Where did you mortals get this idea that we cannot speak?

[That is the second time Justice has heard this rumor, and he has no idea where the hell it came from. He knows that the Chantry likes to yammer about spirits being unbearably jealous of mortals (not true), but muteness is a new one.

Zevran may notice that while Justice unequivocally looks dead, he doesn't have any distinctive rotting corpse smell, nor does there seem to be any advanced decomposition. Atroma was nice enough to bring him in without taking the corpse he was possessing, and then he decided to just keep looking like a corpse because that's not weird at all.]

You are correct that I am a spirit. I can speak the same way that you speak.

I've heard spirits speak before, but they couldn't really interact with others.

[So the elf can't have met a spirit in the Fade, and most spirits try to avoid the mortal world. A talking spirit that can't interact with others sounds less like a spirit and more like an imprint or a memory to Justice, but he can't be sure without actually seeing it.]
