Johnny Rayflo | Vassalord (CRAU)
He'd make the best of it, what else could he do? 'Move on' was the best ability he had.]
The market
[The markets were just as colorful and vibrant as the city itself and the vampire quickly found himself being swept away in the whole scene. He carried on amicable conversations with the vendors he stopped at and anything that reminded him of the people lost to him was instantly bought.
A bobble like that caught his eye and had him stopping, but he couldn't quite reach the thing well enough to see it up close. He tapped the person on the shoulder between him and it and flashed them a cool and charming smile.]
If you don't mind, my dear, could you hand that to me?
Stargazing
[Of course, nighttime was easier. Not as many layers, not as much dodging from shadow to shadow or having to receive strange looks for carrying a parasol or the like in hardly-glaring sunlight. At least he'd developed an easy knack for not dying from exposure in Hinato-Ri.
But now it was dark and cool and he walked with grace and confidence as though the night belonged solely to him. He watched how the sights and sounds and energies of the city changed as the time did and reveled in the nightlife the city had to offer.
While he'd had plenty to do in the day in Hinato-Ri, it was still the night that saw most of his activities. This place wasn't Earth or Vatheon or that spiritual city he'd left, but it was familiar and comforting.
He walked until his feet found the edge of the city and a large field full of others staring up at oblivion. It only took a moment of hesitation before Johnny was also stretched out under the stars. His eyes scanned the pinpoints of light, a small part of him hoping to find something that looked familiar. Anything at all.
But he wouldn't be holding his breath.]
The bar: behind and in front of the counter
[But years now of actually working for a living again had left the taste in his mouth. He probably didn't have to, he could go back to the kind of lifestyle he'd enjoyed before; filthy rich and able to do whatever whenever while only lifting a finger to tell Minea his wishes. Not that the cat was here either. Probably still in Vatheon. Or back on Earth...
He could go back to something carefree like that, or he could find something like what he had and find comfort in that. He checked the bars first, the same kind of dives he'd worked at in Hinato along side Otoha. Eventually, he found one willing to take him for part-time and temporary work.
It wasn't the nicest place, but it could hardly be called a dump, it was the kind of place 'common' people would go. And it was those sorts of people who had the best rumors and gossip. And some of which would tip even better if Johnny just flashed them the right kind of smile.
He went there to work and easily started up conversations with anyone who sat down, and partook in other bars, things fancier than the one he worked in. It was always good to keep an ear to all the classes of society.]
The bar
Whatever's hard and local.
[Might as well try out the local flavor while she drinks herself under. It also affords a bit of a break from the normal river of booze she's consumed lately.]
no subject
This poor woman looked like she was a mix of both.
He started to go for an elaborate bottle made of fine glass with a light substance in it, the stuff he was 'supposed' to grab to get people drunk and build their bill, but he changed course and grabbed a dark bottle under the counter.
hat oozed out was thick and heavy but smelled sickly sweet, at least, to him.
This was what the locals got when they wanted to forget their day. He slid it to her.]
Try this. I'd drink it slow, however.
no subject
Don't think I could chug this if I wanted to. Thanks.
[She takes a sip. Even that small amount feels like it coats her throat, but it leaves an enjoyable aftertaste.]
no subject
Do you like it? If you're looking to forget something or just get drunk fast, it'll definitely do the trick.
no subject
[Definitely meant to be sipped slowly. Riona half considered knocking some of it back, despite knowing it's a bad idea, just to see what would happen. Occasionally it's fun to be stupid.]
Getting drunk's the goal. Forgetting would be swell, but there's not enough alcohol for that.
no subject
[His tone was definitely leading as he leaned to show she had his attention.]
Surely not enough that wouldn't just cause more troubles. I can't imagine what sort of trouble a lovely lady like you could be having. I'm all ears, if you'd like.
no subject
[Said drolly, though she's not put off by it. She supposes it helps with the job and all, so she can't begrudge him that.]
Loveliness does not keep trouble at bay. Quite the opposite, I'd almost argue. And I have a natural born tendency to attract it.
no subject
[His smirk just brightens with her tone, amused far more than offended.]
No, I suppose not. How about you start with the most recent thing that plagues you while I make you something more palatable?
[He turns to get down a tall, curvy, glass he could concoct something in and turns back around with a wink.]
On the house.
[On him but that hardly mattered. This job was more about doing something than any kind of money he might earn.]
no subject
I won't say no to a free drink. Thank you.
[She takes another sip of her current one, mulling over the answer to his question while she does.]
Too many losses in too short a period of time. Didn't have time to process one friend gone before another one left.

Market
Why, are your arms broken or something?
no subject
He stares. He stares for too long, his gaze desperately searching for any sign of recognition he could clutch to. But there wasn't any. He was staring at a stranger and it hurt so much more than he'd ever imagined. And, of course, he'd imagined it; a person didn't spend the last two and a half years in the places he had and expect to meet the same face twice. Not the one that would recognize you, that just didn't happen.
As smoothly as he could, his smirk slipped back into place and he reached past the demon, coming far too close into Crowley's personal space as he did so.]
Not at all. [His voice was a purr even as he pulled away again with the item in hand, practically forgotten in the face of his past. This wasn't his Crowley, the one who would sneer and try to cut with insults that couldn't cut paper. The one who would rise to Johnny's bait when he felt like it and ignore him when he didn't.
But he just needed to make completely sure. He needed to hear the confirmation with his own ears or he wouldn't be able to let it go again.]
Thanks for your concern Crow-ley. [He said his name with a lilt in the middle, breaking the syllables apart in a sing-song way Johnny always knew ruffled the demon's feathers. He could at least still have someone fun before it all came crashing down with finality.]
no subject
Ah. Normally, he's on the receiving end of this. He's lost count of the friends and lovers who have come both here and Paradisa, to not recognise him. It's a deeply unpleasant sensation, and Crowley feels a little sympathy for Johnny. A little. ]
...Well, that's obnoxious. [That way of saying his name. Ugh. Was that a thing somewhere? ] Either you've met me before, or my reputation has preceded me. Could be either way, really. Given your tone, I'd put my money on the former.
[That and the whole purring and getting into his personal space thing. That's a big hint. ]
no subject
The former most definitely. Unfortunately, it's clear it was a different you. It happens a lot when one gets thrown around.
[The disappointment stung harshly, but he buried it beneath an easy smile as he dumped the trinket back on the table, his interest in it gone.]
Ah, well. It's still a pleasure to see your shining face again.
no subject
[Still, he can't help but feel a little sorry for the guy. This sucks terribly. He keeps the smirk on, though. There's no changing Crowley, it seems. He'll continue to be a smug git no matter what.]
I'm not surprised, my shining face is very nice to look at. Do I get a name? Seen as you so obviously know mine.
no subject
[There isn't a hint of a barb in his voice, more affectionate teasing than anything. God, this was so difficult to keep his distance and yet still trade edged words as though nothing were wrong with this picture. Separating himself from others had once been so much easier once upon a time.]
It's Johnny, though I doubt you could come up with something I couldn't abide with. [Nothing this Crowley would be able to think of and the other had never said anything so cruel as to actually hurt except once.]
I'm done here, care to walk a bit? [Carefully, at least, the sun was still out. He pulled his overly large hood over his mane of curly black hair and waited expectantly for an answer.
no subject
[He'd be right there. Crowley can be a shit, but actually hurting people? That's just unseemly. He pauses, considering, before giving a shrug of his shoulders. Might as well. So many people he knew have given him another chance to get to know them, only fair he should do the same. Besides, he's curious. ]
...Sure, why not.
bar!
[Adalwolfe leans against the bar top, swirling his strangely-colored cocktail around in its glass, feeling more than a bit nostalgic. He hasn't tracked Crowley down again yet, if he's even around, nor is he sure he even wants his old job back. He was terrible at keeping the hours anyway and who's to know if he might not just get kicked off the show again in record time.]
Never made anything like this, though. What is it?
Re: bar!
[That actually peuques his interest, usually his patrons are locals or tourists, not those on the fleet.
He slides a swirling green concoction to his new arrival and leans on his elbow on the counter.]
Try it. It's made of a local liquor that has a bite in the aftertaste. I think it's supposed to represent a snake or one of the other lizards on this planet.
Careful, that alcohol will sneak up on you.
no subject
Or... a dragon?
no subject
I suppose. Although, if you want dragon I could make you something really good.
[He put his hands on his hips, as though waiting for the signal to start mixing as soon as his patron gave it.]
no subject
[He downs the current drink in preparation for the next one.]
Mix on, my good sir!
no subject
Alright...in return, tell me why dragons.
[Despite the popular lore about the time he'd been born in, dragons were not a real thing knights faced, so he hardly had anything beyond fantasy to go off of for them. He could see the appeal, but this was clearly something to be passionate about in those lovely silver eyes.]
no subject
[As if that explains everything.
Or seeing that it doesn't actually, Wolfe goes on.]
They're enormous and powerful and can basically do whatever they like. There's real freedom in that sort of strength, but also a danger I can sympathize with, being hunted just for what they are and all.
[He rolls the empty glass around in his hand a bit.]
Also they can breathe elements and fly. There is that.
no subject
But even as he begins to mix and measure out the things he needs, he glances back up pointedly.]
You say 'sympathize.' Have you experienced something similar yourself?
