Forest
He's wandering the place, as he is won't to do- following the trail of the wreck, mostly to spite Atroma than anything else. They didn't want him here, so here he will go.
He soon comes across the elf flopping around in the grass and pulls a face. Dalish. ]
Something will likely stand on you, if you carry on like that.
no subject
That he was an elf did not make her falter.]
I would like to see it try.
[A challenge. With no one else around, she had to assume he meant himself. There was no way of telling if he were friendly, surely not his tone.]
no subject
I doubt it would have to try very hard. Given you're just lying on the ground. Especially once it gets dark. There's something stalking about here, then.
[Gosh, so rude while he's being helpful, gosh.]
no subject
[Her eyes ran over him again, his stance and his sword. She was sure she could dodge away fast enough, maybe even find some loose dirt to throw into his eyes...but if he was one of the fleet, then it might not do well to start fights so soon.
Not that it had stopped her in the past, it would just be more...inconvenient here without Sten or Alistair to back her up.]
Are you one of the people from Thedas or are you some other kind of elf?
no subject
Do not think so highly of yourself. I was not sneaking up on you. I was simply walking and happened to walk into you.
[...Definitely a Dalish, then. He exhales, folding his arms, relaxing his stance. He'll keep an eye on her, if she moves to attack him...well, that will be her own problem. ]
I'm from Thedas. Kirkwall, currently.
[If being away from there over two years ago could be called 'current' anyway. ]
no subject
I'll think what I will of myself, no matter what you think or say.
[But he's not attacking despite being armed, so her stance begins to relax a bit more, though she's still tense like a bowstring ready to snap.]
Kirkwall? My old clan had been heading up that way.
[At least, Marathari had said 'north' and they had a location they liked up near Kirkwall. Considering how close to the coast it was, it was usually a good place to stop for a bit. They would definitely be there by now.
She stops thinking about it like a switch turning off.]
I am a Grey Warden of Ferelden. The Hero, actually, but that one's a bit on the new side. [Not that she wasn't proud of it and willing to throw it around where it would have weight. There were advantages to being a nation's savior, even if that nation had never once done anything for you.]
no subject
[He won't fight that, at least. If she wishes to be obnoxious about it, that is her own choice. He couldn't and wouldn't take that from her. ]
There was only one Dalish clan near Kirkwall while I was there. Merrill came from them.
[And that's...an interesting turn of events. Riona is going to be thrilled.]
The Hero of Ferelden is old news for me. Though...you will find that title a touch more complicated here.

Suddenly, everything about her stance changes, where she'd been tense and ready to lash out, she was now open and concern etched her face. As a Grey Warden, you leave your old life behind and once the clan had moved on, it was practically impossible to contact them again.
But they were her family, she grew up with them. With Merrill and Tamlen and Feneral, gathered around the fire to listen to Hahren Paivel's stories.]
Was she okay? Merrill? Did you see the clan?
no subject
Fenris may never have been Merrill's biggest fan, but he learned to get along with her a little better, thanks to their shared world- being together through Exsilium and then here. He may not have really considered her a friend, but he'd at least learned to consider her someone worth knowing better. ]
Merrill is...fine. She was the last time I saw here, anyway. We cam across the clan a number of times.
[Before they uh...died horribly because his Hawke makes terrible decisions. ]
no subject
Good. I feared for Merrill.
[She'd always been more quiet and reserved, considered a little odd by the rest of the clan and making friends had been hard for her. Lark and Tamlen were the only ones who truly sought out her company, even Feneral mostly just hung around her because they did. With Tamlen and herself gone, she'd worried what might become of her friend.]
...we started off on the wrong foot. [Not that she was going to apologize, it was completely his fault, after all.] I am Lark Mahariel.
no subject
[If it hadn't been for Hawke, for the rest of their little gang, he was sure Merrill would have perished in the Alienage by now. Either from her own naivete or her blood magic, something would have happened and it would not have ended well for her.
He huffs in response, part sardonic, part genuinely amused. He doesn't apologise either, because of course he doesn't.]
Fenris.
no subject
You are not Dalish, are you? Yet you carry interesting markings on your skin... [She leaves the question open, clearly hoping for an answer to be offered on it's own.]
no subject
[He manages to keep like 60% of his usual disgust out of his tone when he speaks about them. It's a pretty high level of control for him, really. He looks down at his arms, exhales slowly.]
They are lyrium brands. My former master had them carved into my skin. He wished to create a living weapon. For the most part, he succeeded.
no subject
However, the word 'former' didn't escape her notice.]
I hope you made him pay for it.
no subject
I did. He's dead now, by the power he placed within me.
no subject
Good. He deserved it.
[She doesn't need to know the details to feel that way. Anyone who did that to someone else deserved it, no matter their pieces. Especially those who dealt in slaves.]
no subject
[It wasn't really the closed door on his trauma Fenris hoped it would be, but it was something. ]
