[ Eizen moves closer and Zaveid doesn't want to face it - he's kept his distance for a reason. He can still remember the way the other man's body had been wrapped up and twisted in malevolence, the way he had fallen prey to it as the Lord of Calamity swept forward, how his jaw had opened wide and he did no more than devour him. He can remember the twisting panic he had felt, bearing witness to it, unable to pull himself away as he watched his friend become something that he would never be able to come back from. Eizen had been replaced by a monster, and...

Zaveid snaps a little, shaking as he leans close and presses into Eizen's body. He's warm and solid and real, no scales or dragonfire to stop him from embracing him. It's been such a long time, it feels like centuries upon centuries, and yet... Here he stands, as if born again. He hates it, hates it so much, but he loves it all the same. It's twinned with how he felt when he found out that Dezel was around, too; the same burning guilt, the same desperation and panic that makes him want to break from the inside out.

There's no relaxing into his body, no resting against him, but he's held all the same. The pain is sharp and real and he knows that, soon, he's going to flee and wrap himself around his vessel or find Dezel and find some comfort, something to ease the ache deep in his chest, but for now... He takes shuddering breaths, swallowing the panic, the hurt, the suffering, and he squeezes his eyes shut. He refuses to cry, he won't cry, not again. He can't let himself.

Instead, he thumps Eizen's arm. ] You asshole. [ It's broken and quiet but at least it's there. ] You're not supposed to come back and thank me. You're supposed to come and beat the hell out of me for not doing it fast enough. Jeez... [ He sniffles. ] Pain in the ass...

[ ...Well, this is news to her. For a few moments, she looks genuinely shocked at his outburst, before her stance returns back to what it was: absolutely furious. Whatever he had done, she thinks, he must have really deserved it if the Gods had truly tossed him aside like trash. She can almost picture it, really, considering how he is now. She doesn't flinch or move a single step when he slams his hand into the metal wall across from himself, nor does she tear her gaze away from his own. ]

The Gods are not cruel. Destiny is cruel. Everyone has one, and whether they like it or not it is something they must accept and face full on. I've no idea what your past was like and I do not wish to learn about it either. But I will pray for your soul, Ardyn Izunia. You need all the prayers you can get.

Yes, destiny is cruel and so are the people involved in it. For years I have been destined to seek justice for myself on the Lucis Caelum line. They treated me like dirt, so I wish to wipe them out.

[ If there had been any sympathy for him before, it's receding once more. It's understandable that he would be upset about such a thing -- she would be, too. But as far as she's concerned, the past cannot be changed. One must continue to look forward and keep moving regardless. ]

[Apparently the general rule of thumb around here is 'finders keepers' in regards to those temples, so yeah, happy birthday.

Sorey returns with a half-twisted, somewhat crusted looking piece of metal that he's still carefully trying to pick clean of various ocean debris.] Here, this was near it. I think this one is definitely metal, but it's in a lot worse shape. I had to roll a boulder off of it.

[ Eizen doesn't expect this to fix things, to make everything between them suddenly good again. All he can hope is that it somehow helps, that a pressure lift from Zaveid's shoulders as well as his own. Maybe now he won't have to avoid him anymore, won't have to flee at the sight of him, wont have to coil away at the sound of his voice. Maybe they can live in the same space without the tension, without things unsaid bearing down upon them like heavy rocks.

Eizen still doesn't know what exactly caused him to turn, why he became the monster they knew he would one day become - but that's okay, he doesn't need to know right now. He knows his end, knows his life was taken by someone he trusted, knows that his sister is safe. It's enough for him. The rest? That can come when it comes.

Staring up at the ceiling Eizen exhales, gently stroking Zaveid's hair the same way he used to Edna's when she'd cry. He'll give what he can in place of the apologies he does not have, little things that don't even come close to making up for it all. He can only do so much but Zaveid has other people he can lean on, people he cares about, people more able to support him than Eizen. When he runs this time the blow won't be nearly as bad.

He chuckles, barely reacting to the hump against his arm. ] I still might kick your ass for being slow. [ Truthfully he doesn't know how long he was a dragon and, at the moment, he doesn't need to know. ] Some other time, we'd need more space to really let loose.

That has always been my worry, but he seems content in his position.

[Which is just WEIRD for a former slave but there you go. All the Dalish are proud of it, it drives him crazy.]

[Lumiére bounces up a little waving his arms a little more. Honestly, his life would be considerably easier if the curse had made him at least human sized (or, you know, not cursed him at all, that would have been great) at least he'd be more visible. ]

[Oh. If there was anyone who could pop the tiny little happy bubble he might have been cultivating, since finding Luna here, it was Ardyn.]

[Noctis practically grounds the words out between clenched teeth. If Noctis could snarl at Ardyn he'd be doing it right about now.]

What the hell are you doing here?

[Damn it he wants to punch him in the face right now! Almost as soon as the thought enters his head, both fits are clenched and Noctis practically shivers with rage. He was glad for them not being on the planet surface, but he has no idea if he'd cause problems here too. Either way, he really didn't want to care. It takes a split second more of thought before he comes in swinging, throwing a punch in Ardyn's direction.]

[Kanaya's been called a lot of things by a lot of people, but never "Troll Girl". Luckily she doesn't really take any offense at that. Having called one of her good friends 'The John human' for far too long puts her in a position where she can't really complain. It is odd though... because this strange girl she never met before happens to have correctly identified her species.]

[It's only right then that Nightingale realizes she had no idea what she was actually going to say, so she goes quiet, fidgeting for a moment as she tries to plan something out. She wants to make a good first impression, at least, because what she really wants is information on her teammate, and scaring off the one who'd know would be the opposite of what she wants. (Pissing off chainsaw girl would be even worse.)

She would just ask about Wren, but... They never actually found out his real name. Which might be awkward.]

[Kanaya takes a moment before responding. It's been some time since she's hacked someone's legs off, but it wasn't exactly a singular event.]

I can think of two people whom I have cut the legs off of. Which one was your friend?

[As far as first impressions go, this one isn't over yet. She doesn't quite mention that Nightingale's next answer could very heavily influence Kanaya's disposition to her. If it's Tavros, then that's just fine. Plenty of people could be friends with Tavros just fine. Eridan, however... Kanaya would be less happy to meet anybody that still considers him a friend. Though he may not count, given that she cut a little bit higher than just his legs.]

[Unfortunately she doesn't realize the answer might be neither of them.]

[Her tone is deadpan, but she doesn't really mind that much. She's okay with Zaveid in general, it's just that sometimes their ways of doing things clashed.]

[He presses some buttons on the console, showing Keith the progress he's made on the screen. It seems Shiro has made quite a few dives already, higher and higher each time. But they can always go even higher, right?]

[She studies him for a moment and then sighs.]

All right. I won't try to eat him or terrorize him too much. Happy?

[There she goes being blunt again. Good job, Velvet. This is probably the sort of attitude he's talking about right here.

Though, really, she does respect Eizen enough to take his advice into consideration, even if she's outwardly being a shit about it.]

Only Tavros. The other incident was more focused on bisection in general, without regard to any particular amputations. And I cut a bit higher on that one.

[Well that's good then. If Eridan somehow was around in this crazy spaceship abduction zoo things would probably get messy. Also, this particular interaction doesn't have to get suddenly quite tense.]

But then she remembers some of Wren's memories about trolls. And can think of more than a couple that had cold-blooded chainsaw murder coming.]

... You know, on second thought, as long as you didn't end up killing Wren or his weird human girlfriend, I officially don't want to know.

[Kanaya doesn't enjoy killing. In fact, she's just a little bit offended at the insinuation. Granted, she's probably quicker than most to jump to murder as an acceptable solution to life's problems.]

I don't know who that is. Also, I don't make a habit out of killing. They would have to be fairly awful people to justify that. And if they are, or were, then I suppose I'll let you know about it.

That... sounds like Tavros, though I've never heard him use the name "wren" before. Then again, I don't know what may have happened, given that you met him. From my perspective, he died several years ago.
