Player Plot Incoming!
Hello DF! I'm writing today about some mini plots related to Atroma! Well, more like a mini thing to thread if anyone wants to and a player plot for August. It's short one, just one day, and it's opt in, so no worries about any plan you may have. Let's begin!
1.Mini thing: The thing on the Marsiva!
As you've probably already seen, Thor and his party of fancy space breathers went to the Marsiva to try to get in (to put it nicely). They weren't able to do it, but they discovered there's living liquid creature living in it. So! Now that Shiro's spoken to Thor, he would interested to know if people with sensing powers can feel it now we know what to look for exactly. The answer is no sadly (mod details) but I'm putting it out there in case anyone wants to say this is something that Shiro did with your chara - we can thread it or handwave it, but it's information for the power sensitive to have and another thing to try if they're bored. Sorry for the luck of results. :(
2.PLAYER PLOT: SS ZOOMalso known as "Han Solo is an awful influence and I'm blaming everything on him this is for SCIENCE OK"
Alright, so here is the thing: Shiro and Han aredumbass daredevils pilots at heart and they've been talking about testing the limits of the SS ships, since usually those just fly along the Marsiva on a specific route. Boring! They're also curious about the limit of the Marsiva's gravitational pull, since they learned about that when they arrived but it was information passed by people and they wanna see it with their own eyes, check that it isn't just bullshit to keep them in check. Shiro put two rules, they would wait for drifting time and everyone in a crew must agree to join with their ship. This is both OOCly and ICly - like I said before, it's opt in. The Blameless is doing it for sure (I already discussed it with my crew) and everyone is welcome to join. The date for this will be August 8th and it will only last a couple of IC hours! A mingle will go up for it. Details behind the cut~
So what are we doing? Basically, taking the SS ships for a ride. We want to test how fast and how far they can go, maybe try a whirl or two, and possibly give Atroma the finger (spoilers: we won't). Usually, SS ships can get about 24 hours away from the Marsiva. But since this time they're gonna GO FAST, only a couple of hours will be enough to reach the range limit of the Marsiva's pull. Shuttle speed is left to player discretion depending on the augments your ship has, but obviously they won't be as cool. And what happens when we reach the limits of that range? WELP...
-If someone takes a shuttle out of range, they will suddenly appear at the edge of the range somewhere else, pointed toward the Marsiva now. Imagine Pac-Man leaving one edge of the screen and appearing on the other. Like that!
-Attempts to go beyond that range with a SS ship will cause the ships to enter a countdown complete with warning alarms, after which the ship will be destroyed if it does not re-enter range. Oops? Important: if you want to go with this option, please contact the mods first (standard death stuff applies, ship will need time to be rebuilt and may lose some upgrades). That said, the option we have (and what the Blameless is going for) is that when the alarms start, they keep going to know what they mean, get only a bit of damage on the ship and turn the ship back before countdown ends. This gives us the information we need: try to escape? Atroma makes you pay.
-If you "park" the ship near the edge and try to go farther in person... Beaming/teleporting just plain won't work. It's like the other end "won't connect," or whatever other comparison a player wants to use for teleportation/ship-based beaming just flat-out not working. As for space-walking, the person will do the same Pac-Man style reappearance elsewhere, like the shuttles.
...and hey, if on their way back this becomes a bit of a race, it's just. You know. For science.
How to participate? Or not? Signing up a ship for this requires ooc and ic approval of the whole crew. This is important! So if you're interested talk it among yourselves and take a vote (feel free to use this post for that!). If your crew wants to do it but your character doesn't want to be in this, don't worry: they can spend those couple of hours in the Iskaulit - an easy way to opt out. Only the pilot(s) are needed on the SS ship, but everyone else is welcome to come if they're curious. And of course, anyone can take a shuttle. If your ship isn't joining this plot, you don't need to comment at all! If you do, one comment saying SS X is joining and how much damage they're taking is all you need to do. No need to comment if your character is joining us with a shuttle since that doesn't affect others.
-What if my ship wants to participate but we don't have a pilot?
Some ships have more than one pilot, so they could borrow one for a couple of hours! Leave a comment saying so and I'll try to hook you up.
-I'm a pilot that want to join but my ship doesn't want to.
Leave a comment saying so and I'll try to hook you up too! Some pilot-less ships may have an use for you, or you can take turns with another pilot in another ship. Also remember the shuttles! Yeah, they don't go as fast but I wanna put the option out there in case the information is the only thing you wanna get and you don't care about the speed.
-So no pilots can go too?
Yes! They can stay on the SS ship while this happens to hear the alarms and see what happens with their own eyes, or they can take a shuttle to have their own fun.
-How is this going to be organized ICly?
Shiro will go to each ship personally to talk to the captain and pilot. This can be handwaved or threaded, I'm not picky.
That's about it! Any questions, ideas or whatever you may have to say about this, feel free to leave a comment! Here is the plotting thread with the mods in case you wanna read the whole thing. Use this post to plot too, put the votes together with your crew, etc.

SS CAPRINE Check-In
Honestly he's more interested in speed and playing with gravitational effects than in any real escape attempts, so at least as far as he's concerned we don't need to take any damage... He just wants to go fast, preferably faster than the other ships.
(I will try to sort out who/how to ping everyone in the next couple days, but I'm just getting back to my computer after a week away, so I thought i'd start here.)
Separately, he'd potentially be up for shuttle races against other shuttles, if anyone can't find an SS ship or if the Caprine needs to opt out!
SS WONDERDUCK!!
You can add me on plurk at
OOCly, I am 100% on board for anything y'all want to do, be it blowing up the ship, participating but not blowing up the ship, or not participating at all and letting those who do want to participate go with other ships. I can make something work ICly for my character based on whatever we decide, no worries there. So maybe we should majority rules vote? Up to you guys!
Let me know! ♥
SS GOLDSTONE Check In
Otherwise she just might take a shuttle out and do a race or two.

Jayden's in, if y'all want to do this. However, if they go out of bounds and get that countdown, and damage starts happening to the ship, she will VERY MUCH want to turn back around to keep everyone safe and alive.
If she gets outvoted and/or captain demands that they keep going, she'll very reluctantly listen. Just don't expect her to be happy about it...
Of course, obviously I am also cool with not going out of bounds at all.

baku is interested in the data of it all but she doesn't want to fly or nothing, she just wants to come along for the ride if that's ok

One way we could work it is: they get the Goldstone like juuust out of range, and the alarm starts up and they're like "whoa shit nope fuck that nonsense" and immediately turn back around, no damage done! Then just park on the edge and watch everyone else, and if people wanna go out in shuttles, go for it~

what's a race without an audience anywaySS TOURIST CHECK IN
Though... Kirk would have to recruit a pilot, since we do not have one. But he can do it! Have faith in your captain!

He'll drink tea while you race. Chillest person on the ship.
SS HUNTRESS (and an option for Keith if the answer is no)

He'll stop when the alarm goes off, though, 'cause he's not putting anyone in danger.

let them race!

He's definitely interested in learning as much about everything here as possible but of course he'll be cautious - so that totally works with the plan so far

TBH it's a good idea for the fleet to test the limits of the ships anyway and maybe even see how far they can get away from the Marsiva (and perhaps find a way to get really far away!)

You have to have someone on hand to document things like this!!
