Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

SPECIAL NOTE!
Since June is a special month in which we'll be breaking from the usual plot to bring back the calibrations plot, the Test Drive prompts will come in two flavors!

OPTION A: Standard Test Drive
Go ahead and treat the test drive as you normally would, using past plots or fleet locations as your setting! Here's some helpful info for some ideas.

OPTION B: Build-a-Calibration
If you'd like, you can use the info given about the Calibrations plot to design your own calibration room for any characters you want! Got a character you want to explore their inner psyche but isn't in the game yet? Go ahead and try it out! It can be a fully fleshed out room, or simply just a small part of it you'd like to play with.

Alternatively for any characters that are in the game, you can use this as a chance to either iron out, brainstorm, or test run any components of your calibration before the actual plot starts! We don't recommend posting the entirety of your calibration in this meme (as you'll have nothing new to post come plot time), but this can be a good chance to test out any parts to make sure they work how you desire.

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in September!

[Literally said it just seconds ago.]

Right. [She echoes him. It'd be easy to find a reason to leave then, make an excuse to beg out of the drink, but there's reasons not to. So she tips her head in the direction of a bar, prompting him to join her.] So I take it you just showed up in the fleet?

he does just that - join her, that is - and nods at her question. ]

Yup, one minute I'm home next minute on a giant spaceship, fast forward a little more than a day and I'm chased by the law [ sounds about right, if he's honest. ] and saved by an Avenger. Interesting weekend.

Not sure I'd say saved by an Avenger. Not turned over by an Avenger. I didn't do anything. [She shrugs, slanting him a look that might be curious or might just be considering.] Could be you got away because I couldn't be bothered to get mixed up with the police around here either.

You have a true gift for embellishment, anyone ever tell you?

[ and now he's just imagining her and luis in the same room. oh...that looks painful (his inner mind theater may have taken a turn to the violent). ]

Not in so many words. [She glances over at him—up at him, since for all her imposing personality, Natasha Romanoff is not an especially tall woman. A fact that doesn't keep her from catching his odd expression.]

What's that look for? I'm not turning you over now.

[ imposing personalities he's used to. that doesn't mean he doesn't find her intimidating, wouldn't find it terrifying if he ended up on her bad side - he absolutely would be shitting himself! - but he's not rattled by the default state. his lips curve downwards and he lightly shakes his head. ]

Just thinking I have a friend you should never meet.

You have a real way with flattery.

[She opens the door to the bar for him, indicating with a nod of her head for him to go before her while she glances back at the street, checking their back out of habit more than suspicion.]

[ scott, scott. she's an avenger, mind the attitude. he smiles at her when she opens the door for him, a smile that's genuine and warm, without a hint of mockery. he knows what that sounded like but honestly luis is an acquired taste. he's happy to have acquired it, it's a taste that makes his life better like...95% of the time, but it's not for everyone. they'd make an extremely entertaining sitcom duo, though.

he walks into the bar without a glance in or out, just head first in he goes. caution, caution...sorry he's blanking, what's that, again? ]

Bar, booth, table? To-go cup?

Let's go with the booth. More private.

[And at least hypothetically, less likely to get them in trouble. Who knows how that will go in practice.]

We can catch up.

[ he's looking around, but his eyes return to her face when she says catch up. that's right. cuz the avengers know him. and not just because he said 'hi I'm scott' like a minute ago. it's difficult to wrap his head around, especially since he doesn't even really know how that happened but...it's cool! he'll take it. ]

Catch up sounds good, [ he heads for that booth and slides in ] it's an exciting time to be alive, a lot of things happening.

More things every day. [She wasn't going to push him on that particular detail. Especially because, among other things, there is no way for her to be sure he's from their exact world, or their time.] Here and at home.

I figure you've got the run down. Kidnapping, reality TV, different worlds...?

[ there's not much he could give her, but he'd give it with very minor pushing, anyway. ]

Check, check, check - [ he nods along as she lists items. ] and don't mess with the regulator, [ he points to the back of his head, where the augment is located ] right?

[ he's got this. messing with something that could kill him/drive him nuts/trap him in eternal torture dimension? that doesn't even sound like something he'd do, please, he's a professional! ]

So, what's the plan?

Augment, but yeah. At least for the time being, because believe me, in the long run I'd love to find someone who'd be willing to mess with the augment. [Since most of their tech contacts have left the fleet, Natasha isn't sure who that person will be, but she's willing to put it on the table as a future plan.] But interfering with them tends to cause glitches.

You heard about those too?

[Because she'd be happy not to have to explain them. Even if not explaining them means she's one step closer to admitting there's no plan.]

[ he's a tech guy who's willing to take on crazy chances and experiment on himself so, she might be talking to that person. ]

Vaguely - they can be physical or mental changes, happen at any time but for a limited time? I heard messing with the augment was a little more high stakes - if that's a myth, let's crack this baby open.

[ limited-time consequences, are you kidding him? he went sub-atomic without knowing there's a way back. this is nothing. ]

[Natasha snorts, raising an eyebrow, as if to say, pump the brakes.

But don't rule it out entirely.]

Messing with the augment can also be very, very painful. Just as a note. But that's about right. Sometimes people get younger, or end up with weird things happening around them. But there's been more than one time that glitches have turned violent.

Strong argument to be made for caution.

[ he doesn't like pain because, well, of course he doesn't - but it's not enough of a deterrent from doing something that could get him home to cassie. ]

I dunno about you but the whole space-reality-show thing? Already counts as pretty weird in my book - [ and the fountain of youth dropping in his lap doesn't exactly sound scary either (let's be real, would there even be a difference?)

there is however a grimace at the mention of violence. he is not a fan. ]

You may have me on that last one. [ he needs more information on what exactly she means by that and to come up with a way around it. ]

[That story isn't Natasha's to tell. She wasn't on the fleet for it herself, and it reveals more about Barnes and Agent Carter than she's inclined to volunteer on either of their behalf.

But she still gives the warning.]

It's a good reason to be careful. But eventually we'll have to risk it.

When that time comes, it's better to know exactly what we're getting ourselves into.
