[He offers Shinji a little smile because the fact that he is trying to comfort is sweet.]

Any power I lost I'll regain. I just have to work for a while and I'll get it back. It won't even seem that bad with my friends at my side.

[ Friends had a habit of forcing you to deal with shit you wanted to avoid, too...

Well, I try to be. Sometimes it doesn't always work.

[ There's the sudden appearance of something that could almost be called a smirk. Almost, but it's gone just as quickly as it may or may not have appeared. ]

Heh. You coulda fooled me, kid.

You happened to catch me on one of my better days. [He replies with a grin.]

And considering all of the crazy stuff that's happened to me this week, I'd say that's something to be proud of.

[ If he's honest, Shinji could say the same, but he's never really been one to unload his problems in others, even his closest friends. ]

Yeah... [Sora slumps back, and considers Shinji for a moment before continuing.]

I really don't know how to start explaining everything. I barely understand what happened, but basically, there's a really bad guy named Xehanort and he's trying to turn a bunch of people into vessels for his Heart. He needs thirteen vessels in total. He picked me to be the last one, and he almost...

[He winces a bit and rubs the back of his head. He really isn't sure any of this makes sense - because it still sounds so unbelievable to him.] Well, he almost changed me. He would have too, except my friends rescued me. My best friend Riku even went into my dream and brought me back completely.

I'd probably be toast without him.

[ Sora's right. Most of that shit didn't make any sense. It would probably make a hell of a lot more sense to Mitsuru, but she wasn't around to deal with it. Instead, it was falling to him, and to be fair, he'd asked. ]

His Heart, huh? Is that like...your soul?

Yeah, I guess? It's all that you are. It's what connects you to other people.

If Xehanort had changed my heart, I wouldn't be me anymore. I'd just be a vessel to the darkness.

[His hand moves to his chest and then closes into a fist.]

Anyway, that's why I lost a lot of my powers. But I can still put up a good fight if I have to.

[ I sounds similar to what the Shadows do to people, leaving them muttering former shells of themselves. It's certainly enough to get Shinji's attention and he leans forward slightly, showing his interest if even just a little. ]

Yeah, I bet, but...shouldn't you be takin' it easy? Recovering, you know?

The best way for me to recover is to get back my powers so I can stop Xehanort. Whatever he is planning, it can't be good.

[ He nodded, thoughtfully eating his fries in silence for a moment. He could follow the sentiment alright, but...sometimes it was someone else's fight. He'd laid down his life for it already, for example. ]

You can't be the only person able to stop 'im.

There's supposed to be seven of us, actually. Seven guardians of light.

Sounds fancy.

[ He shrugs, though. ]

What happened to the rest of 'em?

Well four of them are me, the King, and my friends Riku and Kairi. I'm not sure who the other three are. The King seems to know, though. He'll think of a way to find them.

What, and until there, you're stuck here?

Not sure how long I'll be stuck here, really. Do any of us get to choose when we go home?

Not all of us.

[Because some of us are dead.]

I don't think anybody gets to choose, though.
