[Nami doesn't know her. But it's hard to mistake that sincerity. The heartache on her behalf.

...nobody's actually really commiserated with her on that level before, she thinks. It's nice. It also makes her miss her crew something fierce. And by extension, wistful about the friendship she never had or can't remember, right here.]

Well. I've grown used to it. [That... sounds more callous than she meant, and she follows it up with a cheerful smile.] That is-- I'd cheer if they turned up, I think. But in the meantime, I'm not unhappy here. There are some good people on the Fleet.

[She thinks Sokka has missed Katara painfully for at least that long, but if Katara doesn't already know that down to her bones, Nami would be surprised.]

...thank you, though. I appreciate it.

[Katara gives Nami a small smile and nods, dropping her hand back down.] I'm glad to hear it. There were some amazing people in Luceti too - it almost made being there worth it, just to meet them. I'm looking forward to getting to know the people here too.

[...even if it just means that they will leave, and that it will suck, it is better to care, better to live, even if it hurts.]
    mikangirl: (it's a beautiful day)

[Nami agrees with that sentiment. It's probably...just as well she doesn't remember Luceti.

But now they have the painful stuff out the way, she aims for a lighter subject.]

So...friends with Sanji-kun, huh? [What a shock.] That must've been fun getting to know him.

[Bright smile with only he smallest shadow of 'I miss him'!] It was! Sanji's amazing--

[...oh wait, she sees where this is going.]

...um, but I met him when I was fourteen. So he never "mellorined" at me.

[Because while Katara still might not think she's a knock out by Luceti standards, Sanji was Sanji to women of a certain age, regardless.]
    mikangirl: (high five)

    [personal profile] mikangirl 2018-03-18 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ohhh you didn't see him when he was fantasising about watching her grow up into a ~lady~ when she got turned into an eight year old. >>]

Good to know. I'd have to punch him otherwise. [But also wow, Katara's been stuck in these places for a while too.] How old are you now?

[Fortunately, yes, Katara is completely ignorant when it comes to any and all of Sanji's fantasies.

And, yes, Katara believes that Nami would have punched Sanji. Her smile is wry at that question.]
    I'm eighteen. How about you?

    Ah...

You know, I forget. I've gone back and forth so many times. [Which isn't really a painful thing, it's just annoying. Let's see here.]

...my best guess is 23. But I guess I kind of reset when I go home, and nobody ages here. I think I'm technically twenty forever.
    mikangirl: (huehuehue)

    [personal profile] mikangirl 2018-03-19 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
...which isn't a bad age to be, all things considered.

[Young and beautiful forever, aw yeah. Look, she'll take the pluses where she can.]

[No, it wasn't a bad age. And Katara couldn't help but smile briefly at Nami's expression, before -- oh, an important question.] You've gone back and forth? Even from here?

[That had happened a few times to Nami in Luceti, but Katara hadn't known for sure this place was exactly like that...]
mikangirl: (don't con a con artist)

    [personal profile] mikangirl 2018-03-21 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, probably not the way you're thinking of. It happened in the place before the Fleet-- and I've heard it's pretty common for a lot of these weird places-- but here, you just sort of go to sleep, maybe for a few days or a few weeks. And you wake up with all these new memories.

But... it feels kind of like I went back. If that makes sense. Like a really vivid dream, and you wake up back in your bed on the ship and you think oh.

    Kind of jarring.

    [personal profile] watermarks 2018-03-21 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
...yeah, that sounds like it would be. [Glancing away from Nami to the store for a moment, though not really seeing it.] That never happened to me in Luceti. [And she thinks of her friends there and wonders if they are okay, if they are missing her, or if she is still there somehow. After all, Rogue and Loki were, and that Peggy Carter woman had said that they'd been here two years ago...

Katara isn't sure what she hopes for more.

Glancing back at Nami now, determined to not think about what she couldn't change, instead she continues on trying to figure things out and get to know her friend again.]
What was the name of the place you were before this?
    mikangirl: DEFAULT DEFAULT (listening in)

    [personal profile] mikangirl 2018-03-21 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[She wonders if it's better or worse to go back and forth. Going back makes things so much fresher (and bitter), but ... she can at least say she's seen the crew, if only in her dreams.]

Adstringendum. [She makes a face.] Apparently a bunch of scientists made a huge mistake and accidentally sent cracks their universe. And we... everyone that was there, we kind of fell through the cracks. Had to make do with a ruin made out of bits of architecture that also fell through. And there were powerful spirits that got sucked through that pitched a fit about the whole thing, so they made it fun.

Luceti is... a closed in place, right? With wings? [Something like that. Nami's been investigating all these Other Places.]
watermarks: (Oh? | Curious | Mild Concern)

    [personal profile] watermarks 2018-03-21 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Katara absorbs that information; she hasn't heard of Adstringendum before, but... scientists. Bleck. Powerful spirits and... a broken world... that was...

    Hmm.

But she nods at Nami's question.]
It was the name of one of the enclosures in that world, yeah. There were others, but I never saw them, I just met people from them on missions or well, there was one time they came to Luceti. There was just something... broken with the planet that drew people to it, and made it so they couldn't escape. [Not even in death. But first, before more information, a question!] You've met people from Luceti before?
    mikangirl: (I'm here)

    [personal profile] mikangirl 2018-03-23 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
[...that does sound similar to Adstring, actually. People survived death there too.

    ...well. Until the end, anyway.]

Yeah. I don't think there are any left now, but there were a couple. [Nami ur chef is from Luceti. But they haven't had that conversation.] I'm guessing they didn't know who I was, or maybe they were after my time, or... something.

[Or just didn't want to confuse things.]
