Summer Test Drive! (Calibrations edition!)

THE SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
(Or Winter Test Drive for you Southern Hemisphere folks!)
Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!
Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!
FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!
SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!
OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.
OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.
Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.
Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

I can't say positively who, but I might have an idea.
[ He looked back to her. ]
I can help you find out, if you want. Just demanding it from them probably won't work - they'll close ranks for each other.
no subject
Why are you offering to help me?
no subject
Because if what you're saying is true, I'm not the sort that can just sit by and let that go.
[ He rubbed the back of his head. ]
We don't get to spend long on these worlds. We never do. But I've always thought that when we come to these places we should strive to either do no harm, or to try and leave it a little better than we found it, if we can.
no subject
[She looks over the crowd again. She is confident. She's still not sure what she's going to do... but she'll find a way that doesn't involve dragging him into this.]
no subject
[ He arched a brow at her. ]
You can't actually stop me from helping you, you know. Or are you the type who likes doing things the hard way?
[ Shut up Kirk, like you're one to talk. ]
no subject
[She could. And it's tempting. He's a stranger with a familiar face, and she doesn't know that she wants to let him put himself in harms way for her.
But that does not mean he's without a point.]
But I will not.
no subject
Scarier people than you have tried, miss.
[ When Jim Kirk wanted to do something, it took a lot more than the power of a god to stop him. Though he usually had the support of his crew behind him, but still. ]
Right, let's get you a beer so you blend in a bit and then I'll go butter up those guys and see if I can't get anything. You'll probably have better luck charming the bar tender than me too. And bar tenders always know something.
[ Already has a plan, a thought. He's committed already but any good mission needs intel. He naturally falls into that command mode, the captain mode. ]
no subject
[She balks at letting him take control like this.]
I won't stop you from helping me, but I do not have to do what you say.
no subject
You don't have to drink the beer, it just lets you blend in.
[ He considered her again, the way she carried herself. Definitely someone who knew how to fight. May or may not have higher than average human strength - he'd learned not to assume those things. ]
I'm just trying to help you get as much information as possible - accurate information. Threatening these guys isn't likely to get you want you want.
And I did already try to charm the gentleman, but I'm not his type unfortunately.
[ He shrugged. ]
I'll start working on the pool guys all the same.
[ He saluted with his beer and made for the group at the pool tables with an affected look of disgruntlement, as if Diana has just turned him down. ]
no subject
But then he's walking away. She watches him go for a moment.
And for that moment, she does consider doing what he said.
She really does.
But then she considers that he seems to know who to talk to to get some answers about this, and that he has not listened to her any better than she has to him, and she thinks better of it, stalking after him.]
I was not done talking to you.
no subject
[ Well then. He pauses and looks back to her, the men behind him rumbling and chuckling, but otherwise seeming more amused than on edge, balls cracking as a new game was started. ]
Let's take a seat then. Bit less conspicuous.
[ He nodded a nearby open table, taking a sip of his beer before angling for it. ]
no subject
[She does come with him this time, though. This would be much easier her way.]
no subject
I said I had an idea, but I'm not sure. Even if I did - how do you plan to make them tell you anything?
[ He cocks his head at her, not unbelieving of the fact she might be able to, just not sure how she planned to do it beyond batting her eyes or throwing them against a wall. Neither of which felt productive. ]
no subject
[Her response is a huff. She glances back and forth again, not at all subtle as she looks to see if they're being watched.
Then she pulls a loop of lasso out from under her cloak.]
This reveals the truth.
no subject
[ He glances quickly down at the lasso and back at her, his brow srunched up slightly, perhaps looking darker than it was in the dim of the bar. ]
As in it... what? Forces people to tell you the truth?
no subject
Yes, it does. We can trust whatever they say while under its influence.
[She notices his frown, but doesn't understand it. Isn't this better? Diana trusts it.]
no subject
I suggest we try being more subtle first. A lasso isn't subtle.
[ That wasn't his real problem with it, but a moral discussion wasn't worth the effort right now. ]
no subject
You do not like it?
