Hello Flooters! For anyone who hasn't met me yet, I'm Alice and play Dr. Crusher. I would like to do a semi-planning post with any of the lab support/doctors/healers (both magical and scientific!) regarding the cure for the Junebugs. Dr. Crusher and Dr. Bashir have been working on one, and it is my intention that a cure be found (though obviously too late to do this crew any good), but it's only fair to discuss this with all the medical people, as the existence of a cure will undoubtedly affect your character down the road as the consequences of this month's plot play out. And of course, any of you are welcome to chip in! Beverly will be glad of the help!

So, my main questions for you would be: has your character also done any research into this, is your character interested in combining efforts towards finding a cure, and if so, do you want to thread any of the process out or is handwaving it alright? I admit I lean towards the latter, seeing how close it is to the end of the month, but I still wanted to ask, so that we can all be more or less on the same page about this. Thanks!

Simon obtained a corpse thanks to River and has done a thorough dissection of said bug. Jennifer has mostly been analyzing others' data, if they've been willing to share with her.

Both of them would like to find a cure, and handwaving it is A-OK with me.

Cool! Beverly and Bashir both performed autopsies and Beverly would definitely share that info as well as her adventures around the ship data with both Simon and Jennifer. The Junebugs were working on a cure before they were too far gone, but a lot of those files have been corrupted, so there is not a whole lot to work with there. :|a I think the only other detail I have right now is that Bashir is thinking of an airborne delivery method? But yeah! I will add them to my mental list of who all is working on this!

What Julian was not an autopsy, it was poking and humming and then reading Beverly's results while looking at the corpse...

And as you know, Julian is a hundred and twenty percent into finding a cure. If not for these poor bugs, then for the species as a whole when someone finds the ship.

Oop, sorry my bad! But yes obsessive Starfleet doctors for the cure!

Shirley is all for helping to find a cure, although the most she can contribute in this respect is whatever the lab support augment already provides. She can help rally people and get supplies, if that would be more helpful.

Handwaving is cool, and would probably be necessary for me anyhow due to a short impending RP absence.

Yay! Whatever way she can contribute will be fine... and considering she's shadowing Beverly a little anyways, it makes total sense that she'd be around and helping out.

Coil had been doing extensive dissection on deceased specimens, so knows quite a bit about their anatomy... though he was stopped before he managed to perform any tests on live candidates. So, his mad science was only partially successful. ha ha.

Also, if they still need it, he can handle discovering that both fire and vacuum environments can kill the spores, and that they show signs of deterioration when deprived of the tissues of their hosts. So, the fire and vacuum purge that people are talking about will work, and other spores will die out over time on their own, as long as they have no bug tissue to grow on.

If you need someone to provide that information, that is exactly the sort of thing he'd have been working on, and would willingly text over the information on it.

Oh, yeah that'd be perfect! Beverly hasn't done any work in that regard, so that would be a great help, especially to Vision.

Adra's in favor of finding a cure, and it's safe to handwavily presume he's been working on that--and would be glad to share findings with other med-types. Though his finding at present is mostly 'never met a disease I can't cure so this is frustrating and weird' X)

Beverly understands your frustration, Adra (Not that she's never not been able to save someone, but it's still pretty rare). An airborne fungicide seems like our most likely route at the moment, but whatever it ends up being, they'll have it down the road if they need it.
