Important Update

Hey, team. In light of a recent incident between characters that has left many players uncomfortable, we are instituting a few official rules and guidelines for the game, effective immediately. While we understand that there are plenty of grey areas when it comes to so many different sorts of characters, we hope that having a line drawn in the sand will help players know when something is definitely not okay, and help keep everyone mindful of the fact that some things can be very upsetting for other players, especially when they are not expecting to come across it.

Firstly, we are making an official statement that Drift Fleet is intended to be a game for players ages 18+. While not the main theme of the game, we've always wanted to allow players the freedom to explore darker or mature subjects that may not be appropriate for younger audiences. So, as we are laying down general content guidelines, it seems like a good time to make the content rating of the game official. (Also, we have assumed in the past that no one here is under the age of 18--but if you are, please send us a message letting us know, and we'll work it out.)

That being said--we don't want characters under the age of 15 to be involved with drugs or sex acts while in this game. Having these things present in a character's backstory is fine, but having it happen during their stay in the fleet will not be allowed. We also understand that there can be grey areas, special cases, and strange technicalities when it comes to the ages and appearances of some characters, but when it comes time to deliberate over this on a case-by-case basis, please keep in mind that this is an extremely sensitive topic. If you ever have any questions or concerns about this, please let us know.

And finally, we request that all information included on character information and permissions pages be as clear and honest as possible, including ample content warnings for what might be encountered in threads with said character. We don't want to make anyone screen the content of their threads or be chased away to museboxes for heavy subject matter, but we do request that players give plenty of warning in their information pages of what might be encountered when reading or playing with the character.

These new points will be made clear on the Overview, Game Details, and Application page to avoid any future confusion.

In regards to the incident itself, we want to thank everyone who addressed their concerns and were willing to work with us to find a solution. Both of the players involved have been given a strike, and the event has been retconned out of Drift Fleet canon.

Since this is a sensitive topic, we ask that any further concerns regarding this issue be brought to us privately, either over Plurk, or by sending a message to this mod journal.
