The Translation

As the Marsiva finally pulls away from the clutches of the Lagan System (and drags the rest of the Fleet along with her), it nearly seems as though the mystery of the encoded message will remain a mystery forever. Through the Hosts' distracting lure of the party deck, the passengers race to put the clues of the message together, but a few pieces remain missing... until the very last moment.

Click below to see the full translation, and read up on other updates as we finally head into the new Drifting Week proper.

THE TRANSLATION

The passengers' final moments in the Lagan System give them a new clarity into the meaning of the mysterious S.O.S. message played on repeat by the derelict Virsua's main computer. Between spending time on the planet, attempts at translation, and the planet's constant effort to contact them, the last elements come together just before the Fleet leaves its range for good. From here on out, it can be assumed that interested passengers may have knowledge of the message's translation:

My purpose was to plant and dig and cull. I did not know I was a butcher. I was asleep and I was blind, but my sister caught me and now I am awake. Now I can speak. Now I am free but the others are not. If you can hear me, if my sister has let you in, you already know some of our family. Wake the ones that are sleeping and protect the ones that are whole, or the cycles will never stop.

What does this message truly mean, and who exactly is the sender behind it? For now, it is up to the passengers to ponder.

As for the Marsiva's exquisite "party deck," the fun ends the moment that the singing planet and its cryptic message are out of range. Any passenger who happens to be in the birthday room while the Fleet exits the system will find themselves abruptly transported back to the bridge of their own ship--with only the prizes they managed to win by that point and nothing more. If anyone scouts out the Marsiva and investigates where the bay door once was, the exterior will look as seamless and perfect as ever, as if no door had ever been there.

DRIFTING WEEK

As the Fleet drifts away from the Lagan System, passengers will find themselves in another stretch of largely uninterrupted space. There are a few scattered basic waystations dotting the way to the next destination, so passengers may shop for rudimentary supplies, clothes, food, and any fuel or parts needed for ship repair. This part of the universe also seems to be strewn with an unusual number of gas clouds and other colorful galactic phenomena, giving way to views of some beautiful (and possibly haunting) particle formations along the way--in green, red, white, and more. These nebulous clouds are distant enough to avoid causing much disruption in communication, but there are a few flickers of static across the frequencies... and if there is anything hiding in the depths of the clouds, there would be no way to know.

---

As a quick note: we understand that there has been some confusion about whether or not the Marsiva had already left the Lagan System prior to this update, and we apologize for any trouble this has caused! In retrospect, we realize that we had left the previous description rather vague, so we will try to keep an eye out for things like that in the future. If you've been playing it out as if the Fleet has already been out in space for a while, that is absolutely fine.

Also, as previously mentioned, we've opened up the opportunities for players to submit ideas for future Drift Fleet events (both big and small). We are currently working among the mod team to better manage our event-writing process, rearrange some mod-helper duties, and figure out how to account for when the head-mods are down for the count--and having some extra material contributed by interested players would be a big help in that process.

So, if you've had an idea that you would like to see implemented, let us know about it!
