Summer Test Drive! (Calibrations edition!)

THE SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
(Or Winter Test Drive for you Southern Hemisphere folks!)
Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!
Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!
FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!
SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!
OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.
OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.
Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.
Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

[she hasn't actually agreed yet, but she didn't tell him to get lost or keep on walking either.]
I think he said they're like twenty-something chips? Which, I'm still working on the whole conversion thing. I know it's probably a lot. [peter's starting to lose hope, but then he comes up with an idea.] We can split 'em? And I'll still pay you back everything.

she smiles. friendly enough. ]
Don't worry about it. [ a wave of her hand. ] You're from the fleet, right? I'll give you about, oh, two months before I come looking for your kneecaps.

[not that peter's even dealt with them beyond the one time that he webbed some up with things were about to turn violent. but he's pretty sure that she's joking too. hopefully. he offers them out to her.]
You're sure you don't want any? They smell really good. I bet they even used truffle oil. My aunt's always talking about that stuff.

[ oh, her smile grows. kate does lean in, now, and steal a fry. it's hot and it hurts her tongue but she doesn't care; there's a comfort in good street food. a bigger comfort, still, in realizing she'd been right to recognize something in his voice.
she hikes a thumb at herself. ] Manhattan. I'll bet our loan sharks are cousins with your loan sharks.

[world, universe, whatever. it's a coincidence that defies all odds, but peter can't help but be happy about it.]
How long have you been a part of the fleet?
no subject
[ her grin stays crooked. ]

but he's not the only one. really, can anyone afford to be away from home for a whole year?]
I don't understand, how can it feel too short? Aren't you homesick?

So you get kidnapped a lot?
no subject
instead, kate crinkles her nose. ]
Kidnapped? Nah. [ ... ] But this isn't my first interdimensional rodeo.
no subject
[peter's relieved to hear that she doesn't actually get kidnapped from every street that she tries to cross. but what really meant is still a surprise.]
Whoa... I barely make it out of my neighborhood. It's a really nice neighborhood, the people are great, they make great sandwiches. [and occasionally people try to make trouble, with peter not there to do anything about it.] Hey, if you've got any pointers, I'm all ears.

But that's the way the boroughs are, you know? Everything is right there; leaving isn't always necessary. [ says the card-carrying avenger. well. almost-avenger.
practically an avenger. ]
Kate Bishop's protip the first: protect your fries, buddy. Who knows who might be lurking around the corners looking to take one.
[ -- and she'll try and steal another. ]
no subject
[don't mind him, just having his first wave of homesickness, clear in his voice, distracting him enough that fry theft is easy. but kate's advice does earn a little chuckle before he brings his arm up defensively. he has quick reflexes.]
Peter Parker will remember that. Peter being me.
[that sounded cooler in his head.]

[ hold the futzing phone. kate figures it's gotta be a coincidence. there's no way the ceo and president of parker industries is standing in front of her after having bummed credits for a meal.
(except he's, like, fifteen or something and clearly this can't be the same dude but...peter parker. the dude's got spider-man for his head of security. how cool is that? ]
You're Peter Parker. From Queens. Holy shit.
