October Star System
We made it to our first system! Congratulations, everyone! I bet you're all eager to get out of your ships and do stuff, so this is the place where you will find what there is to do.
Normally, there will be jobs that you can say your crews are engaging in, and maybe even dangers that they're dealing with, but this first system is pretty tame. For October, there are only way-stations, and a planet that will be coming up later in the month.
Anyone is welcome to make posts from any random station from here on in--implying that your ship is parked to refuel, you're stopping in via shuttle, etc. Way-stations have network screens and bank panels all over, just like on the ships of the fleet, and they work the same way. So, you can have broadcast as well as action elements to any posts made from way stations, if you choose.
Planet:
More on this later! The planet will likely be in range Oct 20 - Nov 3
Way-Stations:
The way-stations in this system are pretty damn basic. They're basically big discs, with docking ports along the rim, and both sides are gravitized for foot traffic. The center area of both sides of the disk are courtyards encased in an invisible atmospheric force bubble, open to the full view of space overhead. The ring surrounding the courtyard and connecting to the docking rim is an enclosed building, sort of like a very vacant mall.
Kind of like this! I am an artist, you see...
The stations here basically seem to have been built for WAY more traffic than they're getting. ...In fact, this fleet seem to be pretty much the only people here. Even when it looks like there are other ships parked in the docks, there is no one walking around once they park and start to explore.
And, since there seem to be no other people around, absolutely everything on the stations is automated, and protected under the same mysterious thing that keeps the fleet safe from being destroyed or tampered with. All entertainment is electronic or manual, all shopping is done through elaborate vending machines.
Courtyard: Really way too big and empty. There are a few benches, picnic tables, and plastic trees planted into the cement. It's probably supposed to look like a lovely outdoor park. And it fails badly.
Entertainment: Inside the mall ring, there are a variety of things for "recreation" that can be found... though, most stations only have one or two of these things still present and functional, so characters might have to travel around a bit to find something specific they want.
→ Slot machines (very rigged)
→ Simple games that have hologram versions of the parts that would normally get stolen (prone to malfuntion): darts, chess, pool, skee-ball, etc.
→ Arcade-style games (free but also prone to malfunction): pinball, shooter games, fighting games, etc.
Shopping: Everyone has been given a very small starting allowance, and payments from ratings are barely beginning to trickle in. Therefor, every character is likely able to afford only one of the following packages. Each package is designed to last a single average user about one month.
→ Snacks (junkfood like chips, snack cakes, pork rinds, etc.)
→ Foodstuffs (unidentified root vegetables, flour, sugar, salt, powdered milk, and dried unidentified meat)
→ Games (deck of cards, board game with unintelligible or missing instructions, and ping pong paddles with single ball)
→ Alcohol OR cigarettes OR crappy street drugs
→ Casual clothes (some assortment of the following in either primary colors or monochrome: t-shirts, sweatpants, cloth shorts, jeans, wind breakers)
Questions! If you have them, please ask them here!

Also! Vash wants to know which department to complain to about the use of his nickname as a last name!
no subject
Also, there is actually a complaints form somewhere on the network! Vash is welcome to fill it in and submit it. He just... won't ever get a response back. :D
no subject
Well, Vash will be filling out DAILY complaints forms complaining about how he didn't sign up for this and the lack of donuts and proper food. :|b Nicely worded form letters and slightly different each time! After all! Maybe he just didn't fill it out EXACTLY right. He'll probably give up the daily thing and move to monthly after the first month. At least it passes some time.
Oh. And one about just addressing him as Captain Vash if you must. Or even better just Vash. No Stampede. He is not a stampede. Please never do that again.
