I am not disappointed. [Justice, on the other hands, never had a semblance of manners to remember and it doesn't occur to him that that could come off as super rude.]

You simply seem familiar, but I suspect it is due to a resemblance you bear to a woman I know. [...Justice is hopeless. Everyone who has ever tried to teach him social skills is so sorry.]

[ Rowan makes a vague attempt to dislodge himself, but finds that standing on his own for extended periods of time (like, 4 seconds?) is difficult, and ends up leaning into Justice's side for as long as he'll allow. ]

Oh? Who is this obviously lovely woman you know?

[This is Justice's life now. He is the supporting staff for a drunk man. This is not what he thought he'd be doing today, but he doesn't really want to let the man just fall on the ground, so he will tolerate it with discomfort.]

She is a Gray Warden. Her name is Riona. You are a Warden as well, are you not? [Justice senses the Taint in him, at least. Hopefully he's a Gray Warden, or else he is very, very sick and should probably see a doctor.]

[trudge]

[ You're the real hero here, Justice. ]

I am. Hero of Ferelden and all that. Rowan Cousland. [ He shakes his head idly. ] Don't know anyone named Riona, though.

[whatisright]

[Appreciate him, Rowan.]

Ah, I see why you are so familiar, then. You are Riona, just a slightly altered version of her from another world. [He says it like this should be totally simple, because it is to him. In the Fade, it's not weird for multiple versions of events to happen on top of each other, and it's not weird for two creatures to share an identity. Sometimes he forgets that humans are not so used to things like this.]

Where I come from, Riona Cousland is the Hero of Ferelden.

[trudge]

[ bro you don't even know how much he appreciates you right now.

Except for... that part? UM! Rowan lifts his head up, staring Justice dead (haha get it) in the eyes as he speaks. Maybe if he was sober his brain could... kind of comprehend the suggestion, try and make sense of it, ask logical questions to get a solid answer. Right now though? Shitfaced? He's got nothing. ]

...Sorry, what?

[Once again, Justice is reminded of Oghren. He also had trouble standing straight and understanding certain concepts. Maybe he would have been better at it if he were sober, but Justice has never seen Oghren sober, so he can't be sure.]

There are many different versions of the world. In each version, different people are the Hero of Ferelden, and they make different decisions. It seems that some people are consistent across worlds, but others change like the Hero.

That's why you feel similar to Riona.

[Is he dropping too many bombs for your level of sobriety, Rowan?]

[trudge]

[ Yeah, kind of?!

Rowan steps - correction: stumbles - back and shakes his head, finding support now on a nearby table. This is not the conversation he wanted to have tonight. In fact, this smells a whole lot like shit he wanted to avoid. ]

So, not only are there other worlds, but there are also other... versions of the same worlds? And one of them is me, as a woman? [ A beat. Drunk Rowan is about to win this particular battle: ] ... is she pretty, at least?

[Oh thank goodness, Justice is no longer being leaned on.

But now the man is nearly falling over, and that was the exact thing Justice had been trying to avoid.]

Is she pretty? [Justice frowns, because he actually has to think very hard about this. He still isn't entirely sure what counts as 'pretty' by human standards.] I... do not pay attention to physical forms as you may. [But her presence is nice and familiar and she always behaves with kindness and a fair hand, so he guesses by his spirit-y standards...] I suppose she is beautiful, yes.

[trudge]

[ He'll be fine. ]

Oh, good. [ He sounds relieved to hear that this alternate-version-that-might-be-him is at least beautiful. Not surprising, if she's a Cousland. They have some good jeans. ] And you are...? Your name. I'm not asking if you're pretty, just to clarify.

I do not have a name.

[Justice stays silent for a bit too long, like he's going to just leave it at that.

Then he remembers that mortals like names.]

Ooookay. [ That's kind of weird???

It is good to meet you. [Unlike most people, Justice is actually sincere when he says that, even if Rowan flopped over him and is drunk as a skunk. Justice likes Riona, and thus he suspects he will like the drunk man as well once he's had a chance to process what's happening. Even if Justice doesn't like him in the end, Justice enjoys meeting new mortals.] I assume you arrived recently?

[trudge]

[ Adorable. ]

Few days ago, maybe a week. Honestly? I haven't really been keeping track. [ He tilts his head curiously. ] What about you? Been here long?

[whatisright]

Perhaps a month. [Justice doesn't keep good track of time. Being from a place where there's no linear time does that to a person.] Not long in comparison to most I have met. It seems that many have been here for years.

[trudge]

Years? [ He whistles lowly at that. ] I guess there are worse places to be stuck, right? This doesn't seem so bad.
