Lyrium? Etched into the skin?
What sort of crazy person does that?]
I'm not exactly used to telling others what to do.
[It is why he let the newer Warden take lead of their party, getting Morrigan to remark on his inadequacy. Thanks so much for bring that up, Fenris!]
If you can do it better, please, feel free to take over.

I am sure you'll get accustomed to it.
[Absolutely not the king of Ferleden then. Interesting. Maker, he hopes Riona doesn't freak out too much about this.]
Just direct them where they need to go, it's not difficult.
no subject
Oh, sure, a person can get used to anything if they're given enough time.
[Sorry that he's like this, Fenris. Being king hasn't sunken in yet. IT takes more than just a few months, after all]
That would be a good plan, if I knew where they were going. I heard something about a space station, but I've no clue where that is. And the locals don't seem to be in any shape to tell me otherwise.

You may be fortunate enough to have some time to do that. Or unfortunate, depending on how much you wish to return to Thedas.
[He can't think of why ANYONE would be in a hurry to return to their crapsack world, honestly. But hey, it's ok Alistair- he hears you turn out to be a not-terrible King. He sighs, pointing in the direction of the nearest shuttle, speaking up for the crowd.]
If you will continue to the left, towards the nearest shuttle, you will be taken to a place of safety. Proceed together without trampling one another, and you will find a way off the planet.

Do we have a choice as to when that happens? I'm not in quite a huge rush, but I should probably go back soon.
[He's only the King or something. Who knows.]
Alright, you heard the man. Those caught pushing will be last in the dinner line once we're on the station.

[IT'S OKAY HE'S SURE FERLEDEN WILL BE FINE. ]
There, that wasn't so difficult.
[He'll teach you how to yell at people, Alistair, it'll be the best :) ]

[Great. Get kidnapped by all-powerful beings and no one will even blink that their newly appointed king is somehow missing. Thanks, Ferelden. Stay classy.]
Perhaps not, but it still doesn't change the fact that I wasn't exactly raised into a position to be king. The Templars don't really care much about who rules the kingdom, so long as the mages stay in line. The Grey Wardens only care if it impacts getting the armies needed to fight Blights.

[At least Ferelden is more classy than Tevinter. Okay, so the bubonic plague is more classy and Tevinter, but still. He shrugs- he has exactly no skills in ruling a country, he can offer no advice here.]
Hmm. You will have advisers, though, will you not? People to help explain the technicalities of ruling a kingdom to you.

[What is wrong with Thedas? Why is it a trash fire, living and breathing more trash? It seriously has no chill. And, for as crappy as Alistair's life has been, he has no idea what it's like to be an elf or a....whatever Fenris is.]
Oh, yeah, sure. There'll be plenty of advisors, offering their opinions whether I ask or not. And then there's those that'll try and advance themselves by trying to curry favor, I suppose.
[There's a headache to be had in that line of thinking.]
I'm just lucky that I'll at least have one or two that I can trust that don't want to poison my wine glass every meal.

Ah...right. Given what happened with Loghain, I can't imagine that is a comforting prospect. It would be like always looking for who is holding the next dagger to go into your back.
[Fenris is the most comforting person in the world to talk to, Alistair is so lucky.]
That is at least something. It is a rare thing to find, these days- people you can trust.

[Alistair is the luckiest. He's found a surly elf that knows who he is. That's always helpful. Surly elves are the best.]
You sound as if you don't trust anyone.
no subject
[Surly elves are the most comforting beings ever. And it could be worse. At least he's not Morrigan. ]
I trust people- when they actually earn it.
no subject
And we are never talking about Morrigan. EVER!]
Well, that's wise. Not everyone's trustworthy, but something tells me that it takes a lot to earn your trust.

[You have to get so many approval points, Alistair. ]

[It had taken Riona a while to take over Morrigan and then the witch went out of her way to find a way that neither Riona or Alistair had to die to save Ferelden.
Even if it meant Alistair had to do something unspeakable. Still worth it.]

[He kind of fucks up a lot because he is so damn broken, Alistair. But he's TRYING to be a less shitty person. It's so hard.
He'll just...trail off awkwardly, always terrible at conversations. ]
