[ truth is, she'd love to let loose and cut a rug. it's hard to find a good party in the fleet. well, outside of holidays. ]

[ damn. she knows she ought to say no; tommy's not always a great influence. but, hey, he's fun. and kate could use some fun. so she tamps down some clint-shaped angst and grabs her jacket. ]

Maybe. Sure. [ ... ] Gimme a sec -- can Lucky come?

[ look, she's inherited the old mutt. ]

More the merrier, I guess. Who's Lucky?

[ Not that he'd really say no. Tommy is many things, but he's not that kinda guy. ]

[ladybro]

My dog. [ a beat. ] Kinda my dog.

[mutriarchy]

[ Maybe it's best not to pry. ]

Yeah, sure, bring him over.

I inherited him. It's a whole thing. [ she's not afraid to tell the story; quite the opposite.

kate heads for the shuttle bay, clearly keen to keep the broadcast open while she commutes. ]

Things are never good. Who from?

Clint. I mean -- I was always, like, the dog's fun aunt before hand. But after Clint left? Lucky stayed.

[mutriarchy]

[ There's the slightest of pauses. A question he wants to ask - since when does Clint Barton have time to have a dog? but he wonders if that might come across as, well, offensive. ]

Sucks. I'm sorry... Least he still has you.

[ladybro]

Could be worse. I could have inherited, like, anything else of Clint's. [ ... ] At least Lucky is cute. Oh my God, Tommy, he's so futzing cute.

What kind of dog is he?

[ladybro]

Mutt. [ a beat. ] Lab-something. Uh -- old, a little limpy. [ ... ] He only has one eye.

[ so kinda ugly-cute. ]

Somehow that lines up with exactly the kind of dog I expect a revolutionary like Clint Barton to have.

[ ...revolutionary? well, she figures. it's not wrong. ]

He stole him from some Russians. Or liberated him. They were jerks.

Yeah. [ she's not used to singing clint's praises. but in this case? yeah. ] It wasn't unimpressive.

[ ok, ok, nearly there -- ]

Letting the shuttle dock. We'll be aboard in a moment.

[ He'll just end the feed and be waiting. ]

[ admittedly 'a moment' is much shorter to her than it is to tommy who -- she knows -- must already be waiting. but kate doesn't rush on his account. eventually, she steps out of the shuttle with an old mutt in tow.

kate's looking casual but fresh. as though she doesn't try too hard. and although tommy's been in the fleet for a short while now, she doesn't hesitate to huh him when she sees him. ]

We gotta do something about these flashing lights.
