Not really. Mostly I'm just gathering ingredients for food, and trying to find wood and crystals around here I can make a proper staff out of, not this makeshift one. There's not much out here but forest, though.

...Somehow I doubt that. [ He shakes his head, staring between the trees for a moment. ] I can't tell anything specific, but...you're a caster. Can't you feel it? ...Something's out there. [ He doesn't actually know what her senses are like, given the different way magic seems to work from world to world. ]

I can feel something, but... It might just be this whole planet. It might be a monster putting out that kind of signal to draw prey. It might just be an ancient mana pool, or our own senses playing tricks on us.

If there's something, though, I haven't found it.

[ He raises an eyebrow - she's brought up a possibility he hadn't considered: ] There are monsters that could do that where you come from? ...On my world, the most likely cause of something like this would be a Summon Spirit that needed help from someone strong enough to sense it.

I don't know if there any that do that, but I know there are some that could. The theory doesn't seem too complicated- Hell, give me a week to work and I could probably replicate this effect, if not its strength.

    [She waves a hand dismissively.]

I doubt it. Summons want to be found, it's part of their trials to make sure you're good enough. The ones in my world wouldn't broadcast their location like that, anyway. ... Though the existence of the Internet's kind of screwed that part over.

If it is a Summon, though, I'm running the hell away.

    [ And that's just confusing. ]

...Why? They're not dangerous unless you're interfering with something important - even if you fail at making a pact, they'll let you walk away after you're beaten. [ He shakes his head. ] ...Different worlds, I guess.

Whatever it is, it's deeper in the woods than I'm comfortable going without a front-line fighter. I don't suppose you know where I could get a sword.

... Seriously? Your world's versions sound a lot nicer. You have to beat them in order to become able to summon them, and they come at you with intent to kill. And they way outmatch me.

I agree with you there. A tank of some kind is necessary, but unless it's on the waystation, I have no ideas. I can't even equip swords.

You still have to beat them to make a summoning pact, of course, but they only attack if you ask them for one. They're guardians, not monsters. If you just go to their temples, most of them are perfectly willing to talk. [ When they're awake, anyway, but. Details. ]

I guess it can't be helped for now.

Your world seems a lot nicer... In the first place, your Summons stick to temples?

Sorry. The waystation's your best bet.
