It is rather spacious isn't it?!
[And now she's all fired up!! Good job, Mikleo.]
i can't pun with the pros i bow to you
Kill him now.]
A... anyway, if you don't like it, the ships run on "auto-pilot", apparently.
mwahahaha
Oh, no, I welcome the challenge. It's just a liiiittle nerve wracking when I remember how many people are on the ship. Or when other ships get closer to us.
[She...she does her best....]
But what about your job, Mikleo?
no subject
I'm supposed to be responsible for communications, but... in truth, I don't do much with it once we're out of deeper space. Technically I do more as captain.
[Did anyone tell her he's captain? Because y e a h who thought that was a good idea.]
no subject
Oh, you're in a leadership position, Mikleo?
[Nobody has told her, but Lailah is really proud of him.]
I'm sure that you're doing a fine job. But I'm also sure that the job has its own stress that comes with it.

[The bed is pretty swanky, but otherwise...]
If I'd had a choice in the matter, I would have gone with someone else. Still, it's... not intolerable.

There's a saying that those who refuse the position may in fact be the best suited for it. You may have final say on many decisions, but remember that it's never a bad thing to ask us for help or for an opinion on something.
[He's probably not going to see it over a voice chat, but she shakes her head anyway.]
Perhaps you could think of it in terms of being a Prime Lord. The two may not translate perfectly across each other, but the fundamentals are essentially the same.
no subject
...You know that actually makes it more intimidating. I don't envy the responsibilities you've had this whole time.
[Being a sub lord is comparatively easy- much of the power, a fair share in decision-making, far fewer expectations.]
no subject
It's not so bad. Sometimes, it can be like herding cats. [LOOKING AT YOU, DEZEL.] But a lot of it comes with experience. I've found my way to enjoy the position. You'll find yours, too.
And I have no problem giving you advice or guidance. All you'll ever need to do is ask.
[He won't have to go through it alone, that's for sure.]
no subject
So noted. Admittedly, it's been a simple enough job so far.
[...But thanks. He'll probably take her up on that at some point.]
no subject
It has a lot of moments of simplicity when everyone works together. It's why I've considered it fortunate to have so many wonderful Sub Lords to work with.
[And Lailah's counting Mikleo as one of them.]
Just try to keep in mind that you shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes. After all, you didn't learn how to use your water artes or staff without making a few of them, right?
no subject
[I'm sorry, did you expect him to admit to his imperfections or something? Gosh.]
I'm not really sure how we're supposed to work together, though. It isn't the same as back home- there aren't any battles to fight or trials to overcome. Everyone takes responsibility for their own job, and that's about it.
no subject
We all do what we can to make sure that our jobs run smoothly. As Captain, you may want to see what you can do to make that easier for us to accomplish. In times of calm, though, you may find that you have more time to yourself. You could use that time to build a better rapport with the other crew members.
[Lailah folds her hands neatly, though he can't see that.]

...In other words, take a page from Sorey's book and make friends.
[That thing he's so spectacular at, no, really, gets along with everyone, A+ charisma stat.]
no subject
It worked with us, didn't it?
[Hey, Mikleo's charisma stat is S-rank when against Sorey, at least?]
no subject
I... can't disagree. Although it's the same as back home- a lot of the time, it depends on resonance.
no subject
Indeed. In that case, you may need to rely on Sorey's assistance. Or I suppose we could communicate with our personal thingies since their technology seems to work with us.
no subject
Actually, you might be pleasantly surprised to find how many people have resonance, here. And it seems to develop faster than back home, as well.
