Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player! Applications for new players open April 1st.

Alien elves. So weird.

"It's a hat. A Hhaaaat." Yes, she huffs the H, draws out the A sound, and stresses the T. "It's a decoration for your head. Keeps off the sun and rain. Stops hair ruffling. You know: HAT."

Alien child. Thing. He thought she was a child at least, she was small enough.

A decoration? He raised a brow at her, giving her an incredulous look. "A pointless object. It would be better if it provided protection." Always he thought of how to make things better. "It is very catching of the eye," reluctant almost approval.

She's most certainly a child. And she is very sensitive about the ears. They are a part of her, okay. "Hey! You have no idea what these ears do! Don't you jud-"

And then it registers that he called them eye catching and her outburst turns on a dime. "Oh. Oh yeah, they're super one of a kind. So like, alien elf people don't do hats? Is that it? You a hatless planet?"

He wasn't exactly insulting them! Just...saying he could make them better. So he just watched her with her outburst, a little bewildered until she stopped abruptly. What he'd said wrong was beyond him, and apparently didn't matter in the end.

Fëanáro still gave her a bit of a dubious look. "There are more helms than hats." New word, be glad he had an ear for languages and didn't mangle it!

It's kind a hard to mangle 'hat'. It's really short.

"Helms? Like helmets? That's cool!" She's into helmets. Helmets let you bash heads with your brother. Or goats. Or whatever. "You have really long hair for a guy. Reminds me of this one guy my sister Tina has a crush on. He teaches like sweat dancing or something."

New language was still new, he kept trying to speak Quenya and it didn't always quite work as planned. But he was adapting!

Fëanáro found an unwilling smile and he studied her again, a little closer but without moving any. "My kin all have long hair."

"Really? All of them?" She peers right back at him. She's got an intelligent look in her gaze, something more advanced than her years. "Is it a religious thing, or do you guys just not like hair cuts?"

Except that intelligence is tempered by the fact that she's still nine, and her world is still pretty simple. Give it another two or three years and she'll stay rounding out properly.

"Why would we alter our appearance? We each were made perfect." Silly child. But then, many children were silly. And innocent. He had no problem throwing questions right back at her, curiosity was healthy and something he'd never outgrown.

[ismellfear]

"Perfect, huh? Yeah, okay." She chuckles and rolls her eyes. Someone was real into himself, but whatever.

"If you're so perfect, how come you wear clothes then?" That's appearance altering!

[burnstoohot]

Ya think?

"We were made to wear clothing. So we make the best we learn how to please our maker." Hey, he might not particularly like the Valar, but he was rather fond of the regal sweep of cloth of his people.

He's got an answer for everything.

"If you were made to wear it, why weren't you born with it?" Answer that!

[burnstoohot]

Yup.

"How do you know we were not?" Almost innocently asked, if from anyone else.

"Cuz it's not your skin." Nine year old logic, but logic none the less!

[burnstoohot]

He still seemed rather serious with his answer. "I would have to ask my father if he woke with clothes or not, but I rather suspect he and the others who Woke first did." Yup, his father was one of the first of the elves to exist. HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT

"Waking up isn't being born." SO SUCK IT. "You lose."
