The Handwaved CR Meme!

Our characters live in close quarters, and it's impossible to thread out the minutiae of each and every day-to-day interaction! That's what this meme is for: helping establish some of the less "exciting" details of what our characters are up to and what acquaintances they might have!

Examples:

• Folks on the SS Bishop with Tadashi might frequently see him in the kitchens, desperately trying to recreate a mixture of protein gel that tastes ANYTHING like a Reese's cup.
  
• People on the SS Blue Fish probably hear Katara and Sokka arguing loudly about something REALLY dumb at least every three or four days.

I'm going to put up headers for each ship, for general ship-related things (like what I've listed above), but please feel free to just take those as jumping off points, and don't at all feel like you're restrained to only commenting on your own ship (e.g., Jade has probably been lurking around the Wonderduck for the past week despite being currently assigned to another ship.) Make your own top-levels, build some handwaved CR, and let's smush our characters together!

SS PATHSTONE

Crowley spends most of his time on the ship sleeping. You will almost never find him at his communications console, unless he's putting some troll-y game on the network.

He's making a bar on the Iskaulit (in pretend competition with Varric, they actually plan to purposefully keep the same prices. So Crowley gets the classy folks and Varric gets everyone else) So he's there quite a bit right now.

He's an alcoholic so he's drunk about 90% of the time, tbh.

Also Tek's mate, though he's still in denial about that, he sleeps in the giant nest bed a lot.

Also on occasion sets up pranks in the ship to fuck his crewmates off. We're talking wet paint without a sign, buckets of water on doorways - that level of childishness.

He grows houseplants and has them dotted around. He threatens them regularly (it makes them grow better)

Cole is the lunatic in charge of where the Pathstone goes. He likes going to other ships, often without any warning to his or their crew.

• Cole talks to everything. Doors, clothes, tables. Plants especially.
• He really doesn't eat, drink or sleep.
• He calls Elize his little sister.
• He's very attached to Jove.
• He's got an arguably unhealthy emotional thing going on with Solas.
• As a spirit of compassion, he knows all the bad stuff in your life. He's lived it. He feels it. He'll discuss it with you without any prompting.

Tek is 90% of the time a lazy ass. He can usually be found either sleeping or reading old impressive-looking books in his nest, though also frequents the kitchen or whatever seat he's deemed the most comfortable on the bridge. Though he keeps most of his things in his bunk, he absolutely never sleeps there, because the "Captain" bed has been moved and incorporated into his nest.

He doesn't eat every day, but he tends to clear out quite a bit of the food when he does.

He always uses up all the hot water when he showers. And he enjoys frequent showers.

Will engage in small-talk, light teasing, and sarcastic comments, but rarely seeks out conversation or company beyond that.

He is watching, though.

SS BLOODSPORT

Simon Tam is the doctor of the good ship Bloodsport, and as such he spends a lot of time in the medbay.

-He works out in his spare time, as he likes to stay healthy.
-When in the medbay, he can be found studying the various plants and herbs he's picked up (or been given) to try and figure out their effects.
-He's been depressed since River left and tends to be a bit reclusive. However, he'll be polite and cordial if you come to visit him.
-He often goes to the Iskaulit, as well, when he doesn't want to be found.

Nami is co-pilot of the Bloodsport and new, so she spends a lot of time getting familiar with the whole piloting thing.

- She takes long hot baths every day. And will for a while, until she gets used to having hot running water she didn't have to provide herself.
- Vash visited her with gift bottles of whiskey, so she's often nursing that, too. Never been anything but sober, though.
- She asks a lot of questions re: various jobs and the timeline of the fleet.
- She's also pretty friendly, though, so will hang out and small-talk with willing people as well without prying much into their actual lives.
- When she has nothing else to do, she's probably down on the treadmill. She hates the confined space and walking helps her think, so.

Riku is currently security personnel and also the first mate of the Bloodsport!

- He has pretty vivid nightmares, so if you're awake at odd hours you'll find him walking around the ship aimlessly during times he should be asleep, or nursing tea.
- He pretty aggressively takes care of everyone, or at the very least tries to. He will pop in to make sure people have eaten/slept/etc.
- Meditates every day in various places.
- Cooks a lot, and pretty well, too! (He doesn't eat very much, however.)
- Miiight hear him sing in the shower. He's got a nice singing voice, but he'll probably stop singing if he ever hears anyone nearby.

Bigby Wolf is tactical on the Bloodsport. He doesn't know what that means. His bunk room is sacrosanct, that's his den and where he hangs out mostly.

• Despite being a bit of a loner, Bigby enjoys listening to people.
• He will happily talk about himself and his pass if people are interested. He just assumes people aren't interested. All the Fables know each other too well.
• He can identify and track all his ship mates by scent. He doesn't advertise that.
• He's a giant wolf. He just wears a human shape for dealing with you people.
• Katie, Remus and Sascha have been adopted as pack. He will deny this if ever confronted with it.
• Fair. Just. Brutal as fuck.

SS THREE TWINS

Vash is your resident pilot who seems only capable of not being a moron when attacked by other ships. Also one of the rare people on this ship who is clothed. At all times.

He is very careful to not be spotted mid-change when using the shower. Although crew probably would have noticed by now some scaring on the back of his right hand and around his right thumb. Almost like it's been stitched back on. For the few times he takes his gloves off. Otherwise Vash is always dressed in the body armor he showed up in from neck to toe and red coat. Or the set of long sleeved and pant pajamas he's picked up along the way. With either socks or slippers on his feet so only the occasional scar around each ankle/heel area shows.

Other things to note:

-He has a morning work out routine. Mostly done in his tiny room so he doesn't have to try sit up with his coat on, but that treadmill does get used!
-Still trying to self teach himself how to make donuts with what they have on board. He is good about cleaning up any messes he makes.
-Is always happy to have Nel or anyone come in at anytime. Although requests a knock first.
-Spends a couple hours everyday looking over the charts at his station trying to find anything familiar. Spoliers; he fails.
-His hair isn't spikey all the time. He does have to style it after each shower. He can have terrible bedhead sometimes.
-He'll still casually flirt with the girls on the ship, but by now it should be clear he doesn't actually mean anything to go further. Just silly flirting for fun.
-He came on board with a pack of cards and is always ready to play with someone to pass the time.
-Makes sure to have a couple bottles of some kind of booze tucked away for an emergency between planets.
-All and all Vash is almost always happy, smiling, with a joke quick at hand when needed. However, for crew with excellent hearing when Vash thinks he's alone he does occasionally cry to himself in his room. Quickly hiding it away if anyone knocks for smiles again.
-Also on rare occasions when he's really frustrated over finding nothing familiar again he can be caught starting seriously off into space. (Haha, space joke.) Again, going back to the smile and changing topic if anyone catches him or asks him about it.
-Is unfazed by the nudity on his ship by now, but still will act surprised/upset about it now and again because he can.

SS BLUE FISH

Allen Walker

If you ever wish to interact with Allen on the Blue Fish, he can usually be found either in the medical bay or at the exercise equipment in the cargo bay during the day, or in the kitchen around meal times. He is often accompanied by Timcanpy. Timcanpy may also be found in other spots of the ship where Allen isn't (just let me know if you decide to have him around)- but far away from any cats.

Other things to note:

Ino, Crowley and Clay may often be visitors to the ship to see him - or in Crowley's case, use their bathtub. Sorry guys he's family.

He eats a lot. Luckily for all, his appetite is reduced from how it is in canon- but he still eats about 2-3 times more than an average person.

Is your first mate! Is probably regularly bogged down by paperwork thanks to it. WHERE IS ALL THIS PAPERWORK COMING FROM? WHAT IS IT EVEN ALL ABOUT? WE JUST DON'T KNOW.

He is the main handler of the budget of the ship. Thankfully, he's very good at it. To help make sure there's enough funds for ship repairs, supplies and upgrades- he asks each crewmate to give a certain amount of money a month to a shared account (exact amount is handwaved - but you can imagine it's a reasonable amount unless they totally blew all their income). He'll work with someone that's short on funds, but refusing or neglecting to pay will get them an all protein diet until they pay up. PULL YOUR WEIGHT FREELOADERS.

Bringing any large debts you've racked up from shenanigans might make him cry.

SS RED FISH

Nux... eats all the things, sleeps in all y'all's beds, and crawls all over everything on the ship. He's been adding decorations to the ship in themes like "skulls," "twisted metal," "creepy animals," etc. He has also been trying to poke around in the engine room and things a lot to try and see if he can tweak the ship. He's been spending a lot of time otherwise on the planet and hanging out with Furiosa on the First Breath!

SS WONDERBALL

Jennifer Keller is the ship's doctor. Her main hangout is the medbay- she even keeps a cot in there in case she's up late doing some medical research- though she can also be found exercising or in the kitchen trying to push her cooking skills into something resembling decent with the protein.

-She suffers from insomnia, and it tends to flare up when she's under stress, so if she can't sleep she works out to try and tire herself out, or sits in the medbay reading whatever books or other material she can get her hands on.
-Jennifer is very good at her job, but she's less good at People, so she can be shy and reclusive when she's not doctoring.
-She is also willing to make housecalls to other ships that lack a medbay if need be.

SS TOURIST

Asteffiel

Asteffiel pretty much lives in the medical bay/science lab. Sometimes he remembers that he has his own bed and probably should sleep there, but he will also just.. sleep on any clear surface in the med bay.


Things to note:
- Asteffiel glows in the dark. That's what the purple spots in his hair are, his glow.
- He's a terrible cook, so unless there's some sort of meal going on that he can get food from, he.. tends to just eat either things he's grown, or straight from the machine stuff.
- He sings children's songs at his potted plants.
- Sorry for anyone's allergies, Asteffiel does give off pollen.

SS HUNTRESS

❀ Elize mainly spends time in her personnel room, doodling pictures on papers and drinking tea from a pretty little tea set that Cullen gifted to her. Sometimes takes naps on the couch. She's shy, but her room is open for anyone to visit. She wants to be friends with everyone on her ship.

Notable objects in her personnel room: Drawings on the wall (by her and Cole), a painting of flowers from Shirley, several potted flowers from Jove, a fish bowl with cute little glowy fishes from Cullen, a princessia flower that Cassandra helped her transplant from a previous planet. Currently, she doesn't know the name of the flower and simply refers it to "Elize's Flower", thanks to Asteffiel.

❀ Cullen and Elize are pretty much a little father-daughter family pair. She can often be found by his side. She'll sometimes hang out in his bunk room and take over his bed by falling asleep on it.

❀ She loves food and eats a lot for a little girl.

❀ She's not very good at it, but she likes to make up tunes/songs. You might hear her humming/singing on the ship.

❀ Jove recently crafted a mage staff for her. In a more open space, she can be found skillfully twirling it like a baton.

❀ Often pays visits to the Pathstone. She recently received invitation to visit the Tourist and Bishop thanks to Axel and Belthazar, so she may occasionally show up on those ships.

SS BISHOP

Cheese is your resident TINY HORSE. And is actually...rarely at the ship, unless he's working on someone's party.

He's a drifter, so when they're planetside, he tends to live outside the ship, travelling a lot and sleeping outside. Also, due to the drifting thing, he doesn't sleep in his own bed very often. It's hard for him to sleep in the same place all the time. So when they're flying, he can sometimes be found curled up in various places around the ship: one of the pilot's chairs, on the kitchen table, etc.

He sings and plays his accordion. A LOT. Yes, he's horrendously annoying.

If you want to know how tall he is compared to your character, Equestrians are pretty much around the same size as a Falabella horse. So tiny.

He's a herbivore so you'll never see him eating meat. Gross. He has some oats and hay and other various horsefeeds from the last planet stored in the cargo bay.

His room is basically full of balloons and streamers. PARTY SUPPLIES.

He ALWAYS has his rubber chicken Boneless Two with him. He often talks to the thing like it can talk back. He also sometimes speaks in a Clint Eastwood esque voice for no apparent reason. (Look, he's kinda batshit, ok)

Souji is pretty new and probably spending most of his time in the kitchen, cooking things and experimenting with ways to make the foodstuffs tastier. He would've introduced himself to shipmates right away and inquired as to what sorts of things they like to eat. Other than that ... YOUR SUGGESTIONS???

Shawn can usually be found either in the engine room or the kitchen. He's enthralled by the drink and food dispensers, and the charm hasn't worn off yet. It might not ever wear off...

He takes a lot of pictures - though he tries to announce it beforehand! The only exception is when he finds a good composition for a candid shot.

On that note, he reviews his photos a lot, especially ones taken with his communicator. Nine times out of ten, that's what he's doing in the kitchen.

A terrible cook, but he knows it, so he'll never offer to cook. He's way more likely to mooch off other people.

A bored Shawn gets up to very elaborate and crazy schemes. You'll want to avoid this Shawn, because he'll go out of his way to entertain himself.

When they're visiting planets, he doesn't stick around the ship (unless it needs repairs). He'll go and work and/or take photos of every place they've been. The photos (and their negatives) are stored in his bedroom. He also has trashy romance novels and really bad poetry collections. The poems he writes are better than what he buys! He's just not aware of it yet.

Sleep is something he prides himself on, and frankly, if he's not in his usual spots, he's out like a log. Good luck waking him up.

Yosuke can be found just about anywhere - he doesn't like sitting still very much, so he'll gladly wander the ship in search of things to do, people to talk to... anything. He'll also visit other ships, or go hang out on the Marsiva or the Iskaulit, especially if he's got someone to hang out with.

► He's a little down in the dumps, currently. So if you catch him unawares, he might actually look pretty sad. He tries to keep that from showing, though. Dumb kid. >:
► He likes games. Card games, board games, video games... if you've got something to do and you want a friend to play with, that's him.
► He also likes music! A lot.
► When in range of planets, he likes to get the hell off the ship as much as he can get away with. He's also prone to picking up ridiculous souvenirs. Or buying dumb things.
► For example, he still has a glowy fish lamp thingy from the beach episode planet. c:

Stefan can regularly be found in the med bay, or if it's meal time - in the kitchen. When he's feeling restless, he'll venture towards the exercise equipment in the cargo hold. Also, since he's running the interfaith center, he'll also regularly drop by that room in the Iskaulit.

• Prays five times a day, without fail or hesitation, usually in the med bay. The prayers last between 5-20 minutes, depending on what's happened that day. On that note, he can often be found muttering prayers. The more stressed he is, the more likely he is to pray - and the less likely it is to be translated.
  
• He doesn't sleep often - if he's in the bunks, it's because he was that bored (or he was talking to Alex about something and fell asleep there).
  
• On that note, he cooks a lot! Partially to blend in, but also partially because he sees the processed protein as a big science experiment. His food's as edible as it's gonna get without a cooking augment.
  
• He drinks tea almost all the time. Seriously. You'll be hard-pressed to find him without a cup of black tea in his hands.
  
• His most prized possession is the replicating tea stash in the kitchen that Alex charmed for him. The quality isn't as good as it could be, but it's black tea. It's enough.
  
• His second-most prized possession are his blood pills; he keeps those along with the other supplies in the med bay. They're labeled as dietary supplements.
  
• His locker in the bunks has various souvenirs from the planets they've visited; he keeps blank notebooks stashed around, in case he has something he wants to write down. (His diary, however, stays with him 24/7.)
  
• First mate of the ship - and thus, the guy usually doing paperwork for everyone!! He may also be in charge of the budget. This means that he will make frowny-faces if he realizes people aren't managing their credits / chips wisely. YOU DON'T WANT YOUR GRANDPA MAKING FACES AT YOU, OK
  
• Trains and spars with Kirito frequently - first aid lessons happen in the med bay, and sparring lessons in the cargo hold! Any crew member or visitor is welcome to join them, though Stefan gets antsy about sparring and will pretend to be a weak puny human if caught by someone not in the know.

SS VANQUISH

Clay is the captain of the SS Vanquish as well as the pilot! Therefore he can usually be found on the bridge chillin' in the pilot's seat, in his room, or in the cargo bay doing some exercises and training he's learned from Orion.

- He often works on star charts, planet charts, maps of the areas they've been to, equations, letters to home, and lots of other things. Obviously he spends some of his credits on paper. Because of this, however, he also ends up falling asleep at wherever he's working, slumped over at a desk or back in his pilot's seat.
- Each month, he gathers the crew around to talk about the credits they've earned and how much they can wisely spend without completely wiping out their savings. He also asks what they'd all like to upgrade the most (I usually have plurks asking the crew about this!), whether through credits or through building something.
- He visits the SS Blue Fish now that he has a boyfriend on that ship! He also visits the Iskaulit for training with Orion, or if he isn't there, then the SS Golden to see if he's there instead. Stefan also stops by to play cards with him and Rogue, so if any other crew member wants to join in, then they're free to do so!
- Since he's the captain, he gets lots of paperwork that also contributes to him falling asleep against wherever, especially without a first mate to help him out with them. Where do they even come from??? NO ONE KNOWS.
- He's very friendly and takes his position as captain very seriously, so he tries to get in touch with his crewmates a lot just to talk about some things. YOU'RE ALL HIS FAMILY NOW EVEN IF YOU JUST ARRIVED OKOK
- He collects things from the planets they visit, all samples of the planet or a souvenir so that he can bring them back to Earth one day to show that there really is life outside of their solar system. They're all not quite organized; his room as well as the pilot's area are quite messy.

SS WINDROSE

Richard Castle is the Windrose's almighty janitor. He thinks being in a space reality show is pretty much the coolest thing ever.

-In his spare time, he likes to tinker and see what his augment does or doesn't allow him to do. He's also quite attached to the cleaning droids. Aww.
-He had to learn how to cook since he was a single dad, so he can actually make a somewhat decent offering from the protein cubes and whatever other scraps the crew gets.
-Castle is a writer by profession, so he has written stories starring thinly-veiled expies of Fleet members. Anything he writes on a computer has poor security, so if anyone was bored enough they could take a peek.

SS HERON

James Barnes (AU) isn't awfully social. He sleeps in his office, wanders around at odd hours, and shows up in the kitchen when he smells food.
