June Star System

Sometimes, you have to make the most out of being stuck.

CALENDAR:
→ The fleet will be in this star system from 6/4 to 7/2. ... Technically.
→ We’ll put up a mingle for the planet/system tomorrow - 6/5. Feel free to make your own posts and/or mingles too!
→ The Interceptors will be in touch for a massive Q&A session plus plan reveal on 6/9.

Can you hear me calling out to you?

After receiving a set of coordinates from the Interceptors and an invitation, the Marsiva finally drifts within the reach of the meeting place. It's special for a few reasons, but the most important one?

It sings.

Characters with supernatural abilities of any sort, including psychic powers, magic, etc., will feel restless as they enter the system, with a strong desire to spend time on the singing planet itself (and an immense energy boost when they do). Additionally, there's a low background static on everything that can play audio. The song's words are unintelligible, but it's incredibly nostalgic; some characters might swear it's the lullaby their mothers sang to them as children, while others might recognize it as a hymn or nursery song. It's different for each person but the feeling of it being achingly familiar is the same. Welcome to Naviadna.

Beauty from the Beginning

Like a few of the other singing planets, this one has been colonized, but it doesn't appear that it was terraformed. The planet is verdant and flourishing without the help of technology, wild and abundant and with as many varied and wonderful little ecosystems as one can imagine. But it isn't all untamed wild, either: there are cities-- big ones-- in the center of all this ecological madness. The original settlers of this planet were aliens unable to return home, and so the planet flourished from the kindness they showed it.

The cities themselves are built mainly of reflective materials not just because it's energy efficient but because it echoes the beauty of the land around it. The tall towers of the forest city, Feldannen, rise up like a castle mirage from the trees and surrounding wetlands, looking more like a fantasy than a real place. These cities are beautiful in their own right, making use of the earth around it as part of the city itself-- such as water features or incredible stone cutaways.

Interestingly enough, these cities are also very advanced. What appears to be technology also doesn't… make logical sense to those who are familiar with it. Those who are sensitive to magic and similar things may feel this energy is similar. It seems Naviadna's civilization is built on the principle that technology and magic are indistinguishable from one another!

The population here is more varied than on previous planets. There are the Co'kal, and some Dasioe, and some of those orange-skinned humans that appear to be wherever the Fleet visits. But there are others, too-- people with blue scales or protruding fangs, animal ears and tails… There are all sorts here, though due to intermingling they can sometimes be less obvious.

Wading into the wilds on one's own isn't exactly recommended due to the abundance of hostile wildlife. It isn't quite as colossal as, say, last system, but there are all sorts of nasties running around as well as the usual earth-adjacent bears, birds, etc. Actually… some of this wildlife hails from other worlds. It wouldn't be unheard of for someone from Ferelden to recognize a halla grazing alongside a herd of normal deer, for example, and there might be Moogles nestling somewhere!

Just outside Feldannen is a massive monument that can be seen for miles around. It looks to have been an older part of the city once, more bricks and mortar than glass and cool stone. Instead of abandoning it to ruins, however, it has been made into a memorial. A thousand names are carved into the walls along with some incomprehensible dates (a planet-specific early calendar, most likely). This isn't a well-kept secret or anything. In fact, anyone asked about the memorial or their own unique features will tell you that they are descended from world travelers. (This information is, of course, written in the memorial as well.)

A long time ago, at least a few hundred years ago, the singing planet somehow drew a group of people from many, many different worlds into this one place. Just that act alone tired her out enough that her song was weakened for a time, and she wasn't able to send them back. Without any other options, these people settled down and eventually gave rise to a new generation, and a generation after that.

A Very Vocal Singing Planet

After you've spent some time looking around and getting a feel for this place you'll be stuck for another month, you'll begin to notice that all of the planet's musical outreach seems pretty... insistent. No, it's not just your imagination - compared to previous singing planets, this one feels more intense. It sounds more intense. And even if you've never been sensitive to the previous singing planets, well, you're definitely hearing and feeling this one. Think of it as an alluring song, and the sensation of something tugging at you - not physically, but still somehow just as strong. This planet has something to say, and it really wants to talk to you. To all of you.

If you let it guide you, you'll find yourself on the banks of a rainbow pond surrounded by picturesque, pristine greenery. That pull grows in magnitude, the breeze kicking up into a frantic dust devil as it tosses skittering leaves at your feet. A spit of misty rain out of nowhere and a more insistent wind begs you to pay attention, and finally, something is able to speak into your mind with measured, clear words.

My sister. She's with you. But only barely.
I've missed her.
She's gathered you from other places. Same as I did before. But not by her own choice. She has no choice at all.
She can help you, if you can help her.
Let me help, too.

The weather stands down, the waves on the pond begin to slow, and that nagging, tugging feeling is gone. The song goes on - it always does - but the part meant specifically for you has been sung.

And if you look closely into the colorful depths of the pool in front of you, you might see something particularly helpful, in one way or another.

One Final Gift From Home

Glittering beneath the water is… something. Something big and vaguely shaped like a trunk sitting at the end of someone's bed. It's a couple feet beneath the water, so you'll have to hop in yourself to drag it out by the brass handles (or use magic). Once onshore, it's easy enough to undo the latch and see what's inside.

Despite the size of the trunk, what's inside varies depending on the character. A cool, calming breeze across one's cheek hints that this may be a gift from the singing planet itself. It could be a bunch of credits, it could be an outfit or a weapon or a personal effect, but one thing is for sure: it's probably wet. Whoops!

Standard rules for regains are at the bottom of the post. Please read them carefully before commenting to the Regains thread, as you might not need permission!

Meeting with the Interceptors

There is plenty of world to explore, and the chance to find things from other worlds that one might recognize is enough to keep anyone busy for a whole month, but don't forget that you have an appointment to keep. It's time to meet up and talk shop.

The coordinates given will lead you well away from any kind of center of civilization to a clearing in the middle of dense forest. The way there isn't entirely safe - there are monsters roaming about - but nothing here should prove too difficult to handle especially if you make sure not to travel alone. There, Dr. Mrs. The Monarch (" }|{ "), Duo, and Kid ("Angel") will meet with you. Hopefully being away from dense populations and any communications signals - including your own devices, which WILL NOT be allowed into the meeting - will be enough to keep Atroma from peeking in.

This is it - the final strategy meeting, and the final chance to get any answers that the Interceptors have. Do you have any lingering questions? Doubts? Any input for the battle to come? Maybe you have your own ideas? Want to know what will happen if - hopefully when - you succeed in kicking Atroma's ass? ... Do you want to try maybe giving one of them a hug? No matter what your intentions might be to attend this meeting, it's probably a good idea to show up.

For a general idea of how the meeting will go down, and an idea of how one might use this system to prepare for the upcoming end, here are the important talking points:
  • The plan - Includes attacking/boarding the Marsiva and dealing with Atroma once in there. Main takeaway: arm yourselves and your ships, and get ready to rumble.
  • After the plan - The question on everyone's mind: going home? Staying here? What are the options - if there are any?
  • Questions and answers - The Interceptors are ready to talk about anything and everything they've figured out so far.

Don't think your character would ICly go and would instead get all the info second-hand from someone else? Not to worry! There will be an OOC summary/recap of the meeting and everything discussed posted to the OOC comm before the final move into endgame territory (near the end of the time in this system). That way, you shouldn't have to dig through any individual threads - unless you really want to!

If you have any concerns or questions to be answered OOCly by the mods, just let us know on this post, as always!

Points of Interest

The Vanakaliva Islands
Looking for some rest and relaxation? Some fun in the sun? Does the thought of the upcoming battle make you want to slow down and spend some quality time either alone or with your loved ones in something that might be called paradise? Have we got a getaway vacation spot for you! Just a short way off one of the main coasts lies a ring of six islands that are nothing short of breathtaking to behold. From the crystal-clear blue waters, to the lush greenery and beautiful mountain peaks, there is plenty to fall in love with here.

Because honestly, it's about time for another proper Beach Episode~

Of course a place this beautiful would become a top-ranking hotspot for tourism. There are many resorts here, almost all of them with immediate beach access, ranging from low-key and more affordable to absolutely exuberant and all-inclusive with pampering. Some offer daytime boating or diving excursions! Some have beach sports set up on their shores! Some others have water parks, spas, meditation overlooks, training rooms for the more spiritually-inclined fighters... If you want to find it, someone on one of these islands has surely thought of it, so jump on in! Prefer to camp, or to explore the less populated and more nature-only areas of the island? Want to hike around until you find your own private beach far away from anyone else? That is also an option. However you want to spend your vacation, we hope it's a fun and restful one. It's well deserved, dear fleet. ♥

Just breathe.

Memorial of the First
The Memorial of the First just outside of Feldannen is worth a visit. It's as beautiful as it is reverent, a monument to those who never intended to end up in this place, yet helped this world become what it is today. You can scan the thousand names on the walls to see if you recognize any, but the chances of that are slim - maybe one family name sounds familiar, like it might be on the outer bounds of six degrees of separation, but it won't be anyone famous from your world. Whoever was brought here stayed here.

Historians employed here are happy to tell you stories about the first world-travelers to arrive here, so if you're curious about how this planet flourished so greatly, this is a great place to start. And, of course, there's a gift shop! Buy a coffee mug with all thousand names printed on it with font so tiny you pretty much can't read it anyway!

Lerian Magitech Institute
In a world where the line between technological advancement and magical intervention is blurred enough to be nearly nonexistent, leading experts in either field - both fields, some of them - have come together to pave the way forward. The Lerian Magitech Institute has two main campuses, one in the northern hemisphere and one in the southern hemisphere. Both campuses are stunning not only in architecture and reputation, but also in the enormous scale of magitech research done in both locations.

If you want to learn how their magitech works (as well as they all understand it, anyway) then this is the perfect place to start. If you need anything engineered or commissioned - such as ship parts, heavy artillery, or maybe your own personal cool and useful thing for maybe a fight ahead, hint hint - someone here will likely assist you with it. Got any creative ideas? ICly, see if you can make it happen! OOCly, ask the mods and we'll see what we can do~

Planetwide Library System
Nerd alert! There's a digital/physical library system that spans the planet, and every important research institution and library is hooked into it. It also contains an archive of the notes and information the original settlers left behind regarding their worlds, as well as everything else they discovered when they made this world their new home.

There is quite a lot for the discerning scholar, everything from notes on the ecosystem and its non-native inhabitants that followed them over, to family trees and dissertations on the magitech that powers the most mundane objects. (Please be careful of the notes left behind by the First as they are very, very old.)

Characters may find media hailing from their worlds and others, but please do not break the fourth wall out of respect for your fellow players. Otherwise, go crazy!

Shopping
The shops here are plentiful and varied, and they stock things that one would find in a more fantasy-oriented shop (your broadswords, longbows, bolts of cloth, leather, herbs and food) as well as more contemporary things (camping gear, actual fashionable clothes, electronic gadgets, CDs, etc.) Technology is magic!

Recreation
The cities are big, which makes sports competitions a big attraction (as well as a big tradition)! Among the games played are ritzball, which is played in a magitech-powered sphere of water, and the more earthly tennis. Ice skating is big too, not only as a competitive sport but for leisure too. There are some dizzyingly incredible sights to see for fans and competitors alike as the stadiums are nestled up against the scenery, so one might be able to see the ocean as well as a few trick shots.

The art community leans more toward postmodern tastes, but there is a museum with artwork tracing all the way from the First and their children. It's an interesting window into what the world used to look like before it blossomed into what it is today.

Jobs
Work is plentiful around here - jobs need doing, and help is always wanted! Security, customer service, research and engineering technical assistance... most any job is available, and they'd love the help - and the chance to talk with people from other worlds just like their ancestors!

Want something more freelance? That's available too! Naviadna has a vast mercenary and adventurer's network that will help connect people with jobs that need doing. Gathering jobs, hunting jobs, bodyguard positions - it's all there, and it pays pretty darn well! What's so dangerous around here? Well... Along with wildlife and people from other worlds, some monsters from other worlds also showed up here when the planet pulled everyone and everything in. (Feel free to recognize some!) Fortunately, it didn't take long for people to get a request system up and running to take care of the steady monster population, since they had similar in their own worlds! Convenient!

Regains!

Here are the rules and stipulations for regains in this system:
  • Regains do not need to be mod approved, EXCEPT if it is a living thing, a weapon, or a memento from a previous game/psl.
  • Regains must be able to be carried by a typical human being. No cars/vehicles, etc.
  • Personal keepsakes, costumes, pictures, letters, books, your character’s favorite frying pan-- these are all allowed and won’t require mod permission. No sign up necessary!
  • For items that are actually part of a set, we will leave it up to your discretion. You don’t have to ask for one spice at a time when you’re aiming for a spice rack. You can regain a trilogy of books, or maybe even a few more books, as long as it’s carryable. If it’s a weapon or something else that needs mod approval, however, please mention this in your comment.
  • Only canon pets/companions are allowed. As usual, they will be greatly nerfed if they have special abilities. You will need mod permission for this type of regain.
  • Weapons and parts of weapons, such as upgrades to a person’s mechanical arm or other equipment, are allowed. You will need mod permission for this type of regain.
  • Items and mementos from a previous game are allowed as long as they aren’t specific to the mechanics of the game, i.e. no sentient Exsilium weapons, no Crosschecks pets, no collars from Facility. If it’s an item from another canon that your character received from another character, these will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You will need mod permission for this type of regain.

Please reply to the "REGAINS" comment below if your regain needs mod approval, or if you have a question, need clarification, or aren't quite sure.

If you want something other than a regain, just drop us a line at the "REGAINS" comment below and let us know what you think you'd like to be gifted with! We will work with you (following the same general stipulations for regains, as outlined above) and make sure you get something you want, too!

As always, you may ask questions under the "QUESTIONS" subthread if you'd like more info on something.

Or anything interesting he might learn about the First while he's going on this little fact hunt of his?

I'd like Minako to get her transformation wand.

Also, can Keith get a mini Black Lion like the other Voltrons got during the last regain system? :D

I guess it's a quasi-weapon, so- I'd like Lup to get the Animus Bell. A depowered version (sans the light of creation boost) but more or less still good for siphoning life energy, enhancing necromancy spells, and stabilizing liches.

Abel would like his colt revolver gun, the Peacemaker. It's a canon item. It's a reminder and keepsake from his homeworld. For all of this time, he thought it was forever lost!

Would it be possible for Undertaker's one particular sotoba to be able to shift back into his death scythe if he wants it to again?
