SPRING TEST DRIVE

THE SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
(Or Fall Test Drive for you Southern Hemisphere folks!)

Got someone you want to try out before you app? Well this is the post for it! Feel free to use anything that fits in the setting of Drift Fleet! Want to play bumper shuttles? Want to go wild in a med bay? Play around with the current plot? Have at it!

Threads from the Test-Drive may be made game "canon" but DO NOT count toward AC!

FOR NEW PLAYERS: You DO NOT NEED an invite to participate in the TEST DRIVE! If you decide to APP into the game, ONLY THEN will you need an invite from a current player!

Helpful Info for Ideas!:
  • March's Star System
  • Game Details

Test drives are posted SEASONALLY, so the next one will be in June!

    (It's no problem!)

[Oh crap did he break something? He mentally kicks himself for trusting himself with anything.]

    Oh sorry! Here you go.

[He hands it over, looking a little shocked at this stranger's supposed concern.]

    I'm fine, I guess. Why?

    onboard

Oxygen imbalances or gas releases can have mind-altering effects...might be mild, could be worse, but even knowing that death isn't permanent here, it's highly inconvenient.

[He shakes his head with a smile.]

Don't worry. I know everyone's brain is a little scrambled when they're new. Unfortunately, that's by our captors' design---actually, have you figured out what your augment is yet?
dontfeedplants: (You know the book doesn't lie)

Right, I keep forgetting that we don't die for good here.

[In the very least this does confirm that Twoey is not the one behind this because immortality is definitley not a thing he asked for.]

I'm not sure. I feel like I know more things now, [As creepy as it was to think about it.] but I'm not really sure how to apply any of it to anything that could help this team.

Don't worry about it. You had the right idea with trying different things.

    [He smiles again.]

So we can probably eliminate engineering---they try to avoid double-assigning if possible anyway. Have you tried piloting, or combat?

Right, at least I'm trying things, I guess.

[He's just going to... gently not mention he was just being curious and not trying to figure out his augment.]

Not really. I'm not exactly skilled at much so I'm a little worried about trying to pilot anything.
    morphitudinous: (Head turned)

[Billy closes his eyes in thought. Figuring out his own augment had been fairly simple...he was already a natural engineer and curious about it, so he'd simply realized when the centuries of advancements in the field had already been in his head. For Seymour, it'd be a little more difficult.]

If you had that augment you'd probably have thoughts prompting you that way. But don't worry, I'm sure you're more skilled than you think you are. Sometimes it just takes time to find a match.

Not all the augments are based on operations---you could work in the laboratory, we're lacking a med bay...or you could be a cook, a professor, a counselor? Does any of that sound familiar at all?
    dontfeedplants: (What am I saying?)

    [personal profile] dontfeedplants 2017-04-12 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
[He puts some thought into this, mostly because he can't imagine being good at any of this.]

I guess maybe I'm drawn to the laboratory? But I don't think I should be trusted in taking care of people.

    [Seriously.]

The laboratory wasn't here yesterday---those places only appear when someone with the necessary skills arrives, so of course that's it!

[He shakes his head. Of course he should've thought of that, the answer was there all along.]

We've lasted this long without a medic, so don't feel the need to rush yourself. The augment will help as you learn the ropes---and if worst comes to worst, we'll be treated by the Marsiva's medical bots. /Don't worry.

I'm glad about that. But I don't want to be useless while I'm stuck here. But unless there happens to be a garden up here...

[Which he doubted because that's his luck.]
    morphitudinous: (invention)

    [personal profile] morphitudinous 2017-04-15 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
There is, actually. Not aboard this ship, but aboard the Iskaulit, our fleet's communal business and entertainment ship. We can dock there any time, and there's a gardening space set up.

I believe it's run by a Ms. Granger.
dontfeedplants: (It's not demand and supply)

[He almost immediately brightens up at that. Sure he... did just deal with a talking plant with bloodlust, but hey plants are still cool.]

I'll have to talk to her then! You think she'll let me use it?

[He genuinely thinks that there's a good chance she'll just refuse.]
    morphitudinous: (Positive)

    [personal profile] morphitudinous 2017-04-17 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't been given any reason to think she wouldn't. Anyone who's interested and able to take care of their plants will fit in there.
