Here's how it works:

okay. Well, I much prefer Hange as a woman to a male in the first place, and to be honest as far as I recall Isayama just kind of went "WELL YOU CAN THINK OF HANGE AS WHATEVER YOU WANT" when the gender wank came up. As much as I'd love Hange as an explicitly agender character, stated as agender and envisioned that way from the beginning, I don't think that's what we got. Also I don't want to attract giant clouds of wank.

I'd actually write fic and love to read fic t hat explored different interpretations of Hange's gender, especially as a non-binary character, I'm just not rping it that way.
