[This is really probably a bad idea. But when has that stopped this party from doing anything ever, honestly.

She catches up with him eventually and watches him. He definitely has that look in his eye. She sighs, putting her hand on her hip. Will there be any talking sense into him? Probably not.]

Sure as I ever am. The only question is if there's really something alive out there to fight.

It's really gonna suck if I got all excited over a bunch of dead rocks.

[It would suck for him, it probably wouldn't bother Velvet too much if the rocks were just regular rocks.

She looks out at all the rocks that aren't moving. So far this is pretty uneventful. But she's gotta wonder...]

So, assuming there is something out here, how are you planning to fight it?

[ Ah, good old grounding logic. Rokurou's true enemy. ]

No idea. I figured I'd kind of wing it depending on how they looked.

[ It's close enough to a plan for him that Velvet should be proud of him, really. At least he's not running around hitting every rock in the field. ]

[Proud is stretching, but it is about as much as she could hope for, all things considered.]

Well, at least you aren't punching random rocks.

But I figured a simple punch might not be enough to get them riled up.

Yeah, that's probably true.

[She continues to approve of not punching rocks.

She glances out at all the rocks again. Still nothing moving that she can tell.]

If you find something are you going to get paid for it?

I'm not sure. I wasn't really thinking about the money when I came out here.

[ That would just be a nice bonus on the rock-monster-fighting cake, really. So long as it was an interesting challenge, Rokurou was in. ]

[ Now if a rock monster would just show up... ]

[ He's going to be real disappointed if all the action happens after they leave. ]

I don't know. When's a good time for rock monsters?

[When would rock monsters be active and hunting, or doing whatever it is rock monsters do? Velvet doesn't know. If Phi or Eleanor were here they might have suggested reading up on this kind of thing, assuming there was any material available. Unfortunately, Velvet and Rokurou aren't really researching types.]

[ It's okay Velvet, Rokurou kind of misses the nerd squad too. But Rokurou's got at least a bit of hunting knowledge to go by. ]

It's not like they need to hunt at night in order to stay hidden, so it has to be whenever their prey is active.

All right. So, do we know what they eat?

[There different kinds aren't there? There usually are various species found in the wild, right? It's not like she read any brochures or anything. Maybe she should have.]

Uhh... all of it? You can't be very picky when you're a rock.

[ That seems plenty reasonable to Rokurou, anyway. When you're stationary, you take whatever comes by. ]

If that's the case I don't think timing would matter. Wouldn't things be wandering by all the time?

[They aren't very good at being nerds.]

Huh. Guess you're right there.

[ Well Rokurou's given up on his nerd card then. ]

So why the hell hasn't anything popped up yet?

Maybe we're going about this the wrong way.

You got any ideas about the right way then?

[ Because, at this point, Rokurou's out of them. All he wants is to fight something, preferably something strong and dangerous. Picking a fight with some monsters really shouldn't be this hard. ]

Maybe we should have started by finding potential prey and stalking that, to see if the rocks attack.

[It might be a little more productive than standing around in a field or rocks, at least. And even if the rock monsters didn't show up they could do some hunting and maybe sell whatever they caught.]

Hey... that's not a bad idea. Let's go with that.

[ So long as it's not too late to shift gears. If everything's gone into hiding around this time of day, this whole trip would have been a moot point. ]
