Well, I kept hoping I'd miraculously recover from life kicking my ass and get my tagging drive back, but it hasn't happened, so I'm dropping Yuan for now. I'm very sorry to everyone, and you're probably not rid of me forever, but I'm bowing out until I pull myself together a little more.
Relevant to some of you: Yuan's notes on magic will remain where he left them, in Felix's library on the Iskaulit. He's written down a lot of stuff about how magic works in his world and in various others, loosely organized by subjects like elements, races, and types of magic. Here and there, especially with regard to healing magic, the notes contain a word he hasn't used in public: "Exsphere", and sometimes "Exsphere-user". The notes don't explain what these terms mean...unless you can read the ones at the very bottom of the pile, written in Angelic, a dead language from his world mostly used in religious texts.
These notes describe living gems called Exspheres, which can increase someone's abilities if attached to the skin, but will also gradually warp and drain away the person's soul unless properly controlled, leaving them a soulless shell and the Exsphere with a higher power output for the next person to equip it. There are also descriptions of soul/mana signature distortions resulting from Exsphere exposure, and (the very few) known ways of counteracting them. It's the kind of information that shouldn't be widely available, but should be there to find for determined people.
Thanks for the good times, everyone!
