THE SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
(Or Winter Test Drive for you Southern Hemisphere folks!)

Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!

OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.

OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.

Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

[ She was new to the surface world herself, and had a lot of time to get used to their inventions. Even then this Fleet took her by surprise. ]

[The response gets a glance from Diana, but she's distracted almost immediately when the image on screen blips and is replaced by another. She watches it briefly, then looks back Nish.]

[She manages to say it both with pride, and a certain absent acceptance, as she leans a little closer to the screen.]

It is amazing. I've never seen such a thing.

An Amazon?

[ No wonder she smelled like magic, and not quite human. ]

I haven't seen one of you in centuries. Where have you been?

You know us? You are the first human I've met who had, who did not believe we were a story.

[immerges]

[ Don't they all become stories? But Nish guesses if the Amazons haven't been around for a while, they don't know anything about what the world has become. ]

Of course I do. I'm — oh, the Greeks had this charming word for it — a Siren?

The sirens were women of the air. Their songs were said to be irresistible to men.

[immerges]

That's the one they had. I haven't done it in a while, think I'm getting rusty?

[ She smiles in a way that bares teeth — she's not rusty. ]

You do not strike me as someone who loses their touch.

[Diana doesn't appear threatened by that, but curious? That she is. The compliment sounds sincere.]

[immerges]

[ Oh, good girl. Nish's smile softens at her. ]

That's very kind of you, my dear. I've been in the world a long time — they don't take well to that kind of behaviour. [ she shrugs ] But there's more than one way to peel a banana.

[amazonfresh]

To peel a what? How many ways are there?

[Nish may have lost her a little at that. Diana is well read, but Pliny didn't mention bananas.]

Oh, it's not important — we can fill the gaps in your education.

[ Nobody asked, and yet she's here linking her arm with Diana's. ]

Come now, there's a whole station to explore. We can start with the fruit market.

Why do you do that?

[She doesn't protest, though, accepting this as a custom here.]

You're not worried you'll lose me in the crowd?

[immerges]

This? [ She looks down at their linked arms. ] Because you and I are going to be friends.

And don't be silly. You can handle yourself, and besides, I'm quicker than I look.

[amazonfresh]

Are we to be? [A smile, more surprised than skeptical. She hasn't found people always so quick to make friends.]

As your friend, I would not doubt your abilities.

[immerges]

I'd rather make friends than enemies.

[ She's lived a long, long time. Grudges fade, arguments cease to matter. And despite every attempt otherwise, she's become fond of the world she's in. ]

Lead the way. I am eager to learn what this banana is. [Only half joking. there's been more new experiences in the fleet than she can count, and still she finds herself interested in more.]
