John is from that one musical you guys may have heard of called Hamilton, and he just so happens to be one of said Hamilton's best friends.   He's a lieutenant colonel in the continental army, a staunch abolitionist, really good at fighting and art and shooting stuff, aaaaand he also happens to be kinda dead.  So this'll be a fun shock for him.  Ilana tempted me over here, though really I've been poking around for a while, secret-like.  Anyway.  Hit me up on plurk or here if you wanna say hi! Well, SPOILERS for Supergirl, but his family also owned slaves and he disagreed with it. Laurens has so much in common with an alien prince with super powers! But also he will probably never mention that because he's keeping it a secret. At least the prince part.

Oh! How did I forget there is a whole Hamilton tribute scene where the villain with magic powers puts them in costumes and has a duel and calls Mon-El Hamilton. It's after his canon point though so he does not know of it. Actually, I think Hamilton has been referenced a few times on the show. There's another time when an informant will only talk if he gets Hamilton tickets and they say the guy who plays King George is an alien. And another time in season 1 where it's just a quick reference of getting tickets I think.
