Library - Voice testing here too, so sorry if a bit off, still getting there

[Varian should hardly be surprised as to where to find Archmage in this strange place, he did tend to gravitate towards the need for knowledge and information.]

Never thought I would see the day that you were lost for knowledge. [And he was happy to leave it to the other man. Such things were well beyond his want or need to understand, not when balancing other matters of the realms. It was why Varian had advisers after all.]

I am more than happy to help, omg

[ The sound of that voice gives him pause. Could it be? Time was in a state of flux in regard to this place, and...Khadgar looked over to the source of that voice, eyes widening when his suspicions were confirmed. He nearly dropped the book he was holding. ]

    Varian?

[ Khadgar was still impressed by how much of the father he could see in the son. King Llane would be proud of the man his son had become, and all he had accomplished, the Archmage was sure of it, not that they'd ever had a chance to sit down and talk about the events of the First War before...

...but that was a discussion for another time, and one they would be afforded, it would seem.
    ]

Yes, well, I've only recently learned the universe is far more vast than I'd been given to believe. [ He smiles though, a bit of familiar mischief twinkling in his eye. ] I didn't realize you were partial to libraries.

Nice to find cast mates around :)

Azeroth suddenly seems very small. [Varian agreed, even with the knowledge of the Outlands, and to similar extent Draenor, all of it was now so tiny in comparison.

There was also certainly no lie to that statement, Varian was much more comfortable being in the training grounds in what little down time he had compared to libraries.]
Are you implying my reading skills are not up to par? [A light hint of humor, not much, but it was there at times. It was certainly far safer, far less destructive, than the rage that use to fill him.]

Indeed, even if we count the Emerald Dream, Draenor, and Argus among their number, it is apparently common here to travel between hundreds of different worlds, inhabited by countless races...

[ He Archmage smiles, slipping a string into the tome he'd been flipping through and tucking it under his arm. Research could wait. It had waited this long, after all. ]

I said nothing of the sort, Your Highness, though I could make a few recommendations, as you have nothing but time on your hands now.

[ He pauses, though, looking thoughtful. The next was important. ]

How was Azeroth when you last saw her?

[That was a very telling question, and one that was instantly sobering, not for himself, but for what he knew his world was about to face.] In a great peril. [There had been such hope, that maybe they could had held off that initial wave, to stop Gul'dan's plans before they could fully come to fruition. And they had failed.]

Was Greymane able to make his way back to Stormwind?

    When is she not?

[ He chuckles, shaking his head. ]

...the Legion's return was inevitable, Your Highness, as you well know. [ But the last time, the Guardian was to stand against the tied, and his will failed. Still... ]

Yes. The weight of the crown is still heavy on Anduin's head, but...he isn't alone.

    [personal profile] wolfofstormwind 2018-07-27 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
[And there was Varian's greatest concern. His love for his home, for Stormwind, for all of Azeroth was strong, but it paled for that which was for his son. He had known in the final moments his end had been near, that it would come down to if he went alone, or took heroes of his world with him. And they were needed for the battles that were to come. But Anduin, Varian had wanted to spare him as long as he could from the duty of the crown, to try and leave their world in a much better place for him to rule over their people. It had felt it was starting to go that way, until the Legion's return.

It was a long moment before he responded, the muscles tensing in his jaw before he was able to relax them enough to speak.]
That is good to hear, that our allies stayed close.

And, Khadgar, considering everything, that title is now redundant towards me. [After all, Varian was now 'dead'... or whatever he was in this place.]

    [personal profile] didthemath 2018-08-01 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes...when the threat of certain death is greater than the strife between nations, Azeroth does come together.

[ he's also seen them divide at the worst possible times, though. A shame. ]

Heh, should I call you 'Your Former Highness', then? [ After his time spent in Outland, in the past of Draenor, and now, on the Broken Isles...Khadgar's grown quite a fatalistic sense of humor. ]
    wolfofstormwind: (04)

    [personal profile] wolfofstormwind 2018-08-04 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
[There was first a weighted sigh towards that as Varian well aware of how correct that statement was. Including with himself. Because of him they had almost lost a strong ally, almost never gave the Worgan, and by extent Greymane, a chance. It was all too easy to look to the past rather than the future.

However it was followed by a steady look in Khadgar's direction. It wasn't a dangerous look, not a glare, but one of a man who was getting all to use to that said sense of humor. And maybe didn't always appreciate it, but tolerated considering who it was coming from.]
    Varian will do.

I would like to know what has happened since my, [By the Light, it was still difficult to come to terms with, not with being here rather than whatever was waiting for him. It had been the last thing Varian expected.] Death.

    [personal profile] didthemath 2018-08-05 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, Varian. Forgive me. One must find their entertainment somehow, mustn't they?

[ And his expression darkens slightly as he frowns at the former King of Stormwind's prompt. So much has happened on so short a time. ]

It's quite a long story, and involves a great deal of history as well as...a bargain for the very heart of Azeroth herself. I know it sounds dramatic, but, well, I suppose it is. There has never been a greater thing at stake.
    wolfofstormwind: (08)

    [personal profile] wolfofstormwind 2018-08-06 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Wasn't it always a long story?] This sounds like a story better fitted for an inn rather than a library. [A strong drink may be required for the details to come, considering Varian was unable to help with anything that had come to pass, or would.] They may not have mead or Thunderbrew Ale, but they do supply a number of suitable substitutes.

They do at that, and something that nearly passes for Dalaran red.

[ He slides the tome he'd been perusing under and arm. ]

    Shall we?
    wolfofstormwind: (04)

    [personal profile] wolfofstormwind 2018-08-13 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Moving to exit the library, Varian slowed his step so he would stay in pace with Khadgar instead of walking in front of him. It was going to take him awhile to get out of kingly habits.]

What were you trying to discover in your reading? [Now that hew knew his questions of home would be answered, Varian had room to ask other topics.]
    didthemath: by {<user name="stillimage">} (002)

    [personal profile] didthemath 2018-08-20 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ And Khadgar did fall into step with him, accustomed as he was with falling into step all manner of people, gnome to Tauren, matching Varian's pace was second nature. ]

Of course! In my experience, when faced with ancient or completely alien technologies or magics, reading whatever has been written on them and finding the commonality between the works is the quickest way to understanding it. Those here in the Fleet are from various realities and across space as well as time. Why, physics doesn't even operate the same way across all of them, to say nothing for the arcane. There are even some realities in which there is no great font of power, and yet no abundance of arcane or elemental energies, either, or where elementals themselves do not exist in a sentient form. My objective was to find all I could on all the collected realities' knowledge of spacial travel to find the commonality.

[ He's animated as he's explaining, of course, as is his way when he's excited about something. ]

All these planes exist independently, have different fundamental laws, but there must be at least one thread all realities across all of existence share, otherwise we wouldn't be here. We simply have to find it.

    [personal profile] wolfofstormwind 2018-08-24 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[The range of technology and magic on Azeroth was vast, their existences was all basic knowledge, even if they were not commonly used by a person of their land. The fact such places would exist without it, without the Light... it was alien, however, it was also something he was becoming more accustomed to the longer his stay was in this place.

The details though were much better left up to Khadgar, both for his level of understanding and his, well, enthusiasm for the topics.]
I imagine you will report back if you find anything that is important for our survival in this place. [Not like going back was a choice for Varian, but their world still needed Khadgar, and he hated to think what would happen if he was gone too long from it.]

    [personal profile] didthemath 2018-08-25 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, of course. [He raised a hand though, as they walked.]

On that point, it's come to my attention death doesn't permanent here.
    wolfofstormwind: (04)

    [personal profile] wolfofstormwind 2018-08-25 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[...] I assume you mean beyond the talents of a Priest or other healer. [Though, that did have it's limitations.]

That would had been nice to have had earlier. [It was said in a slightly lower tone, though not mumbled, another brief flash of humor, even if rather morbid.]

I suppose that is beneficial, though I doubt this set up is as dangerous as the situation back in our world.

    [personal profile] didthemath 2018-08-25 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed, though I've only heard tales of it, of course.

[He frowns slightly, realizing this is probably untoward. Admittedly, it didn't quite sit well with him, either.]

You are aware we're all gathered here for entertainment.
    wolfofstormwind: (01)

    [personal profile] wolfofstormwind 2018-08-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
[His reaction to that comment was subtle, a slight tightening of the muscles, a tension in his jaw, his spine straightening just a tad more, his hand clenching at his side.] I am aware. [Varian had been in that type of position before, a thing for entertainment, it not mattering if he lived or died as long as he put on a good show before it happened.

    But he had survived it.]

[Khadgar frowned. A very ingrained part of him was still angered at the indecencies and torments suffered by the son of his friend, King Llane, in his absence. Slamming shut the Dark Portal had been necessary, but he still wondered of things might have played out differently if so significant a force of the Alliance's troops hadn't been trapped on Outland for nearly twenty years.]

They...seem to make certain that...entertainment continues. By any means necessary.

[He may no longer be in his land, or leading his people, but that didn't stop the feeling of indignation the people of this Fleet had been through. To be taken away from their homes and put on display like some animals...] It's disgusting. [However, it seemed an necessary evil they had to tolerate.]

It appears we are at the mercy of whoever brought us here, both for our length of stay here as well as what happens during it.
