After a long, intense two months, the Calibrations event is now officially ending. Thank you to everyone for making this event such a wonderful experience whenever Calibrations Time rolls around! It's always absolutely flooring how creative, expressive, and eager to share all of you are. And, well, being eager to expose your characters' innermost deepest thoughts and memories comes with the territory too, which just makes it all the more fun! ♥ You’re all wonderful. We really hope you all had as much fun as we did.

However... Calibrations won't be ending so quietly as it usually does. How would all of you like a brief window of opportunity to unleash a little bit of fury on the Marsiva~~?

click me for details! )

------------
The Drift Fleet is now officially drifting from March 1 until March 10! During this drift period, the Fleet will continue on its course as if it never got held up in the first place! Convenient! Feel free to refamiliarize yourself with the ships, the Iskaulit, meet your new crewmates, or find some way to cope with the fallout of what the heck all of you just went through. As always, there are your standard waystations now and then that are perfectly explorable, should you need to get out and stretch your legs for a bit.

Do try to have fun, yes? And, of course -- welcome home, dear Drift Fleet.

Here we are, in the middle of it all… and there are still no clear signs of when (or even if) the Drift Fleet's passengers will get to leave this strange wing of the Marsiva. Calibrations continue during the "night" cycles, for those who can remember the experiences. Time spend wandering the Marsiva during the day hasn't been very productive for anyone contemplating escape, revenge, or other defiant sort of ideas.

Starting over the next few days, though, a few cracks in the metaphorical veneer will begin to surface...

Those who were a part of calibrations last year might remember some of these extra discoveries and pieces of the Atroma puzzle - if they remember anything at all about them… This year, there are more surprises to find! So even if you remember this plot from last time, give it another read-through, there’s something new for everyone -- and some very special guests you might want to track down…

The Atroma have decided our ratings need a boost! What better boost than mistletoe smooches?

When? What? Starting now and lasting until December 26 you will find sprigs of mistletoe hanging above some of the doorways upon the ships including the Iskaulit. The mistletoe affect will not reach the planet. These sprigs will catch people under them—holding them within a tight radius—imagine an invisible forcefield around them. The characters won’t be released until they kiss. This could be a kiss on the hand or cheek, a chaste lip-to-lip kiss, or something more intimate. (All usual courtesy warnings apply if it gets really intimate, but that’s on your characters—not the Atroma—at that point! You won’t feel compelled for more than a kiss.)

But what if…? (The opt out) Your character may never feel compelled to kiss anyone at all. Your character may also feel compelled sometimes and other times not and to different degrees with different people. No one needs unwanted kisses, so this is all up to you! You can also have your character unaffected but choosing to kiss. Please feel free to set clear limits with other players or pre-plot your threads. Whatever works best for you! Use this post to plot if you like.

What if my character wants to hack down all the mistletoe? Go for it! Get out your aggressions on tiny doorway vegetables! Of course the Atroma will just return them to those doors or other ones. They aren’t necessarily fixed to one spot the whole time.

What if my character can get out of forcefields? The Atroma beats whatever you’ve got! Probably. Basically, if you want the kisses, just go for the kisses and assume the Atroma took care of the details. They do have an augment in your head after all. If you’d rather opt out and the character wants to assume they were just super badass they can do that.

Why am I still reading this? I want to get my smooch on! Sounds good. Here is a fleet-wide mingle, and you can always post for yourself or your ship individually!

Questions? Ask here. I’ll see about getting the mods to track it too since their rulings would be far more rule-ier than mine.

This plot brought to you by Haunt wanting some IC smooching in conjunction with the mods who outlined how they’d like to see it handled in the broad strokes. I filled in the details and hopefully didn’t botch it, but subject to change!

We did it!

CONGRATULATIONS, DRIFT FLEET! WE MADE IT!

Our characters have a network of our own now.

Thanks to anyone that donated money last time, and a special call out to all nerds and engineers that would dedicate time to this, plus Lup's communication spells and our duo from Panem with the experience on encryption. All these things made it easier for this project to become possible. :D

So here's how things will work out:

Shiro comes with the idea and visits the ships to tell crews about it, word of mouth runs from there. You can handwave that you heard it from him or another person involved in the project, no biggie (we can thread it too, more on that in a sec). This has happened early in the month! So everyone would've been working on it the last few weeks. The project would be done by the end of the month. (This needed to be approved by mods first, that's why nothing was done ICly so far, just fyi on the backdating.)

Once the network is done, anyone can put it in a communicator of their own. Just ask any engineer or knowledgeable nerd about it. A tablet, a phone, a helmet, your choice! Whatever they buy in a system! As long as it isn't in actual Atroma computers (like the ships' systems or the initial game communicators), it's valid. This also means what you can do with this network will depend on what device you use. A tablet will be able to store information and send files, an old Nokia brick can only do audio and maybe text. Stuff from home also counts if you regained anything like it! It can be now, it can be next month, no hurries; in one or more devices, it doesn't matter. The network is ours now so we can use it whenever we want. If you're new and are reading this months later, no worries! Your character can also learn about this and ask for their own device, handwaved it or threaded, that's up to you.

If you post to the IC comm from now on and are using this network instead of the Atroma one, please make note of that so characters know how to reply! Another nice perk of this plot is that this new network can be used to talk to the Interceptors in a more secure way. I'll make Shiro text them to tell them about this, so the Interceptors can add us to their address book, so to speak. Chat with them whenever you feel like it.

Lastly, Atroma knows about this. Just gonna quote the mods here: "This network is pretty large, and Atroma is always watching. Atroma will know it exists. There's no way around that. And, like the current line open to the Interceptors only, Atroma is going to be trying very hard to get into your network. We promise that you will be given a significant amount of forewarning and heads-up if Atroma actually manages to make any amount of progress toward getting in. Rest assured that 1) the odds of it happening are slim, 2) this would be way into the future, and we wouldn't just completely upend all of your hard work! An incredibly hard move on our part such as this would come with a lot of discussion and working together, as the consequences would be severe."

So there you have it! We're safe from now. Here is a mingle so we can thread out the activities through the month, be talking about it, working on it, putting it in devices later, etc. Good job, everyone. Looking forward to see what we can do with this. ♥

PS: So I don't spam the ooc comm, reminder here that Enable Me Please is coming next week. Use this post to add/remove/modify your ad if you wish to do so.
PS2: Starting this week, Shiro has a new arm now.

Hello, DF! Just making a quick post to remind everyone (and let the newbies catch up) of the little player plot we've going on! This ooc post is to gather resources, so to speak, and it will be sent to the mods this weekend. The more people that donate, the higher the chances this goes well. If it gets approved then I'll put up an IC mingle.

Have a nice week, everyone!

IMPORTANT PLAYER PLOT INCOMING, LET'S GIVE ATROMA THE MIDDLE FINGER

So!!! This month the mods are allowing us to make some crazy projects, including our own updates for our ships. They want us to circumvent the Atroma. Do you know what that means? We can finally make something the characters have talked about a couple of times: A PRIVATE NETWORK OF OUR OWN.

Here is the thread chatting about the idea with the mods, but let me put the important stuff here under the cut.

Gotta recycle all this trash )

Tldr: we can do this with the power of TEAMWORK. So if your character would be up to add their share of money to the idea, please comment! Also feel free to use this post to chat about all kinds of ideas you may think for this. If you're character is communications/engineer, that's also a plus, and any knowledge from home can also be of help. Anything you think may be of use for this plot please add away to your comment!

There aren't real dates for this except we're leaving this planet at the end of October, so that's a whole month to talk it out. ICly we can put up a mingle/discussion post when details are hashed out with the mods. Let's rock, DF!

The GLITCH PLOTTING meme

There are glitches going all around this month, and it can be hard to keep track of what's going on with who and where! So I thought I'd make this post so everyone can comment and plot. Remember: you can choose more than one glitch and cycle through them while we're drifting. And even if your character isn't glitching, feel free to reply to others to plan a thread!

Last call for cargo! The Marsiva will begin drifting away from the Hessia-Helix system soon - as of right now, actually! Hopefully you did a lot of shopping, kicked some pirate booty, and all-in-all just enjoyed yourself during your short stay!

Please keep an eye on the cargo and ensure it is safely delivered to the proper recipient in the next system. Thank you for your cooperation!

===========

As of this post, the Fleet is drifting! The drift period will last from 9/11 to 9/25.

Waystations are more or less as they were on the way in - sparsely populated, and still pretty generic. That alien version of Crazy 8s is still around - have you been practicing~?

And again, the Fanmail kiosk is still around! Check in on your adoring public!

… … … Okay, fleet, wanna find out what’s in those darn crates already? )

Hello fleeters! A quick post as a heads-up for two things:

1. The mingle post for the mini-plot regarding the testing of the SS ships is over here! Feel free to top level, comment around and mingle at will! For the new people or those that need the reminder, here is the ooc post with all the details. If your ship hasn't put in their vote yet there's still time, this can get backtagged forever. :)

2. Thanks to a conversation Shiro had with certain pair of werewolves, there is now a new document on the network. Completely legal for shenanigans. Thanks, mods. ♥

Hello DF! I'm writing today about some mini plots related to Atroma! Well, more like a mini thing to thread if anyone wants to and a player plot for August. It's short one, just one day, and it's opt in, so no worries about any plan you may have. Let's begin!

1.Mini thing: The thing on the Marsiva!
As you've probably already seen, Thor and his party of fancy space breathers went to the Marsiva to try to get in (to put it nicely). They weren't able to do it, but they discovered there's living liquid creature living in it. So! Now that Shiro's spoken to Thor, he would interested to know if people with sensing powers can feel it now we know what to look for exactly. The answer is no sadly (mod details) but I'm putting it out there in case anyone wants to say this is something that Shiro did with your chara - we can thread it or handwave it, but it's information for the power sensitive to have and another thing to try if they're bored. Sorry for the luck of results. :(

2.PLAYER PLOT: SS ZOOM also known as "Han Solo is an awful influence and I'm blaming everything on him this is for SCIENCE OK"

Alright, so here is the thing: Shiro and Han are dumbass daredevils pilots at heart and they've been talking about testing the limits of the SS ships, since usually those just fly along the Marsiva on a specific route. Boring! They're also curious about the limit of the Marsiva's gravitational pull, since they learned about that when they arrived but it was information passed by people and they wanna see it with their own eyes, check that it isn't just bullshit to keep them in check. Shiro put two rules, they would wait for drifting time and everyone in a crew must agree to join with their ship. This is both OOCly and ICly - like I said before, it's opt in. The Blameless is doing it for sure (I already discussed it with my crew) and everyone is welcome to join. The date for this will be August 8th and it will only last a couple of IC hours! A mingle will go up for it. Details behind the cut~

With everyone's hard work toward improving breathing masks, reinforcing Fleet shuttles, tracking down the gigantic mist beast, and trying to get to the bottom of just what the heck this mist stuff even is... a few discoveries have been made over time. And now, to solve one last system mystery - and figure out what the heck Atroma's so antsy about that the ever-elusive Hosts are actually deigning to broadcast themselves - it's time to take some action.

Dear, dear Fleet - are you feeling out of touch with the universe that has grown to love your beautiful face on the network? Not getting any sponsor drops lately? ... Hey players - want to put some excitement into your character's life, or just embarrass the heck out of 'em on intergalactic entertainment television?

Sounds like you'd like to read some Fleet Fanmail!!

As of the latest Atroma network broadcast, the Iskaulit now hosts a digital kiosk with a direct line to some fanmail for the characters in the fleet, written by any of your fans across the universe! Characters can access the kiosk at any time to see what the fans are saying, and they're encouraged to respond - publicly.

The contents of the fanmail can be anything from super serious questions about a character's dark and brooding past, to super ridiculous statements of "hi mom" or "step on me" or just "FIRST!". Feel free to run the gamut with what your fanmail happens to say, and let your character wonder about the collective sanity of the fannish population sometimes...

However, there are some stipulations:
  • If you want to respond to a fan letter, you MUST make a broadcast about it... or maybe your communicator will "accidentally" broadcast your reaction for you~?
  • Try not to get into canon material not yet mentioned in game. These are fans of Drift Fleet, not of your other canons!
  • Characters can only access mail meant for themselves. No mail-jacking!
  • Interacting with fanmail will definitely increase your ratings - taking things a step further and engaging with other characters based on your fanmail, such as competitions (who is the best singer? who can do the most pushups in a row? who's really the best cook in the fleet?!) or larger discussions, will boost them even more. ... Well, if the fans actually watch it, of course.

And to get the creative juices flowing.... you should check out our old fanmail meme posted last year!

And to really get the creative juices flowing - have a new one!!

You can use the fanmail memes to generate some great ideas for fanmail interaction/broadcasts on the network! While the meme itself obviously will not count towards AC, you're welcome to use threads as ideas for posts (with permission of any others involved!) and of course get AC that way.

Super shout-out and many thanks to RJ, who was the brains behind the original idea of having a recurring, always-open fanmail interaction option. We hope all of you get to enjoy this concept - we're certainly looking forward to seeing what comes from it!

Enjoy your fanmail, fleet! If you have any questions, hit us up here!

Characters have been hard at work over the past few weeks gathering intel, fortifying their positions and fixing up their ships (or trying). Communications are still somewhat spotty, but most people have been able to confirm that their friends on other ships are alive! Though the Vieziri are still raiding encampments and cities down below, and making things very difficult for those who were shot down by the anti-aircraft guns weeks ago, the Fleet has been doing what it does best: adapt.

But now, that changes. It’s time to strike back - to begin Phase Two of the plot! Given all that's happened up until now, here is what's to come:

    Hey DF!

Just making a quick post to say Shiro has asked the Interceptors for help and they accepted. So he'd send a message to all the other ships telling them the Interceptors are coming, and how maybe they should concentrate on fixing the ships and wait for them to move. This... would be handwaved tbh because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who has a big inbox thanks to the event right now. ^^; If you still wanna thread it out though please let me know and I'll gladly hit your inbox (captains and communication officers especially). Otherwise feel free to assume your ship has received a heads up. Or not, maybe communications are trolling them. It's up to you really! And reminder that the mods said that everyone can hit the Interceptors' inbox too, you know Angel misses our love. ;)

As of right this moment, you may assume that communications have been restored between ships grounded, and ships in orbit. AUDIO and TEXT are fully functional, though VIDEO still has a few seconds lag time. Those errors should iron out within 24-48 hrs, however.

Thanks to engineers and communications officers in orbit, the connection with The Interceptors has also been reestablished! Reaching out to them for help would be VERY beneficial to the Fleet at this time, and it appears some personnel are already on it! Feel free to establish your own connection with them as well. Note that all warnings concerning Atroma attempting to worm their way into that connection remain applicable.

Drift Fleet is officially three years old this month! As we have noted previously, the metaplot has been ramping up to this, the last major plot of the year. The culmination of players’ efforts over the past several systems and their actions in this one will have a major impact on the outcome of the plot as well as what will happen in the future.

Due to the intense nature of the upcoming event, we’re offering a variety of options that allow you to play in your comfort zone. We don’t want anyone to feel pressured or left out. If none of the options in this post suit you, please contact us via PM and we’ll work something out. ♥

TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR THIS PLOT INCLUDE:
  • Excessive Violence, Gore if players so choose
  • Cannibalism (implied in plot writeups, can be played with by players)
  • DEATH
  • High-Stress/Traumatic Situations
  • Torture/mutilation (implied in plot writeups)
  • Human Sacrifice

If that hasn’t scared you away - well, first, Happy Almost Halloween! Second, keep reading to find out what’s going on with this planet…

It's about to get real... )
