Dragons? Sounds like fun. You'll have to tell me all about it.
[ He pulls his machete from its holster and uses it to push a branch aside, taking care to examine the steps ahead before stepping over a fallen tree. ]
Watch your step. It's hard to see.

Smile? [He's not thinking of Jack's smile.
He also might be flirting but there is an edge to his body language that says that he isn't entirely unaware of what is going on around them. They're wandering into danger, so while he might talk to make himself more comfortable, he's still paying attention to their surroundings and his voice is always careful not to be so loud as to carry far.]

Nice save.
[ Jack takes a moment to hack a few branches away, enough for him to declare the immediate space safe when he reaches a hand back for his companion. ]
Don't wanna stray too far, now. Always best to keep your partner close.
no subject
Why, you don't have to think of an excuse to hold my hand. I'll happily stay close to you.
no subject
[ Jack chuckles and gives a playful wink, helping his companion over the fallen tree. ]
What's it like wbere you're from? I know you said dragons but... they could live anywhere.

I am from Thedas. There are a few of us here, but from different versions of the world. Have you heard of it yet?
no subject
[ He had admittedly been filling his days with other things including... getti g to know people. Those from Cyril's neck of the woods hadn't quite been able to cross paths with him in that way, but he's always happy to learn. ]
How can there be different versions? Did you all vet picked up at different times?
no subject
Well, yes and no. I'm from the lastest time, so far. But for example, in my version of Thedas I'm the leader of an organization called the Inquisition, but many of the friends I made during my time there don't know me because to their minds someone else is the Inquisitor. And there's another elf named Leilani and in her world, she is the one who becomes Inquisitor. The differences mostly seem to center around key figures and their choices, the Inquisitor seems to be one of three. The other two are known as the Hero of Ferelden and the Champion of Kirkwall. A couple of different versions of each of them have been here as well.
[He says all of this very matter-of-factly but still with a certain level of friendliness. There's no hint of the crisis of identity this caused him, or the pain of having people close to you who have no idea who you are.]

You've got too nice of a smile to be associated with such a stern and grumpy word. I guess what matters is just doing the job and working toward what's best for everyone, right? Unless you're mortal enemies... might make it hard.
no subject
[Now he wonders what would happen if his enemies showed up.]
The bad guys... Well, they tend to be worse than the dragons.
no subject
Well, Thank goodness they're not here, then. Things are weird enough without more complications.

I know, right? I can't imagine having to fight darkspawn on top of everything else. [Oh, right. He might need to explain what darkspawn are. Though the name is spooky enough, right?]
no subject
[ He laughs and ducks down under a branch, pausing it to lift it for his companion. ]

[Cyril really likes all of the ways that Jack seems to be considering him. It's very charming to have someone look out for him.]
Trust me. They are the worst. And fighting them is dangerous because their blood can taint you.
[Then, after a moment, in which he watches his footing and makes sure that he's not going to accidentally trip over some roots.] There is a special order that was created to fight them, called the Grey Wardens. We have a couple of them here with us in the Fleet. They can also sense the presence of the darkspawn. At least that means we'd have warning before they tried to kill us all.

[ Jack watches carefully for Cyril to cross under him, taking the opportunity to look him over. He's generally respectful, but he can't help himself but to be observant. ]
Must not be an issue for us while we're out here, then. You'd think they'd have warned us. Lucky for us then, hm?
no subject
It's... probably a conversation we should have when we aren't exploring in creepy midst.
no subject
You've got a point. Still, makes for good mood stories, doesn't it? Kinda spooky?
[ He laughs and pauses to reach up and scrape off a bit of bark from a tree. ]

So you think I'm handsome, then? I'll have to remember that when we get back to the ship; see if you still feel the same. I think I'd owe you a drink for coming out with me anyway.

Wouldn't be adverse to that. Wish I'd known sooner instead of dragging you out here to try to impress you. Did it work, at least?

[ Jack takes a moment to look his companion over and nod. ]
Guess we'll have to see how you feel about it later. As much as I love a playful romp in nature... I'm not sure this is quite the place for it. What with the... going mad and everything we were warned about.
no subject
Definitely not. Adventure first. Sex later.
no subject
[ Jack doesn't seem terribly torn up about a particular prospect, especially if there was a chance to reconsile it later. ]
Hey, if you're up to it. I know I'm not likely to turn you down. I mean, look at you. Should tell you everything right there.
