Yes. [Somebody is a DANG TATTLETALE.] I guess Eizen or Zaveid warned you about me already? [Because he can't think of any other reason they'd tell her about him except to let her know that hahaha two people who are in roles usually reserved for mortal enemies now have to coexist in the same Fleet.]

[Though only Eizen mentioned his name. Neither of them went into much detail.]

Eizen asked me to play nice.

[Her tone is a little bored, but she honestly doesn't seem that bothered.]

[That- is an honest surprise, and it shows on his face. Eizen did? And he asked her to-] 'Play nice?' You mean- As in with me, or he meant the whole Fleet...?

[Because if she promised Eizen she wouldn't cause trouble in the Fleet, then there go half of Sorey's reservations about this entire mess.]

[She raises an eyebrow at that. Her reputation must have endured well into the future, if he's worried about the entire Fleet.]

[...okay well Sorey is literally the Worst at being sneaky and playing things close to the vest, so,] I don't think it's right for to not know why, so...just so you're aware, it's my duty back home to purify malevolence. And you're giving off an awful lot.

[It's not like she's not used to it by now, so she sounds pretty unconcerned.

She gives him a closer look now, maybe even floating a little closer when she does. It's really more curious than threatening, though. Even if she is slightly more on guard than she was.]

So, you're some sort of exorcist from the future, huh? I knew Eizen was leaving something out.

[You know, she doesn't seem to be giving off an "I'd like to rip your throat out" vibe, but Maltran had been pretty good at hiding that too. So even though her approach is slow and cautious, he still pulls the water behind him and floats back in kind.]

I guess. Nowadays we're called Shepherds and Squires, but a lot of recorded history has been lost over the centuries.

[As soon as he says the word Shepherd she makes a face, like she just bit into something sour.]

[Much of recorded history lost. Except the term Shepherd. Of course. It's like a slap in the face.

Which is probably why Eizen didn't mention it. Though it would have been easier coming from him.

She pulls up short, and floats backward a little herself, putting more space between them. She's clearly more agitated than before, though she's not actually lashing out. She's just. Mad.]

Right. Whatever. Well, the only way to "purify" a daemon was to kill it, right? [That's how it works in her time, anyway.] You planning to take me on?

[He looks so affronted for a kid who basically floated over for the sole purpose of determining whether or not he should do just that] I haven't killed anybody! If the person is still alive, you can purify them just fine.

And I wouldn't do it anyway unless you wanted me to. [Or unless she went on a rampage but he feels like telling a person who looks to be on the verge of a rampage "I'll forcibly purify you if you go on a rampage" will not discourage said rampage]

How?

[She asks the question even though she might have an idea. And that idea is actually keeping some of her rage in check. She still associates the word Shepherd with Artorius, so she's dubious and unsure, clearly distrustful.

But she also remembers that Eizen specifically compared Sorey to Laphicet, and Phi believed he could find a way to turn daemons human again with the Silver Flame. So she wants to hear what this kid can do.]
