Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!

OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.

OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.

Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

[At first, she doesn't heed the name, not until it's repeated. Then she looks up from where she's sitting to look towards him, curious. He was a Man, that much she could tell, even having never met any of them before. There's simply something so different but familiar about them. And about him.]

[ In the future (in the past), they'll meet like this in the first days of spring, and Luthien (like a sensible girl) will run from the ragged wild stranger who calls her, only to meet him again, later.

But this is a different garden, and a different Beren. There's streaks of grey in his hair, and laugh lines around his eyes, and so, so much love in them. Not the adoration of one struck, but the love that takes a lifetime to build.

Also, he doesn't look like a ragged vagabond. There's that. ]

Luthien? [ He blinks at her confusedly ] Of course I mean you, beloved.

[She brushes at her hair, getting a better look at him. He's certainly handsome, a very different kind of handsome from elves. She doesn't say as much though, what good would it do with an Elf and a Man?]

Never have any called me Tinuviel before. I do not think I have ever seen you before, here or in Doriath.

[ He looks hurt, for a moment, brokenhearted and confused ]

What do yo mean, ... Luthien it was the first thing I ever said to you...

[ He breaks off and looks at her, eyes widening and then he shakes his head ]

Ah... you are... so young. Maybe... Princess, forgive me, but what is the last thing you remember?

[It pains her a bit, to see him so hurt, but there isn't anything she can do.]

Daeron and I were in the forest, as we are often wont to do. He would play and I would dance, the nightingales were singing with me.

[ he sighs ]

So long ago...then you...as strange as it sounds...are from my past.

[She just frowns.]

None have sway over time, not even the Valar. Else Morgoth would not have caused such trouble as he has.

While I would normally agree...Princess, I have dwelt now with thee in bliss for many a long year. But you look at me with the eyes of a stranger.

Lúthien will do. [It felt... wrong, having him call her 'princess.' Especially here. And with the implication that they are someday involved.]

Any who do not dwell in Doriath are as strangers to me. And none pass through my mothers girdle that she does not permit.

One will. [ Beren smiles a little sadly ]

Although I would not recommend the route I took.

[She curious. Visibly so. In fact, she even pats the ground beside her in invitation. He's very interesting.]

[ He smiles at her curiosity and shakes his head, in amusement ]

[ He says fondly, and does come over, although he sits a properly polite distance away, and the smile falters and he looks away briefly ]

Through Nan Dungortheb. [ He says softly ] And not even for you will I willingly recall that time. But through your mother's protections I did come, and I saw you dancing there, in the first days of spring, even as you were now.

[She has to give it some thought, translating the name, but eventually-]

[She doesn't press.]

My mothers girdle gave you peace and protection as well then.

Aye. And very much so. It took me a while before I could trust that I was safe again - but it was only when I saw you dancing that I truly believed that I had escaped.

[She only has stories about anything beyond Doriath's borders. And it looks like she won't get much more for some time.]

I am glad my dancing has done some good then.

[ She can ask for other stories! Just not that one ]
