[Keith didn't come to the pool without Lance very often, but it happened on occasion. After discovering that Snow, his snow leopard cub, liked to swim, he brought her here sometimes to let her paddle around in the shallow end. She tended to avoid the deeper part of the pool all on her own. She bounded ahead of him as he headed for the locker room to grab his swim trunks. There was someone else here who he didn't immediately recognize while they were swimming, but it was a big Fleet. He headed off without a word, Snow jumping right into the shallow end of the water.

Surprise, Veronica. You have a baby wild cat swimming with you, seeming to be alone.]

[Veronica has started to relax a bit, treading water in the deep end and closing her eyes as she listens to the sound of her own breathing. It's a basic but effective technique for calming down that they had taught everyone at Garrison, particularly those who hadn't seen combat before. The splash makes her eyes open, and she blinks in surprise at her new pool mate.]

Oh. My. God.

[Is she imagining this right now?? Is there seriously a tiny adorable leopard in the pool with her?]

You're my new best friend, baby cat. I don't even care if you're real right now.

[Snow blinked at this strange person googling at her, her paws slowly swishing in the water to help her stay afloat.

She seemed rather unimpressed with this human's groveling technique.]

Awwww, you're so cute! And you're swimming in a pool! [Veronica is completely won over, though she stays on the opposite end of the pool. Imaginary or no, she doesn't want to get attacked by an irritated animal.]

[Keith had come back from the locker room now. Granted, Veronica hadn't ever seen Keith before his two year space whale journey and subsequent fight with Shiro, so his recent physical changes like his size and the new scar on his face wouldn't take her by surprise.

However, she might spot the small scar just over his waistband on his left side, and then, when he pulled the towel off his shoulders, he had another large one on his right shoulder that came down over his collarbone.

He dropped the towel on one of the lounge chairs, and then noticed she was looking at Snow.]

Oh... that's Snow. I adopted her a while back on some ice planet.

[He stepped into the water, and finally now got a good look at Veronica.]
