[ well. there's a bakugou hanging out in this general area, alternating between doing chores for money and just leaning against things looking aggressive and bored. he's been steadfastedly ignoring the other hero in training --

at least until he hears him start up a commotion. he whips around, hands sparking at the ready - and

- and -

what the actual hell. he turns just in time to see the cow take the book and fly into the sky and what is there to say other than: ]

Deku, you dumb bastard! [ HAHAHAHAHA THIS MAKES EVERYTHING ALMOST WORTH IT ]

[It is embarrassing enough to have his notebook taken by a cow, but the fact that he has an audience doesn't help. Even less that it is Bakugou but what can he do? He's used to the taunting by now so he's able to (mostly) ignore it, and instead focuses on getting up to the cow.

Focusing One for All into his legs, Deku springs up towards the cow. The cow sees him coming, however, and lazily drifts out of the way as Deku reaches the apex. Without anything to land on or push off of, Deku starts to fall.

Towards Bakugou.]

[ what no his hubris HIS HUBRIS WHY IS HE NOT PERMITTED TO LAUGH AT OTHERS WITHOUT CONSEQU- oh right.

bakugou makes the verbal equivalent of an angry keysmash and is momentarily torn between jumping up to make sure Deku doesn't break his stupid neck on the ground and jumping back to save himself from getting crushed by a childhood friend slash minion slash rival slash perpetual irritant. aizawa will never leave him alone if he just stood by, and he doesn't need uraraka tossing a guilt trip at him every time they cross paths.

He manages to split the difference, blasting into the air to catch Deku around the middle (not gently, he's still terrible at this) to stop some of that momentum and then chucks him to the ground at a much less potentially lethal height. ]

What the hell kind of strategy was that?!

[It is not a graceful landing by any stretch of the imagination. Probably better than what it could have been but the whole thing still ends with Deku in the dirt. Which is frustratingly familiar, but the lack of major injuries is probably a victory in some small way.]

I thought I might be able to catch up to the cow if I jumped, but it was too high up.

[And he didn't really have anywhere to jump from after that.]

[ SIGH. He could probably just go... get the damn thing. That'd be the ''heroic'' thing to do, but - the whole thing just kind of pisses him off. And getting it for him would be like -- well he should get it his own damn self, if he's so great. Clearly. It pisses him off.

But what doesn't, really. Katsuki crosses his arms and flares his nostrils irritably. ]

You idiot, it clearly has the advantage up there! You want to break your neck go ahead but don't fucking half-ass it.

[It was definitely one of the times where he had acted without thinking, rather than his usual analysis of the situation. The cow taking his notebook, and then flying off, had clearly caught him off guard.

Never mind that he's getting this lecture from Bakugou. Consider him suitably admonished.]

Right. I guess I wasn't expecting a cow to do that.

This time I'll be ready for him.
