Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!

OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.

OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.

Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

[This is clearly a guy who could probably use a break right now. He's had a hard and difficult night and could use some normalcy to his evening. He's not gonna get that, though. Nope. There's a metallic clunk as a candelabra lands somewhere near his feet, looking up. ]

No you know what? he can handle this. He could handle everything on the island, and he can handle the fact that he's in space. This dude's probably one of those Ai things or a robot or who knows what else. ...Or Hamilton is some form of punch-drunk. Either way, he can have a perfectly normal conversation with this perfectly normal french-sounding piece of furniture.]

[Wait, monsieur? That's either a linguistic twin or french somehow managed to travel this far out? Only one way to check so- switching into the old tongue it is.]

Still, he cheers up considerably at the French. He sure does love being able to talk his own lounge here. ]

But of course! That IS where I am from, after all, France.

[ well, the little chip in his head at least lets him know what a robot is, but at this point he'd probably believe in something like curses. At the point when you're on a ship in the middle of space, previous ideas of "normal" start to go out the window. ...Or okay, France could have made robots, what does he know.

But he brightens right up at that as well. Hell yes, someone from his world.]

[He lets out a little huff of air and looks sideways at a nearby sign. yep that's a good sign, all lit up in the darkness and not yanno, looking at a guy who might be on the cusp of an oncoming revolution. Hoo boy.]

I mean the whole situation's... Hold up, you're not normally some kinda-

[Because if the guy wasn't a from the ship and was from his world, "candelabra man from some other reality" was pretty much the closest logic he was arriving at. And even then he was pretty sure it didn't hold water.

-Actually what is your deal?

[Lumière has become used to the "candelabra man from some other reality" scenario. It is both comforting and slightly worrying it is the first port people reach. ]

My...deal? You mean why I am a candelabra? I have been cursed into this shape, I was once as human as you are.

That's a weirdly specific curse. Like who'd you piss off, an obsessed candlemaker?

I did not do anything. The curse was aimed at the prince I serve. He was...less than polite to someone with great power. She cursed him, and by extension, us of his household. We staff all became various objects.

...Okay, but I gotta know, did they deserve it? Like how much of a dick were they being with the guy?

He was eleven, just a child. So not enough to warrant such a curse.

[He'll forever fog over the details of WHY he was cursed, but he still believes this absolutely.]

So lemme get this straight... she curses a kid and then throws the rest of you guys on the fire for no good reason.

[The french slips into something far less mainland and more... unfamiliar to anyone who hasn't lived on the islands. However that bit of venom conveys enough meaning on it's own]

You will have no arguments from me there. The youngest of us she cursed was six years old. He is currently a tea cup. There was no need for such cruelty towards the children.
