Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player! Applications for new players open April 1st.

"Yeah. Something they call a reality show."

Finn barely manages to conceal his relief at that (which is to say, he doesn't conceal it all from someone using the Force) - but that can be attributed to not having to fly. "Okay, sir. This way, please."

[dorkvader]

"Like Real Housedroids of Coruscant? That show is such trash."

He may have caught an accidental glimpse of it while the boys watched it on break. It wasn't like he regularly watched trashy television... Nah.

"Are you going to need a Dramamine or something? You're really jumpy."

"Uh, never saw that one." It might have something to do with coming from 30-plus years in the future. Then again, Vader could be pulling his leg testing him.

"Didn't expect to see you here, sir. And me without my uniform. Maybe I should get a Dramamine." Finn guides Darth Vader to the closest shuttleport and points out the Marsiva in orbit.

[dorkvader]

"Good. I don't want you throwing up all over the place." He gestures to himself. "This isn't easy to get clean you know."

So, that's the big ship. Not too shabby. A bit too minimalist for his taste (where are all the guns?).

"I shall get us a shuttle." He can be very persuasive.

"I, uh, no sir, I bet it's not." And three guesses on who'd be shanghai'd into cleaning it up. What is his life?

"I'll grab something from the pharmacy." Maybe some kind of anti-anxiety thing rather than a Dramamine, though. This is terrifying.

[dorkvader]

It's not hard for him to 'convince' some random pilot to give up his shuttle to him. His forciness is strong. Heh, he's still proud of that... forciness.

Now to wait for FN-2187. He takes a sip of his latte, it would be a shame if he had to hunt his new lackey down.

When he returns, Finn is significantly calmer, even if it's just from the placebo effect. (It's not; he's also managed to text out a frantic warning to everyone he can think of that might be affected by Vader being in the fleet.)

"Ready, sir?" He'll grab the gunner position, if the ship has one.

[dorkvader]

He goes and sits in the pilots seat. Wow. He's never seen a ship like this. Okay, time to figure this shit out.

"Give the force a minute."

He goes calm as he focuses on the ship, dark power spreading through the shuttle. Soon his hands move and the ship starts up. Is it the force, or a pilot augment... who knows.

Shiiiiit they're both gonna die. There's no way this guy has a pilot augment, is there? They're totally going to die.

"Right."

To his astonishment, the shuttle starts working just fine. Now all they have to do is go to the Marsiva which...doesn't have anywhere to dock at. Woo.

[dorkvader]

The ship starts to rise slowly... then suddenly shudders to a stop, groaning as the metal stresses.

"Oops." He looks around and, seemingly randomly, flips a switch. "Left the parking break on."

With that the ship finally starts to leave. Don't worry FN-2187 you're perfectly safe, he's got this.

"Son of a--"

Yeah, no, they're definitely going to die.

"Watch out for the orbital controls!"

[dorkvader]

"I though you said you're not a pilot?"

Can you sense that Finn? The coldness of a Sith Lord's annoyance. You are annoying Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith, slayer of Jedi.

Sheesh, you make one little mistake and suddenly people start acting all jerky.

"If you want to fly this thing you can." He takes his hands away from the controls... his mug floating serenely as the ship starts to bob and weave without direction.

[forcesensitive]

"No! No, definitely not..not a pilot, it's cool. It's cool. I'll shut up. Sir."

Please take the controls again.

[dorkvader]

"Good." Now that his point is made he'll bring the ship back under control. "Do not taunt the force."

Now that his point is made he can enjoy himself... that was pretty cool, letting the ship start to crash like that.

Cool sure is a word for it, and not one Finn would use.

"No, sir. Didn't mean it that way."

But boy, they sure are passing a little close to some of the other ships.

[dorkvader]

"The force knows. You should probably apologize to the force."

He could get closer to them if you want. Zipping around the other ships is just more fun than going the safe path. Honestly, this is tame compared to how he flies in battle.

Now that is some fun flying.

Is that really how the Force works? Finn, confused, says "I'm sorry, Force.".

He's totally not hanging on for dear life as Vader drives. Nope.

Of course, once they approach the Marsiva, it sure looks like there's nowhere to dock.

[dorkvader]

Maybe? Vader isn't telling. (Hint: no, he's just a dick.)

What kind of idiot designs a ship without a dock?

The only thing like it he's seen was back during the clone wars... that cold fire of hate burns bright with the memory.

"Is this a droid ship?"

Shit, if they can't find anywhere to dock they'll be stuck out here, and he's in a shuttle with Darth Vader. Ugh.

"Uh, not that I know of, sir. We all woke up here when we got here, and people said they've been back. They must have got back on somehow."

[dorkvader]

Good point. Alright, there has to be a way in then. He takes a sip of coffee to relax.

"We can always make our own door." Cutting his way through with his lightsaber was an option. How thick could the hull be?

It would be...something Finn would like to see him try, really. Either he'd figure out a way to get back on the Marsiva (win) or its defenses and space would be enough to put a damper on Vader (win).

"Yes, sir. Shuttle weapons fire with those buttons there." He knows they're not going to be able to penetrate the Marsiva's shields, but it's worth a shot. Right?

[dorkvader]

"Are you sure you're not a pilot?" For not being a pilot Finn has a lot of suggestions. controls are over there Lord Vader, watch out for that ship Lord Vader, please don't crash the ship Lord Vader. Sheesh.

He'll give the blasters a try, though honestly, he doubts they'll be any use.

"Well, 'Mr. I'm no pilot' why don't you check on the docking system. I want a magnetic seal on the hull."

"In a two-seater, I'm a gunner." See? He has a good excuse for knowing these things. He'll stand behind please don't crash the ship, Lord Vader though.

"Yes, sir." The blasters are indeed ineffective against the shields, but he can at least configure the landing gear. Surely Vader can't be thinking of going in with his lightsaber....

Vader is most definitely thinking of going in with his lightsaber... What's the point of having a lightsaber if you don't slice your way through things with it once in a while.

If this is anything like a ship from back home then it will either be able to land with it's door flush to the bulkhead, have an extendable port for that. Or if not, hopefully Finn will be lucky enough that the exit has a force field to keep the atmosphere in.

First though, he has to land.

The point is obviously to defend your unconscious not-girlfriend from some jerk's overconfident grandson, but that's very clearly not in the cards right now. Nope.

He does at least dock in a way that won't cause explosive decompression, still not...entirely sure what Vader's after, here. It just doesn't occur to him to use the honored weapon of the Jedi (and Sith) as a can opener.
