[Ah. She's being tough again.

Well, that's her element, isn't it? To remain steadfast, strong and secure. What was it Gramps always said about earth seraphim? The earth may crack and separate, but never from a power outside. Always from within. Whatever Edna's going through, it's not something Sorey can just wrench out of her. And if he's perfectly honest, he doesn't want to do that; she'll share it when it becomes necessary for her to do so, however that need comes about.

Sorey sniffs hard and wipes at his eyes one last time.] ...okay. I'm uh, I think I've had enough of out here so I'm gonna head back into town. [He hesitates for just a second, but, no matter how she feels right now, she can't want to be without at least the offer of company, right? Edna might be pretty solitary, but after being alone so long on that mountain, with just Eizen...] Could you come with me? You don't have to, but I'd- well, I'd probably be safer, at least.

[Edna exhales softly, her grip on her umbrella tight. She hides her pain with anger and frustration, with quiet and a forced calm. It is her element, but put pressure on a stone, and eventually it, too, crumbles. Sorey's sniffling makes her heart twist and turn, because she knows why, and it's upsetting. It's upsetting that he has to share that pain. That he has to shed the tears for her. He shouldn't have to...it's not his. It's not his burden.

It was never supposed to be his burden.]

Yeah.

[Short, quick, noncommittal. Edna's needing company, oh absolutely, but if it were anyone other than Sorey she would have told them to shove off. He's different. So much like Eizen that it was bittersweet to look at him sometimes and think of all the similarities between them. Maybe that's why she was so quick to trust his word. To trust that he'd try to find another way.

Maybe that's why, just the same, she can't be upset with him when the outcome wasn't what she wanted.]

[Edna's only talkative when she wants to be, but it's so obvious how upset she is when she's not. Even with just the two of them and Sorey's head eerily quiet, the silence between them as they make their way back to town is uncomfortable with things left unsaid.]

Edna- [Stops. Rethinks what he's going to say- no, he should be true to himself. It'll cause more trouble for people if he's not.] I know I'm not exactly as worldly as most of our friends, but if there's anything you ever want to say, or talk about. You know. I'm here. You all are always supporting me with everything you have, and while we're here, I'd- well, I'd like the opportunity to do the same.
