Clopin Trouillefou | Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney)
[Now, Clopin is no space man. Nor a scientist. Nor really an educated man at all. Heck, he's lucky he has a scrap of literacy. But what he is is a street man. He knows cities intimately, and he knows the nature of the public.
So, once he's had a chance to explore this place and get a sense of the area, he sets up an impromptu puppet show to attract locals and travelers, adults and children alike to observe. Why spend money on bogus fortune telling when he can perform himself and get money?
Clopin, despite not being orange, doesn't even look all that out of place in the colorful mishmash of the city, seeing as he's wearing a jester outfit complete with jingle bells and he has a bright purple mask over his face that matches his clothes. He sings periodically throughout the puppet show, whipping out puppets just as colorful and fun as his clothes, and he's an unforgettable tenor.
One can observe his show or catch him in between performances.]
[Scamming in the New Town]
[Gadje eat fortune telling up like it's pork roast, so of course Clopin is a fair 'hand' at palmistry and such nonsense. Once interest in puppet shows dries up, he changes his clothes to something a little less 'court jester' and a little more 'mysterious fortune teller', though he keeps his purple mask on, and sets up a little corner on the street to offer his fortune telling services.
He'll give people entertainment and comfort alongside the bogus fortunes, so he doesn't consider this too scammy in comparison to other tricks he's been wont to pull.]
You look like someone who might want some certainty in your future. [Clopin offers his hand to the person whose eye he's caught, paired with a mysterious smile.] I can help you, you know.
[Spaceship]
[Clopin is officially out of his element.
Clopin really doesn't like feel off balance like this. It makes him feel like he's lost control, and for someone who has had very little control of his surroundings throughout his life, losing all of it at once is nightmarish. What will he do about his gypsies? What would happen to them without him? Had he left behind anyone fit to rule in his stead?
But stressing out isn't going to fix anything. He shows no outward sign of stress, still in his jester outfit and purple mask, and he whistles as he explores the ship. The more he knows the ship, the more control he can get back.
He will explore everywhere. The med bay. The kitchen. The engine room. Someone might even find him walking over the engine room's catwalks, poking and prodding pieces of delicate machinery.]
Sweet monkey jebus I love you - first prompt
He'll watch the little puppet show from a handy vantage point, only hopping over after the show is done with, giving a slap of his little brass sconces in lieu of his hands. ]
Bravo! Very entertaining show, monsieur, the little ones were rapt!
Hell yeah Lumiere!
What the actual fuck.
It's only Clopin's extensive experience controlling his responses and the weird experiences so far in the day that keep him from saying something to that effect out loud. Instead, he smiles his showman's smile, taking off his hat to give a little bow to the candelabra. (What the fuck what the fuck it's a talking piece of furniture)]
Why thank you, thank you. I do love entertaining the children; they make such a good audience. [He plops his hat back on his head.] Though it seems you are the most interesting member of my audience today. [Clopin can safely say he has never entertained a candelabra before.]
\O/
I am usually the most interesting member of any audience, I make it my business to be very interesting. [He throws a rakish smile in Clopin's direction. ] But I would put good money on you meaning my current... situation.

[Wow, this candelabra is expressive. Clopin admires how much personality and expression he manages with a head that is literally a burning candle.
He does a little flourish with his hand as he touches his chin and bobs on the balls of his feet, because he can't stay still for a second.] So this is a temporary state of affairs? This sounds like an interesting story. [And Clopin is a sucker for a good story.]

[He does his very best. bro, thanks for noticing. It's taken a decades worth of practise. ]
Oui. I have been cursed into this form- a curse that hopefully will be broken sooner rather than later. Before this, I was as human as you.
CLOPIN!!! (spaceship)
He can't remember though, the singing planet and exploring had held his attention since this world seemed to be more in tune with arcane arts than others. Even if a lot of what he saw was bogus.
The teen smiles and raises his hand in greeting.]
Need any help?
HELLOOOOO
[Clopin offers a big gap-toothed smile. Okay, obviously, he has no idea what's happening and he needs to accept help offered to him, but he can do it in a way that turns things to his advantage. No need to let onto his anxiety and intelligence.]
I'm but a poor fool, and I seem to be lost. Which way is Paris?
no subject
[Wait, he knows that word. It takes him a second but he remembers Lumiere calling him that at one point and smiles. So, he's from somewhere familiar at least in passing.]
I'm not sure that makes you a fool since Atroma just kidnaps us. [He does try to give him a reassuring smile.] Paris, where ever it is in relation to the fleet, is entire worlds away, I'm afraid.
no subject
I once played a tiny gypsy child on livejournal long ago
[His question is phrased politely enough but sometimes it helps, seeing the stars and the other ships outside.]
I'm afraid we don't really get to meet any of Atroma but you'll have the chance to meet other members of the fleet that were also kidnapped. [He offers his hand to shake.]
My name is Khadgar, I'm from Azeroth.
OH MY GOD THAT WAS YOU I REMEMBER YOU
You'll have to forgive me if all this goes over my head, monsieur. I never learned much about the sky. [He takes the man's hand easily, offering a warm smile that's charmed many Parisians in his day.] Azeroth, you say? I haven't the slightest where that is.
[He's not even playing dumb on that one.]
I HOPE MY RP IS FOUND TO MORE ENGAGING THESE DAYS INSTEAD OF SILLY
That's alright. [He smiles still, friendly.] I learned a bit, it helps with magic at times and general navigation.
Azeroth is the world I was born on. You'll find all sorts here.
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL THEN AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL NOW
After all this, Clopin really shouldn't be skeptical of magic. After so long of faking magic to please crowds, he can't help it. Even so, he keeps his skepticism from his face.] Magic, you say? What sort?
I'M SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT
Mostly arcane, as a preference, but I can do fire and frost magic as well. [Frollo would hate Khadgar.]
no subject
But regardless, even if it's a trick, props to this guy for a really impressive trick. Clopin doesn't have to fake his surprise, though he does fake believing this man's magic.]
Monsieur, how on earth do you do that?
no subject
Magic, of course. I used the mana stored inside my body to form it. [Khadgar lets the ball of energy sit in his hand awhile before letting it gradually dissolve, reabsorbing some of the mana he used to form it.]
It's common on Azeroth. Some of us are just born with the ability.

[He says, as if he's been here for a while. He really hasn't. He didn't even know a smidgen about space before today, but he's nothing if not adaptable.]
