Help wanted!

With a new year beginning, your main mods (Red and Stick) are gearing up to improve the Drift Fleet-- both streamlining/refining the current infrastructure of the place, and working on bringing in some new elements that should add to the depth of the game. Some of these changes are based on the player feedback we received back in October, while the rest are things that we've been wanting to do for a while now anyway.

We'll be writing up and releasing these improvements over the coming months (i.e., opening up chances for player-written plots, clarifying things on our activity page, and so on), but we're starting with what we think is the most important: recruiting more help!

Now that our holiday madness is over, we can finally begin the search for more Mod-helpers! We would really like to make sure that events and posts are released in a timely manner, get game information finished and updated, and be able to play in our own game... But to do that, we're going to need to take on several more helpers.

If you are interested in helping us out in either of the categories listed below, fill out the following form and reply with it here! All comments will be screened.

We don't know how many helpers we'll be taking on yet, and depending on the entries we get, we may have several people all tasked with different, specific aspects of what we're pulling together. We'll converse with applicants to see if we can work out a good dynamic and cover all of our bases efficiently.

FIRST CATEGORY: WRITING HELPERS
While writing up events is one of the most rewarding parts of running the Drift Fleet, it's also the most time-consuming for us (especially while we're trying to juggle other things, like Shuffles and AC, at the same time). If you are interested in helping us with writing-oriented parts of the game, please give us some details about what you would be interested in, what you'd be willing to help with only if needed, and which things you would rather avoid. It's very likely that we will be recruiting more than one writing helper, to cover these three areas:
• Event descriptions → Will include following our outline/notes, elaborating notes into full paragraphs, and tolerating our nitpicky finishing edits.
• Other descriptions/flavor text → Includes write-ups following our outlines and notes for various other parts of the game, usually in smaller projects than event posts.
• Proof-reading and streamlining game information text → This will be working with us to fix up things like the Game Details page, and helping keep that information up-to-date.

SECOND CATEGORY: EXTRAS HELPERS
The "extras" portion of the Drift Fleet (where we keep everything that isn't the vital, core information about the game) is already hard to manage, and will likely be getting bigger as the game goes on. If we can bring on a couple of helpers to track and update the various elements of the Drift Fleet extras, it would be a huge weight off our shoulders. Again, let us know which elements you would be most enthused about, which you would be willing to help with only if needed, and which parts you would not be interested in at all. These are the areas we're looking for help in:
• Compiling and updating a "Network" post → This is a page we haven't created yet, but we plan on making it a database for the things that any passenger can find uploaded on the network. This task will include use of (very) basic HTML, and we would especially love someone willing to discuss with us and chip in their ideas on how best to run this branch of extras.
• The "What We Know So Far" page - Tasks will include helping brainstorm which categories to include, taking simple notes on them, and possibly even writing out or elaborating on these categories.
• Updating the descriptions on the Ship Status spreadsheet with new player-made changes → This is mostly a copy-and-paste job that includes very simple spreadsheet editing.
• Updating the Iskaulit page with new changes → Will include keeping track of new entries and adding them to the list (yet to be created), and will include very basic HTML.

And that's it! Feel free to ask us questions, if you have any. :)
