Well, I have to admit, I'm not really that familiar with this area of space, but...

[He glanced at the dash as he settled into the other seat. He figured he'd co-pilot on this one. She probably needed this more than he did, since it would be her first time. It looked like he could grab control if he needed to, though.

The augment did give him an understanding the controls in front of him, too, so he gave an experimental push of some buttons and was able to call up a display of the local area. It was centered around the planet they were currently orbiting, and showed several other things around the area.]

It looks like things are pretty spread out around here. We might want to stay fairly local until we're more familiar with the craft itself.

    [He sat back a bit.]

We could also do a few atmospheric entries and exits to practice.

Sorry about the delay... I just moved cross-country.

That sounds like a sufficient introduction to the practical application of this suddenly gifted knowledge.

[As she works though the pre-flight checklist she now has 'memorized' without any actual effort, Kanaya is starting to calm down. It's still a strange sensation, but she knows what she's doing. She knows where each control is, and what they do. One thing she doesn't know, however, is her new acquaintance. Once she's worked through enough steps to take a moment, she turns to her new co-pilot.]

I'm Kanaya Maryam, by the way. You are?

No problem! :) I'll backtag forever. LOL

[Watching her go through the motions was actually pretty interesting. Everything she did was oddly familiar to him, not just from a general piloting standpoint, but from the standpoint of being able to actually operate the particular craft they were sitting in. It was a strange sensation. It was also a little strange that here was someone with no pilot experience whatsoever, and she was doing it like it was something she was trained in.]

    I'm Keith.

[He gave her a small smile as he made sure he was ready to go on his end.]

Whenever you're ready... looks like we have clearance to launch.
    sylphauxiliatrix: (adoration)

    Oh good, me too.

Alright, Keith. Bringing engines up to one-quarter throttle.

[There's a dulled sensation of acceleration as the ship jumps out of the shuttle bay and into the black. This doesn't surprise Kanaya, of course, knowing thanks to the implant all about the ship's inertial systems, intended to allow the shuttle to reach great speeds without pulping it's occupants. What is surprising, however, is the view. It's her first time out in real, normal space, and she's clearly a bit awestruck as she guides the craft in a long sweeping arc around the fleet.]

    XD

    Right.

[Keith glanced over as they came out and around, recognizing that look. Even with all the times now that he'd been in space, it still was a little awe inspiring to actually do it.

And to do it without any pressure around him from fighting or missions or anything else like that? It was almost strange. He could actually sit back and relax if he wanted to... enjoy it for the first time in at least a year. He wasn't exactly sure how long it had been, but wow. He sat back in his seat as the realization suddenly hit him.

    He could enjoy this again.]
