THE SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
(Or Winter Test Drive for you Southern Hemisphere folks!)

Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!

OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.

OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.

Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

Yeah I mean if I'm gonna be forced to tag along with that mothership, might as well get something out of it, right? Also think of how many worlds there's gonna be, it'll be great.

[He says, after pissing off a small portion of the native population already. Which yeah, he's rubbing at the bruise a bit.]

[He frowns a little and reaches to touch that bruise, gently.] I think I got somethin' for that back on the Bishop if ya want it.

[After a moment, peering to get a good look at him:] You look ...[Old.] different than I remember. Has it been that long?

[Hamilton's face falls, so John doesn't remember.]

Yeah it's kinda been... nearly two decades. Okay considering what went on I think it's been exactly two decades.

[unbridles]

[No, sorry Ham. He does look slightly more concerned about the look on Ham's face, though.]

Twenty years and a lotta shit, like our system has parties now, and sometimes you get pulled into other worlds. But that last part's mainly happened to me and a few other guys I know.

[He just leans back onto a wall, the light showing a hint of clothes that have been repaired more than a few times.]

Well, me too now. [With a gesture around them.] An' you can come from different times, looks like.

Yeah that's happened way more than I like, but at least this place ain't that bad.

[he gets to start fights and everything. Plus some of those jackets? He wants 'em.]

Yeah. Could be a lot worse. And hey, at least I got you now. [With a warm smile.]

[He jerks his thumb at some dingy little alleyway, the faint traces of lurid violet light shining on the walls]

So what'dia say? Wanna see if we can get 'em to revolt faster than the last gang?

[He laughs.]

Just the normal points: they deserve better, the government isn't treating them right...

[He makes a frustrated gesture with one hand]

I actually don't have shit to go on, there's not even much of a government for me to get 'em to blame. Like there's something, but damn if a guy like me can get people to talk about it. I'm going off anything I can get when a news channel comes on.

Yeah, I ain't been on the planet long enough to get much of anything, either. We can sure as hell try, though. [Not entirely true. He's visited a couple asteroids, but got more wrapped up in talking to fellow crew members about art rather than politics.]

I sure hope so, I think I might owe the last place about a hundred. Someone mighta gotten thrown into a table and broke it.

[this sheepish grin is the look of a man who is 100% or either the thrower or... the throwee, don't look at him like that.]
