THE SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
(Or Winter Test Drive for you Southern Hemisphere folks!)

Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!

OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.

OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.

Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

[Shiro can't help it, he chuckles. But it's not from a mean place! The boy is obviously awkward, but judging by his rambling, also respectful and honest. Those are things he likes in a person.]

Friends that have't met yet - that has a nice ring to it. You're right, we fleeters have to stick together [He shakes Peter's hand with his metal one, because that's his right one and old habits die hard. But he's careful about it.] Hey, Peter. I'm Shiro. No need to call me "sir".

[peter smiles up at him, but it isn't long before he notices something different about the man's grip. he looks down, turning their hands to take a better look.]

[Ah, of course he asks about the arm, he should've expected that. He can't blame the kid, it's not like he knows, and besides... It's innocent curiosity (always a good thing) and him sounding impressed makes Shiro less awkward about it. This isn't his universe, positive reactions to his arm are actually a thing! Go figure.]

Yes, it is. I'm not new to space and-- alien technology. [It is added after a second of hesitation.] I didn't hurt you, did I?

[peter's eyes widen at the mention of alien technology. still, it's definitely a positive reaction, despite the aliens and technology that kinda tried to smash new york just a few years ago. can't let one bad banana ruin the bunch, right?

his expression falters a little at shiro's question though. maybe it should've hurt, or would've hurt this time last year. he withdraws his hand, shaking his head quickly.]

Nah, I'm tougher than I look. I drink lots of milk, strong bones. [he gives him a lopsided grin.] I'd love to hear more about space though. I've always been into that sort of thing. And now. [he takes a deep breath before gesturing.] Here I am.

funny random fact: Shiro's VA has voiced Spider-man in a cartoon :')

[There definitely are both good and bad aliens out there. The bad ones gave Shiro his arm, and of course Peter doesn't know that, but-- still. The fact the boy is curious about it and not disgusted is more than appreciated.

The grin is answered with a smile. That milk comment... this is a sweet kid.] You're a good guy. Come on, let's take a walk. [He gives Peter a gentle nudge.] I'll show you around and tell you about space. Are you from Earth?
