( quick au explanation here )

[ shipside (assuming an assignment) ]

Zell was not having the best few days, let her tell you about it. And she would, to the first person that she saw on this damned tin can.

Everything leading up to this wasn't exactly sunshine and puppies, either, but this - this had really taken the cake. Zell was convinced she'd been time compressed, or gone insane. First she wakes up on a eerie, silent and sleek looking ship. She can't find Squall, Ellone, or Quistis, and no one here seems to know who the heck they are.

    And the food sucks.

    It really sucks.

Then she gets put on another ship, decidedly less sleek looking, and people still don't know who or what her friends are, what a Sorceress is ("No, not that kind!"), and she may have yelled at some of them and stomped off. She promptly gets lost, and then finds her way to the food dispensers, which leads to this.

Zell, poking morosely at some wheat protein arranged lengthwise, with a layer of chicken and cheddar gel on top. It is the saddest attempt at a hot dog.

    Zell could cry.

    [ planetside ]

After a few dramatics about breathing water, Zell manages to adjust to the planet enough. If by adjust you mean propelling herself about like a champion swimmer with a bit too much flailing, yes, she's... adjusted.

She can be found hanging around the food courts, trying everything in sight, and also playing with the poofy fish in the tourist traps.

Her real interest is in one of the underwater ruins. Maybe there's a GF inside! (No, not a girlfriend, a spirit monster bigger than your head that's more complicated than your relationship status.) That would make her day, so she's definitely asking literal passerby if they're interested in taking a traipse around.

Jayden's already run through one underwater temple and claimed her reward - as is evidenced by her Ghost floating in the water just behind her shoulder! But... guns don't work underwater, she doesn't have a sword or a battle axe... so, she's gotta practice using this damn glaive she bought at one of the shops somehow, right? Why not in more ruins? They're pretty much crawling with things that want to make snacks out of people. Would be best to take care of that.

So when someone asks if she's interested in taking a traipse around, she nods.

"Sure. Was planning on going in anyway."

So far most people had turned Zell down - then again, it'd been a lot of of the native inhabitants, so maybe the appeal was lost. The woman that tells her yes gets Zell straightening up a little - except that she overcompensates and almost spins herself upside down.

Making herself tread water to get back into place, she smiles a little. It doesn't quite reach her eyes, but it's certainly wide enough to disguise said fact.

"Really? Oh wow, awesome," she says enthusiastically. "Well, if we're gonna be temple buddies we have to know each others names."

And, despite the incongruity, she rubs her hand on her pants before she holds it out. "I'm Zell."

Jayden is just about to not give her name just to be defiant, but she can practically feel her Ghost ready to beat her to the punch with ~how excellent of a point that is~... so she doesn't give him the opportunity. (Neener.)

"Jayden. Or Price." She shakes Zell's hand. "Been through one of these yet? There are traps everywhere."

Come on Jayden, how can you resist this big, buff annoying ball of sunshine? Oh wait.

Zell shakes her hand with what can only be enthusiasm, and when Jayden asks if she's been through one she shakes her head, puffing up a little.

"Here, no, but in general, yes, I've been around my share of ruins."
stormfist: (you are my best 'i'll never know')

    [personal profile] stormfist 2017-03-14 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
She can resist it quite well, actually! But she's not going to. She's got her eye on the other woman, though. You know, just in case. That she's been through places like this before actually does reassure her a bit though, honestly.

    "Great. Let's go then."

She starts inside, glaive in hand and at the ready - but she stops not too far in when a straight line of spikes snaps right out of the ceiling, all the way across the corridor and alarmingly close to the floor. Jayden stares at them as they slowly start to rise again.

    "... Well shit."
heeldrop: (or we could NOT do that)

    [personal profile] heeldrop 2017-03-14 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
A water puzzle, not yet. But an abandoned tomb that had a weird series of levers, yes, she's dealt with that. And the creatures inside quite handily.

Even if she doesn't have anything to junction right now, she's pretty confident in herself. But she lets the woman with the glaive go first, swimming herself after her.

The spikes get her giving a little startled noise, but neither of them get hurt so that's a success. She watches them retreat in, and then snap down again after a few moments.

"Well, that ain't too bad. How fast can you swim?"

She squints at the spikes, trying to see how long they stay up. If there's something Quistis hammered into her head, it was waiting until she had enough info. And she was better about it without people to goad her about.
stormfist: (i'll be as honest as you let me)

    [personal profile] stormfist 2017-03-16 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh. Average?" A beat. "Hell if I know, never had to speed-swim, or anything. We sure there's no off switch?"

You keep squinting at those spikes, lady. She's going to start poking her nose around, examining every (safe to reach) nook and cranny of the little entranceway, looking for anything remotely off. Or useful. Or anything.
