Dancing with the Rocks

Hello, dear Fleet! Feeling a little bit fancy lately? Want an excuse to get all dressed up and schmooze with the system's finest people? Just want some free food and booze? Well, we have a golden opportunity for you: A formal ball has been announced, invitations reaching all throughout the asteroids! And as welcome visitors to the system, you are of course cordially invited to attend as well!

The Ball will be held at the home of Orfwyn Dreadhorse, who you may have heard about during your time here so far! Mr. Dreadhorse is a system-famous rock star - essentially a god in the world of metal - and he’s an incredibly big deal. He’d have to be to own an entire asteroid after all, right? He’s ludicrously famous, exorbitantly wealthy, and wants nothing more than to have a good time, all of the time.

Those who have spent any time in some less savory company here, or have somehow gotten themselves wrapped up in any underground rings, have probably heard even more about this man: there are whispers that he’s very involved in some shady dealings - that he may even be a warlord, or some sort of crime boss leading a double life.

But! Whether or not you believe that Mr. Dreadhorse is indeed so shady, does it really matter? Word is, he throws one hell of a party, the kind you’ll never forget! From the multiple open bars with huge selections, to stellar entertainment, to the best catering in the entire system, this is absolutely a ball to go down in Fleet history, at the very least.

So what do you say, visitors? You ready for the greatest, grandest, most metal formal ball ever?!

The Ball.
The ball will taking place on May 12th, on Mr. Dreadhorse’s personal asteroid. While this ball is usually reserved for high profile folks in the Belt, stories of the fleet’s ventures has spread enough to catch them an invite. Which ventures earned them an invite is up to you. For example, perhaps the band your crew formed has gained enough traction that you’ve been asked to perform at the ball. Maybe your ATV racing skills have earned you something of a celebrity status, and they want to see if you perform stunts. If your character hasn’t done anything of note in the system, don’t worry! In that case, they’ll be invited because they are part of the fleet that help save the Daisoe, regardless of if they participated in that plot or not. You can even have your character gatecrash the party by some means, if you want their invite to have gotten lost in the mail.

To enter the ball, characters will need to wear some sort of formal wear, or they’ll be turned away at the entrance. There’s no particular theme to this ball, so passengers are encouraged to get as creative as they’d like! There’s shops all over the system that cover anything from traditional formal wear, formal wear with a rock-and-roll flair, formal-looking costumes, and ones that only sell the latest fashion craze. What qualifies as formal wear seems pretty loose at this party, so players are welcome to get creative as they’d like with what their characters wear.

The ball itself will be a massive event. Mr. Dreadhorse likes to go all out when he throws these events. More details will come with the event mingle, but expect good food, live music from several bands, live entertainment, and plenty of dancing. If you’re interested in having your character perform in some manner at the ball, this can completely be arranged! Just let us know down in the comments below, and we can work something out!

The Heist.
For those who need more incentive to go than an amazing party, not long after passengers start to receive the invitations, the Interceptors will be contacting the fleet. They’re under the impression that through his shadier business, Mr. Dreadhorse has some information on Atroma that they could really use. But security on Mr. Dreadhorse’s asteroid is very tight, so they’re going to need the fleet’s help to obtain it.

More details about the heist will come with the event post, but expect plenty of sneaking, fighting guards, breaking into security system, etc. There’s no limit on how many characters can participate in the heist, but they must attend the ball in order to participate (so dress up in your fanciest thief outfit!!). In addition, the only weapons that can be brought along are ones that can reasonably be hidden in formal wear. ICly it’ll take place late in the evening, so characters that do participate will have plenty of time to still party it up at the ball. Otherwise, characters are welcome to stay at the ball to keep an eye on things, or simply ignore the heist altogether and party the night away.

EDIT --> Interceptor Message

Thanks goes to Eli for suggesting having a party! We hope you like what we came up with.

This event will take place on Friday, May 12th, though characters can start receiving invitations now and begin planning for it. There’ll be two mingles put up (one for the ball and one for the heist, so the comments don’t get too overwhelming). An OOC post with information about the heist’s conclusion will be posted on Sunday, May 14th, but players are encouraged to continue backtagging either mingle as long as they want.

All of this is meant to act as a lead up to the long awaited return of the Calibrations plot, which will be taking place in June. The format of this round of Calibrations will be different, but it will follow the same theme of experiencing other characters mindscapes and memories. More details about that will come later this month. Until then, party hard!

And as always, if you have any questions about anything above, feel free to ask in the QUESTIONS section below.

Hey, I'd love for Stefan to be part of the live entertainment! He wouldn't headline anything; most likely, he would perform with Freyja or Eithan or someone else who has enough charisma (and frankly, confidence) to carry a show.

If this could be worked out, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Will something like metal detectors be used to say scam for guns and say if someone hid a gun in a fake metal arm would that be enough to sneak it through if they do?

This was sort of already resolved on Plurk, but I'm putting here so others can see it as well.

If someone buys a weapon in the system in order to stash it and bring it along for the heist, this is something they'd be allowed to keep with them going forward, yes?
