Drift Fleet is officially three years old this month! As we have noted previously, the metaplot has been ramping up to this, the last major plot of the year. The culmination of players’ efforts over the past several systems and their actions in this one will have a major impact on the outcome of the plot as well as what will happen in the future.

Due to the intense nature of the upcoming event, we’re offering a variety of options that allow you to play in your comfort zone. We don’t want anyone to feel pressured or left out. If none of the options in this post suit you, please contact us via PM and we’ll work something out. ♥

TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR THIS PLOT INCLUDE:
  • Excessive Violence, Gore if players so choose
  • Cannibalism (implied in plot writeups, can be played with by players)
  • DEATH
  • High-Stress/Traumatic Situations

The Marsiva continues its drifting, tugging everyone along behind it, for about a week. Once everyone makes it through the rather light asteroid field, they will be greeted with a wonderful planetary view... as well as a somewhat familiar surge through the comms.

    CALENDAR:
→ The fleet will be in this system from 9/1 to 9/28.
→ There will be a significant plot event on 9/16. More details will be given then.

By the end of the second week, the rumors slowly begin to fade away. No new ones seem to appear, and the old ones are left to linger or be forgotten. But now after a long journey through the depths of space, the Marsiva finally reaches orbit of a new system.

The week of travel has passed on peacefully. Aside from a few unusual glitches on a number of ships, the drift week has been much less eventful than the last time. Space traffic picks up as the Marsiva approaches the next system. This isn’t the busiest stretch of space the fleet has come across, it’s enough to signal that yet again, the fleet has reached a new system.

It’s been a few days since the raiders attacked. Thanks to the combined efforts of your crews and the other fleet, you made it out alive. But there’s no doubt repairs need to be done and people need to be treated. Luckily, it’s only a couple of days before the next system comes into range.

After the mystery and isolation of their last destination, the Marsiva seems determined to head to brighter, busier territory. After a long journey through remote, nebula-painted space, speeding along at a brisk pace for the Host ship, the Marsiva brings her Fleet to a sudden and prominent point of traffic.

It seems that the Fleet has happened upon some sort of vacation destination! Maybe Atroma thinks that the passengers deserve some rest and relaxation... or just wants to distract them with something huge and shiny.

After a stretch of empty space, the Marsiva finally skirts the Fleet along the boundaries of another star system. But around the time that their unswerving Host Ship should be headed straight for a planet or other obvious stopping-point, no celestial body looms up in front of the drifting ships. Only bustling, dingy way-stations lie in her direct path. This time, the Marsiva seems intent on letting any planets stay at the very edge of her range as she wings around the system.

Whether the Fleet’s guide has a distant destination in mind, or a nearby one that she is trying to avoid, the change in her behavior is notable to those who have flown with her long enough. And a mysterious signal pinging from a planet at the edge of the Fleet’s reach probably has something to do with it…

The Hosts have returned, the passengers are left with mysterious hacking devices to experiment with, and the Fleet is finally approaching the next inhabited patch of space. Perhaps this next location will have exhibit some of the same feelings of peace and unity that the passengers may have been missing since leaving the last star system...

...Or, maybe they will find themselves in the middle of a sprawling territory divided by conflicting ideologies. At least the ratings will be good! Drama makes the worlds go ‘round, Drift Fleet!

It has been a couple of weeks since the departure from the Toxic Moon, leaving its inhabitants with a hope and a prayer, drifting through very silent space toward the unknown. Augments have been acting up, passengers have been restless and frustrated, and all this time, your gracious hosts have been silent. It almost seems as though the Marsiva is putting purposeful distance between the Fleet and that now-altered moon, and is heading out toward some distant goal far from the well-beaten path.

Starting 6/23, a new star system finally comes into range, with only one planet that gleams like a gem in the middle of nothingness.

As previously mentioned, passengers may have noticed the people of this polluted little moon getting ready for some sort of party. The population has stayed rather hush-hush about the whole thing... Until now! Decorations are going up, shops are filling with special merchandise, and everyone is chattering about how the Gravity Rush celebration is only a week away.

Gumballs and robot shenanigans aside, the Marsiva has guided everyone well away from the excitement of the last station, and all of the traffic associated with it. It looks like the Host ship is once more heading out into the boonies, drifting through a sector of the galaxy where the only traffic is cargo transports and business freighters flying along the interstellar highways.

It's here, out in the middle of nothing-in-particular, that your loving hosts finally reappear with a cheery update! While passengers become familiar with with the next spot of civilization, the hosts will check in alongside the next Drift Fleet Shuffle, thanking everyone for their cooperation with that whole Maldua business.

These few weeks of uneventful travel have been odd, what with all the radio silence from Atroma's boisterous hosts. The Marsiva never falters in her predetermined path, as always, but Diamond and Beau have been quiet ever since the mysterious "calibrations". Add in the steady influx of passengers into already-crowded ships, without explanation or respite, and the whole thing might seem a little suspicious.

But just when it seems like the Fleet might really have slipped beyond the hovering reach of Atroma somehow, contact is reestablished!

The space-traffic nearby begins to increase, until the Drift Fleet finally joins what seems to be a mainstream path of travel through the stars. The Marsiva obeys the rules of the road and guides the Fleet through vast checkpoints, which ship sensors can confirm are gracing the hulls with some rudimentary scanning. As the Fleet approaches what seems to be a massive space station in the distance, a familiar jingle will announce an overhead announcement, followed by Diamond's cheery voice breaking in with the following message:

"Thank you all for agreeing to deliver this important cargo to our associates on the HS Maldua. Once all packages are deposited, unopened and unharmed, the contract will be considered complete and you will receive your payment!"

Since December is a little crazy for some players (and mods), and because we're still on the tail of a dramatic plot, this month's event is more of an "open setting" type. There are lots of things to do, and characters have lots of room to do their own things. From Dec 10th to about Jan 11th, in addition to the boring-but-reliable waystations that dot their cosmic path, the Marsiva will bring all ships in range of a brand-new, chilly-looking planet...

The Drift Fleet left that little fleet of racer-ships behind a long time ago... But you won't be alone for long! This new Star System will be a little more involved than the last, but is also built to leave plenty of room for players and characters to work on personal projects, meet new people, or just catch up after the last month or so.

Since we got this out late, this September event will actually run into part of October. The Drift Fleet's first birthday is on October 5th (yay, us!) so we will also be giving you guys some details about the setting we have planned to follow this event, starting later that month! Since it will be a very focused event, we want to give everyone plenty of time to start planning for it now.

In the meantime, let us see what awaits our passengers on...

With the grim fate of the Iskaulit still fresh in many passengers' minds, the Fleet and its new tag-along ship continue to drift along a path almost parallel to that of the launched bug pods. This part of space continues to be very quiet, with no sign of any traffic (friendly or otherwise), until Marsiva comes within communication range of a large, blue planet...

This Star System will be in range starting July 12th! Some features of this planet are meant to help continue and/or conclude many of the issues brought up on the Iskaulit, while others offer low-key, lighthearted things for your characters to do. There's space to work on whatever you want--so don't be afraid to play out character projects, or just kick back and relax!

Since it took us longer than expected to get this Star System ready to post, we're extending the initial end-date out into August to give everyone plenty of time to play. The rest of August after that will be filled with a short, weird little event while both event-writing mods will be out of town, and then we will return to our usual month-long Star Systems in September!

    How it starts... )

    About the blue planet... )

Things to do (on the islands, about the Iskaulit, and some augment glitches!) )

As always, please feel free to ask any other questions you may have under the "Questions" comment! You can also use this post to plot with each other, or to work through/gather interest for any projects or ideas your characters have had lately. We've tried to leave some room for everyone, so have fun with whatever interests you the most!

Whether or not your ships are back in top form, the Marsiva is moving onto the next star system, and taking you with her! There are no further attacks or signs of the mysterious ships that had swooped in before. The fleet's journey into the May system is a peaceful one.

This star system's stations will be available all month, while the planet will not come into range until May 11th.

As the Fleet leaves the moons behind and the frequency interference finally clears away completely, communications officers may once again notice little blips at the edges of their radar... that are gone almost as soon as they're detected. Whoever they are, they don't want to be noticed, and there's no sign of them for the rest of the month.

Maybe it's because this region of space is busier than usual... After all, the Fleet has reached an intergalactically-famous vacation spot:

The amazing and historically-accurate world of Mor!
