[Mogget leans in, stretching his head upwards, lengthening his neck.]

Undo my collar.

[His voice is a whisper, intimate and suggesting.]

[ Kubo just gives him a look. ]

Isn't that a bad idea?

No.

[Not to Mogget, it isn't.]

I can show you what a Shining One looks like. I'm the only one left.

And what happens after that?

[Foresight. Thy name is not Mogget. He's driven just by a single desire to get free.]

My story started thousands of years ago, I just need help continuing it how I want! I want to make decisions! I want to decide for myself!

[Mogget's fur is standing on end.]

And I can't until the damn collar is off! I can't think beyond getting it off, I can't.

[shamisens]

[ Kubo watches quietly. ]

Fine.

[catonthefence]

[Mogget's breath catches his his throat and then he stretches his neck out again, inviting fingers to undo the silver catch but first-

He arches and spits out a silver ring with a single, blood red ruby in it. He noses it to Kubo.]

I have to give you this if you intend to undo my collar. Condition of the enslavement.

[shamisens]

[ He picks it up. ]

How does it work?

[The red was the same as the collar around his neck.]

[He stretches up, closer to Kubo's hand.]

[shamisens]

[ He has a feeling he's going to regret this, so he places his shamisen on his lap. Kubo's magic is fairly strong. With careful fingers, he undoes the latch. ]

[catonthefence]

[And the latch refuses to come undone.

Without the spark of Charter magic bound into every person in the Old Kingdom, it doesn't recognise Kubo or his intent and refuses to budge.]

[shamisens]

Well. That didn't work.

[catonthefence]

Nooooo....

[Mogget's voice is a soft whine, but it's heartfelt. Heartbroken.

He claws at the collar, making Ranna ring out loud and then he sways, yawning and curling up into a bundle of white fluff and falls asleep.]
