And away we go...!
At last, the Marsiva begins to drag the Drift Fleet away from the orbit of the polluted moon. There isn’t much time left, but those who have been waiting to hear from the Council about the terraformer situation finally have an answer.
For everyone else, it is time to pack up and say goodbye to the mask-wearing citizens of the toxic moon. The Fleet is moving on to other adventures, whether passengers are ready or not!
A HOPEFUL CONCLUSION.
Passengers have spent the last couple of weeks toiling over the terraforming technology, while the unified council for environmental matters has reviewed the reports and debated their way to a decision. Just when it begins to look like passengers may run out of time, the council steps forward with their answer.
Here are the facts: At the rate their world is going, it will one day become uninhabitable. The inhabitants don’t like to admit it, preferring to put on the optimistic faces they are known for, but they know that theirs is an ultimately-doomed world. Whether the terraformers’ problems are the result of a malfunction or intentionally-lethal programming, the moon will eventually turn too poisonous to support human life, and will become a lifeless ball of valuable resources for some outside force to mine without resistance.
And so, if changing out this core drive for a new one is going to cause some negative effects, it's not as though it could be much worse than what they're already facing, and have faced before. Their world could become anything, and the toxins and oils disappearing will remove their most valuable export, but the changes will be slow. Whatever new fate lies before them, they will have a chance to adapt as they always have. In the hopes that a change will give them a future they wouldn’t have otherwise, they give the plan the go-ahead and give their workers permission to install a new ‘gumball’ into the terraformer core.
The core only needs one gumball, and the prep-work the Fleet has done around the machines should make it easy for them to purge and replace the current material. The terraformer will follow and replicate the code inside the gummy molecular structure like an organic creature follows DNA. The changes will not be visible on the moon’s surface for quite some time, and the the Marsiva is leaving for a new destination… So, for now, the ultimate fate of the moon will have to remain a mystery.
BACK INTO SPACE.
With the moon behind them, the Marsiva drifts through space along her predetermined course. Passengers will spend a couple of days limited to their ships and their individual shuttles, but as the week goes by, they will find a few standard waystations within range of the Fleet.
These waystations have just enough room for a passenger to stretch their legs, even if the “trees” planted there are as synthetic and plastic-like as the benches underneath them. Passengers can also find the usual fair of mostly-working arcade games, bulk packages of basic supplies, and vending machines that tend to eat your money.
The Fleet will be coming within range of the next star system soon! We’re going to be trying out a new event-writing system between members of the mod team, which we expect will take at least one week (with a projected post date of 6/12). Hopefully we’ll pull it together sooner rather than later, but we want to leave some leeway in there since it will be a new process for all of us. We’re hoping this new system will allow us to start releasing events in a more timely manner from here on out (and we are VERY excited about that), so thanks for being so patient with us!
Until then, if anyone has any questions about the Terraformers or anything else, feel free to ask them in the QUESTIONS section below!

QUESTIONS
Re: QUESTIONS
no subject
I was trying to think of a way that they would be able to stay in contact, but I think it's like with the Blue Planet they visited last year. The ships are connected to the interior Network, and then receive broadcasts sent within range of their sensors, and that's about it.
They probably won't know how the ol' garbage moon is faring until they run into someone who has visited it or heard word from it recently, down the road.
