A troll? Is that the name of your species?

[He's used to seeing weird aliens, but he hasn't expected to hear a familiar word to call them. Is this what actual trolls look like? Boy, does Earth have that wrong.]

We can try to find a town together if you want. ["Sort of" is enough for him to offer his arm to her. (His human arm. Let's not make this awkward.)] I'm Shiro.

Yeah, trolls. We're from a planet called Alternia, which probably doesn't exist in this universe.

[Definitely not an Earth troll. Earth trolls are like the ones from Frozen, as everyone knows.

A robot arm wouldn't really faze her, of course, considering she used to have robot everything - it's the fact that he's offering his arm in the first place that makes it awkward to her. But one of the advantages to being an alien is that you can pretend you don't understand such obscure human gestures, so she just. casually does that.]

Sure! That sounds like a good idea.

[Instead of taking his arm, she struggles over sideways until she finds a handhold on the wall (since they are in a submerged station, apparently). See, as long as she stays close to a wall, she will not need help at all! This plan is flawless. How many totally open spaces could there be in this endless ocean?]

I don't think any of us can find our planet in this universe.

[He does wonder if Alternia is in his universe though. He wonders the same with everyone. Part of him wants to be able to visit them with his lion some day. The other part doesn't want them to belong to the universe where the Galra empire rules. Being a paladin is hard.

Being used to aliens means he's used to them not understanding him too (two words: clock party) so he doesn't take it as an insult or anything. But he does look at her with an eyebrow raised and some amusement. If it's a handle she wants, that's fine. He'll offer again if needed later. For now, he just swims after her.]

So Alternia is the name of your troll planet - what about yours?

    Oh, right! I'm Aradia.

[It doesn't take her long to settle into a pattern of pulling herself hand over hand and gently kicky feeting in between. This isn't so bad. It's like flying, only slower and more difficult.]

    [personal profile] padadin 2017-03-17 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Aradia, it looks like we won't have to search for long.

[He can see the jellyfish-shaped buildings just a couple of feet away from them.... a couple of feet that are just water, which means they need to leave the station behind.

Shiro looks at her and he can't help it, he has to ask.]
Are you sure you don't want to hold on to me?

[Well, taken 100% literally, "a couple feet" wouldn't be a problem - her arms are longer than that. The problem is that this is almost definitely an understatement, and it is instead a distance that necessitates some non-zero amount of actual open-water swimming. Aradia looks out into the water and pulls a face. Like, she could try, but the result would almost definitely be a bunch of pointless flailing around and looking like a moron.

She sighs and gives up, taking his arm.]
Yeah, okay. That is probably a good idea now.
