THE SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
(Or Winter Test Drive for you Southern Hemisphere folks!)

Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!

OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.

OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.

Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

Right, the different worlds thing - it's pretty confusing, right? You talk to someone, everything sounds completely the same, and then you find out they don't know what twitter is and bam, different universe.

...so inter-dimensional travel is a thing where you're from? How's it work when it's not being run by evil space lords?

[ there's interest there because it's cool, and interest because maybe it'll help get them out of here. all the awesome astronaut stories in the world won't do him any good if he can't get back and tell cassie all about them. ]

Well, I have a friend who can go fast. Like, really fast. So fast he accidentally crossed over into my world and got stuck for a bit.

This is the part where I explain that metahumans are people who have enhanced powers, like running fast, or controlling lightning... Sometimes opening portals to other worlds...

[ and a useful skill to have, damn. maybe he could cross the dimensional barriers in the quantum realm, but that's not a risk he's willing to take even if he could, not yet anyway, it's not that desperate. he doesn't remember anything from there, he's pretty sure he wouldn't be able to navigate it successfully. ]

I know about enhanced superpowered people - we don't call them metahumans but, I'm from Earth Avengers and wow you have no idea how weird it is to ask if you've heard of them -

I only know of them from what I've learned here, from them.

Steve and Natasha's, [ there's an air of giddiness to his voice when he says those names, it's so surreal to be talking about captain america and black widow so casually.

it feels kinda wrong almost. he still wants to say cap and widow, at least. ] yup. What're your Avengers called?

[ cuz if there are superpowers of course there are superheroes, right, it goes without saying! ]

We don't have any formalized group. But there's Supergirl, and her cousin Superman.

Sounds super - [ he's ant-man, he has no say in names, ever. ] what do they do?

Well, they fly, have super strength, heat vision, freeze breath, super speed, telescopic vision, x-ray vision...

It's kind of a grab bag.

...damn. They're a whole team packed into one.

[ as someone who now specializes in compactness, he's pretty damn impressed. ]

That's so cool.

Yeah, well, they still have their support teams to help out. But that's the impression I get— other places have more specialized heroes.

[anticker]

[ he nods ]

Gotta have your support team. [ heroing is a team effort, even when you're a solo act in the wear-a-suit-and-duke-it-out sense. which, even that he's not. a moment of silence, please, for ant-thony's sacrifice. ]

So, you're an Avenger? Did I hear that right?

[anticker]

Me? [ a chuckle; part nervous, part flattered, part wistful, it's a really multi-faceted sort of chuckle. ] No, no. But that would be awesome.

[ maybe someday, right! he did do the world-saving thing! though, counterpoint, stark. ]

No? Well, they seem like they do great things in your world.

[anticker]

Yeah, pretty great.

[ well, ultron was less great, but that's stark for you. ]

Saving the world, millions of lives, that kinda stuff. [ they do exactly what he always wanted to do; make a difference. ]

So, if you're not an Avenger, what do you do?

[anticker]

Iiii'm an electrical engineer.

[ sorry, he doesn't know you yet either, you know how it goes. revealing himself to an avenger is one thing, saying 'I'm ant-man' to a complete stranger, suit-free, is a little much. ] You?

I'm a reporter, actually.

Electrical engineer sounds fascinating. My sister is a bio-engineer. I know they're like, totally different things, but I'm just saying, I would not be cut out for the sciencey stuff.
